Battle of Okehazama

[Oda Nobunaga]

Imagawa Yoshimoto, leading an army said to hold 40,000 men, set forth to march on Kyoto. In doing this, he sent his men through Owari, Oda territory, and captured the border fortresses of Wahizu and Marune. Because of his sheer numbers, his army took them with relative ease. After those short battles, they set up camp in the wooded gorge Dengaku-Hazama. This was all reported to Oda Nobunaga, who sent troops to Zenshoji, a temple a short distance from the gorge.

"Lord Nobunaga, this is madness!" Katsuie shouted. "We cannot attack. We must stay here and hold our ground. We can sit this out - a frontal assault is suicide!" Nobunaga looked from Katsuie to his advisers, contemplating his actions, though not yet speaking. "This entire battle is suicide, Katsuie," spoke Sado, one of Nobunaga's advisers. "Lord Nobunaga, you must realize that we cannot win this. Spare your men's lives, surrender here and now." And then there was quiet. Nobunaga stood before his men, weighing their options. But it would seem surrender was not a choice he was willing to make.

"Imagawa has 40,000 men marching toward this place? I don't believe that. He 'only' has 25,000 soldiers. Yes, that is still too many. So, Sado, you want me to surrender. What if we do surrender? Will you get content with losing your life that way? Or what if we hold on like Katsuie wants me to? What if we stay here in this castle, lock it up, and wait until the Imagawas lose appetite and stop the siege and go home? We will be able to prolong our lives for five or ten days, and what we cannot defend will still be undefendable. We are at the bottom of the pit, you know. And our fate is interesting. Of course the misery is too great, too. But this is how I see it: this is a chance in a lifetime. I can't afford to miss this. Do you really want to spend your entire lives praying for longevity? We were born in order to die! Whoever is with me, come to the battlefield tomorrow morning. Whoever is not, just stay wherever you are and watch me win it!"

With that, it was settled. Few of the men were reluctant to continue, and those who would stay behind would each be given a banner to make the Imagawa believe the temple still held the Oda's main force. With a main force of about 1,500 men, Nobunaga set out through the forest, heading to the rear of the Imagawa camps undetected. He had also dispatched couriers to the Takeda, as well as sent for help from the Chosokabe, and hire a band of mercenaries days before in preparation for this attack. Now was the perfect time to act, seeing as a storm was passing through, and their advance would be hidden by nature itself.

"Brave warriors," Nobunaga would begin once his entire force was gathered, allies and all. "You make a bold statement here today to stand with a force seeking to defeat the Imagawa. And for that, I thank you. But, know this: we can afford no mistakes. The Imagawa could overrun us given the smallest chance, so we must do this carefully. A force will be dispatched to capture the Imagawa supply depot to the east, and from there you will move to the south to capture the entire eastern border of their camp. A second force will move to the west, taking an armory and securing their weapons. As soon as the storm settles, I will lead the main force and we will charge down the mountains straight for the commander's camp, and I will take Yoshimoto's head." Nobunaga clenched his fist tightly, a small puff of dark energy passing from his hand. "You must act in stealth, men. Remember this. If the Imagawa are alerted to our presence, this is a losing battle. The element of surprise is our most powerful weapon."

The force sent to the east to attack the supply depot would be led by Maeda Toshiie, with a small army of thirty men. The force attacking the west would be led by Shibata Katsuie, also with a small force of thirty men. Oda Nobunaga, with the remainder of his generals at his side, would wait for the storm to pass before attacking.

[OoC: Act wisely. You can move with the east or west force, or you can stay with the main force and attack as soon as the storm is settled. Those on the Imagawa side (Date and Uesugi) may not know of the surprise attack. They are here for diplomacy. Post order is in the sign-up thread.

Iemasa would fall in with the Oda troops as they approached the Imagawa camp from behind. Rather than wait with the main group, however, he opted to follow Lord Katsuie and head to the West. He wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible, considering Lord Ieyasu was within this camp, as far as he knew. If he could get to Lord Ieyasu and convince him to fight for the Oda instead, that could be a deciding factorin this battle. But, for now, he would charge with the others toward the armory, trudging carefully through the mud with his weapon in hand. He would run at the head of the group, trying to keep a good lookout and make sure they wouldn't be spotted.

[Amakusa Takehiro]

Takehiro led his forces to the aid of the Oda, having been aware of their plight since he participated in their training days before he formed his own faction. It was a strange twist of fate that he would end up here leading an army of his own after such a short time, but it was certainly something that pleased him. He was certainly going up in the world.

"Lord Nobunaga," he chirped, riding up on his horse next to the man. "It is an honor to be able to fight alongside you like this. I assure you, we will bring you victory." He would nod to his fellow Daimyo, before turning to follow Toshiie. "All men of the Amakusa, we ride for the supply depot!"

Riding off on his demon chariot, Takehiro would lead his forces along with Toshiie, aiming to get the supply depot taken over as quickly as possible.

Having been lurked by Amakusa Takehiro to join in a war to aid the Oda, I was there not knowing the whole plan. This probably because op my hate against the Oda. But for now I had to put that beside me as I was trying to become stronger. been promised strength by the man, he maybe had this in mind all along. As I would ride to his left side on my horse Shadow. Weapon upon my back. My new armor ready to be tested.

" You could have told me we were helping the Oda! "

Abit irritated I talked to Amakusa Takehiro, but now was not the time to fight among each other as there were allot of enemies and we were outnumbers. For now I would just fight. One day I will break the Oda if they survive the day. It seems we were off to the supply depot.

" I'll break them and show them a true demon has been born! "

Gabriella knew that being here wasn't the greatest of idea's. She wasn't a fighter, she was a okay shot but this wasn't the place for merely okay. She was sure Maki didn't like the idea much either, but she hadn't left the Oda behind to have the reason die out here today. She hadn't expect it though when Takehiro had lead them to the aid of the Oda. While Maki wouldn't like it she didn't mind as much, her father made money out of the Oda, and she doubted that the Imagawa would like the man who armed their enemies enough to trade with them afterwards.

It was relieving when she saw Takehiro leading them toward the force meant to be going for the supply depot. It meant they weren't going to be in the main assault. However for now she would ride alongside Maki. " I'll break them and show them a true demon has been born! " She heard him telling Takehiro. "and I'll be watching." She muttered, planning to head to the back of the force once they grew closer to their target. 

[Ichimura Ryunosuke]

With the Totomi militia in his command, Ichimura Ryunosuke, fully armored with the best that he had in store, moved into the Oda camp on behest of their daimyo, Amakusa Takehiro. The current situation had him think that they would not win, but since the daimyo had so much trust for the Oda to lead them here, he would just give everything he got for this battle. He would rely on his new-found strength to win a victory even when their numbers are small. The heart of the Totomi militia would lead the Oda to victory.

"Let us go! We'll see how we could break the numbers of the Imagawa!" Ryunosuke said to the militia, as he raised his howitzer and fired a blank in the air in front of the militia army, which responded with shouts and rattles of their rifles. They would then go for the supply depot with the daimyo and General Maeda, Ryunosuke riding the demon chariot and armed with his howitzer leading the way.

Constantine watched as two demon chariots set off to the east. This seemed to be weird; the demons seemed to help the warlord Oda Nobunaga. If the composition of Oda's army are such demons, taking out the Imagawa would be too easy for him. It would take an intervention of God for them to survive. Constantine then offered a tacit prayer for the people who will be joining this war, and then went towards the western force. In here his help might be needed, as opposed to the marauding demons in the east.

[Chosokabe Nanami]

~* Nanami blinked, seeing the demon man who aided the people of Totomi in the Kitabatake attack. He was here too? If that was the case, the pirate had a feeling that this battle wouldn't be impossible after all. The Imagawa couldn't possibly have anything that could defend against a beast like that.

"... That said..."

~* The little pirate decided to go on a little journey to the west. She wanted to stay far away from the demons as possible, not wanting to get caught in the collateral fire. She had thirty men from the Chosokabe with her, but was unaware of Constantine being a member of their forces.

Shou listened as Oda spoke to everyone gathered. It made sense, hit the enemy in the supplies and weapons. Then take the fight to them by surprise while they were demoralized and less armed. Shou was with the small force of Takeda troops, atop his horse. Captain Koboyashi with him ready to lead one half of the men, while all of them would fall under Yukimura Sanada's command. Once the speech was done Shou would turn to Koboyashi. "Why exactly am I here on the front Koboyashi?" He asked, he had trained with the men but never expected to have been called up along side the unit for this battle.

"This is stealth mission, a sneak attack. You're our units resident expect, even if you usually use it just to go about delivering messages uncontested." The captain would reply before turning to look for Yukimura where he was. "Just follow Sanada-san lead, and keep your eyes open." The captain ordered waiting for his own orders on where they were heading. "Yes sir" Shou said plainly not much care in his tone, he had been growing to informal with the captain recently. Once the order came though, Shou, Koboyashi and the rest of the men of the unit would go on to follow them immediately.

[Sanada Yukimura]

With his helmet held underneath his right arm, leaving his red headband to flutter in the wind, Yukimura, along with the men under his command, would listen to Lord Oda Nobunaga, as he stood on his demon chariot, his demon horse anxiously paw at the ground with one hoof. Once the objective was given, as Takehiro rode off on his demon chariot and went to attack the east and the supply depot with Maeda Toshiie, Yukimura would place his helmet on his head, turning his eyes yellow and skin black, before turning to his unit.

Warriors of Lord Takeda-sama, we ride to the west. Onward!"

Riding off on his demon chariot, Yukimura would lead his unit to the west with Shibata Katsuie, his whip swords strapped to his waist, one on each side, and his spear on his back, easily accessible when it came time to use it.

[Morei Hideyasu]

- Hideyasu looked up at Oda Nobunaga as he gave his speech, a look of disgust visible in the ninja's eyes. He hated the Oda with all of his being, and all he wanted was to lash out and cut the daimyo down where he stood. But even Hideyasu knew that would not possible, not intelligent to do. He wasn't here for the Oda, but rather...

"Haji..."

- He muttered under his breath. He knew that his little brother was participating in this battle. Takehiro and Haji were Hideyasu's reasons for being here, and even if his little brother did not know of his existence, Hideyasu swore that he would keep him safe, even from the shadows. And keeping his distance is exactly what he would do as he headed west, his sword sheathed, but he felt the time to use it would be very soon.

War really did come, huh? I was hoping it wouldn't get to this, but... I suppose the training with the Oda wasn't for nothing. Listening to Nobunaga talk, it sounded like we were in way over our heads. Like we could be swarmed and slaughtered in an instant if we weren't careful... the reality of how possible it was to die tonight was sinking in slowly, and I was getting a little scared. But... with Katsumi by my side, I would do my best to be brave, for the both of us.

"I suppose it's our job to go for the armory in the west... stay close to me, alright, Katsumi-chan?"

I would give her that same loving smile that I always give her. In this mass of people, I did not want to become separated from her. It was an army, and if we lost sight of each other, chances were we wouldn't be able to find one another. I swore that I wouldn't let anyone get close to her while I was around to protect her. And with that, I began to head west, assuming that Katsumi would follow by my side.

[Shinomori Katsumi]

If it weren't for the fact that Haji was fighting this, Katsumi wouldn't have been there, feeling the intense need to protect him and have him by her side. The pay also had a large contributing factor. Quite frankly, the woman donned as a man didn't feel invested in any of it. After living a life primarily out in the wilderness and killing for hire, it never really mattered to her. Katsumi wasn't too aware of what was going on and hadn't really bothered to find out. There were tidbits of information she had heard while walking about, but her mind simply wasn't all that curious about the political state of Japan. She wasn't sure if it ever fully would be.

But it was impossible for even someone like her to not get involved. Glancing upwards, Katsumi could only sigh. It was during times like these that she wished she were taller, having to stick close to Haji's side so as not to get stepped on, or something. One of the men bumped roughly into her, causing the archer to stumble forward, and Kat's eyes narrowed at him.

'Dick...' she internally grumbled after not having been apologized to.

Rubbing her shoulder, Katsumi's side pressed against Haji's and she nodded, saying in a hushed voice, "Yeah, I will, Haji-kun."

[Wakeshima Shoji]

Antsy with having to wait for the storm to settle, Shoji began inspecting his blades. They glimmered, cleaned from the last usage, and they thirsted for blood, just as the towering psychopath did. He grinned merrily down at them, envisioning the carnage he would bring about later, and it helped satiate the man.

He didn't go east nor west, having more experience with head on battles. Shoji was more suited for such than the sneak attacks (not that he couldn't do so), and so the man simply waited, biding his time.

"Soon~"

Oh, yes. The wolf was hungry. Once the storm settled, the predator would be able to sink his teeth into their prey and quench his thirst for suffering, blood, and death.

[Miyamoto Kenji]

Kenji clasped the sublime amulet of his goddess around his neck, looking to the sky. Though the sun was blocked out, he imagined that it shone above the battlefield all the same. This battle was bound to be his greatest challenge yet, and he relished not the soon-to-occur deaths of thousands of men, but simply the opportunity to test his abilities, and gain further strength needed to help others. Okehazama would be his proving ground on this day.

"Dear sisters, dear mother... Wait for me."

With that request, he moved to join the western force. He could trust the larger force under the Amakusa to greatly assist the eastern advance in taking the supply depot, so he would put his life on the line in the west instead.

[Yuy Masahiro™]

I rode horseback looking for Haji. That ass had said he'd be here but now I couldn't find him in this crowd. I drew a second horse alongside of me for my comrade. Don't ask how I obtained these horses... that's a story for another time. I figured the horse would be less conspicuous than a demonic carriage. I finally found him and pulled up alongside him with both horses.

"Need a lift?"

I pulled the reigns to slow the horses down and dismounted, putting a hand out to Haji. If it hadn't been for that pep talk he gave me back at the village, I wouldn't have been here today. It was just then that I noticed he was walking with someone... that archer I had met a while back. I had a job aligned up for me and him, but when the village was attacked... well I gave up on that job to wallow in my own self-pity. But that didn't matter right now. I looked past Haji to speak to the person he was with.

"Sorry, I didn't quite realize Haji would be with someone. Hopefully one of you doesn't mind doubling up between me or yourselves?"

"What a fateful battle this will be," Satsumaru muttered to himself, almost inaudibly. He intended to say it only in thought, but his mind was so preoccupied with the battle to come that it seemed his words had overflowed into speech.

Normally, the black-armored ronin had a simple rule when it came to picking his battles: fight battles that you know you can win, and avoid those you can't. It wasn't what most would consider the paramount of bravery, but then, he wasn't a soldier, he was a strategist. His job wasn't to earn himself honor and prestige, it was to win battles.

That said, this Oda Nobunaga was intriguing. He was clearly no fool, yet he was dead-set on a fool's battle. Even his closest retainers had broken their silence and argued against his decision. To most, this would be cause for concern. To Satsumaru, this only guaranteed that there was a chance of victory. The pieces didn't add up, but sometimes, they didn't have to...

Seeing the Amakusa force move with Maeda Toshiie toward the supply depot and a mixed force with the Takeda men riding westward with Shibata Katsuie, the young mercenary captain gave a wry grin. He would stay with the Oda's main force. Though tempted to speak with Nobunaga himself, he put the thought aside. Now was not the time, nor was Satsumaru of proper position to even approach the daimyo so abruptly.

Instead, the long-haired ronin checked his armor and weapons, ready for what was to come.

.::In truth the brunette was not here for the money. She was not here for the glory or appreciation. There was a whisper on the wind that found her ears that a certain individual that she had been spending the past year looking for might be engaging in this affair. Kitana would take any lead she got on Saburo and rush over without hesitation. The money was just a bonus. Her satisfaction would come from jamming that covered arrow in his chest. Today she rode a black horse as oppose to Kage, not that she wasn't confident in Kage's ability to maneuver, but what she didn't want was to worry about his life being taken. It makes her sound a little heartless to the horse she currently rode up on. It's life mattered but she had such a bond with Kage that not many would truly understand. She even insisted on Horus not flying above as to not risk him getting shot down. Besides her mind would be too focused upon the fight before her as well as seeking out Saburo amongst the fray. Smart? No not at all::.

.::She didn't always too much armor but considering what this battle was she put on a bit more. Still light and slim fitting as she didn't want nor like it weighing her down. Her sais remained on her sides in their sheaths while there was a newly acquired bow upon her back with a quiver full of arrows. Though on her right hip there was a solitary arrow with the tip covered. That was meant for one person and no one better bother touching it. She would raise hell if someone tried. Right now the girl smelled blood. She'd help Oda in this fools battle as even with odds stacked against him he was going to make the charge in. Kitana knew a something about going against the odds. However this did not mean she would officially join his faction. She had her own business to attend to. That being said she unconsciously rode up next to Satsumaru with her visor upon her head not closed. Her eyes ever vigilant glancing around looking for any sign of Saburo::.

"Where are you?"

[Morei Hidenori]

Hidenori sat around in the Imagawa Armory with the Uesugi relief force that had accompanied him here to Okehazama. He was sent here on orders from Kenshin in order to form a peaceful alliance with the Imagawa as to avoid war with the strongest force in Japan. That said, he wasn't sure if anything he was saying had an impact. He was sent to wait around the Armory, rather than to wait in their main camp.

He was waiting for an audience with Lord Imagawa Yoshimoto, who seemed far too busy to deal with a lowly soldier such as Hidenori. Despite being the adopted son of Kenshin, they didn't even shoot the man a second glance. And so he waited.

"Lord Kenshin... I sure hope you know what you're doing..."

His zanbato rested up against his shoulder as he looked around. It seemed the Date were here too. Something felt strange in the air, but he couldn't put his finger on it.

[Kyoya Naotora]

Naotora would have been at the forefront of the Date forces, leading the small group of diplomats to the Imagawa camp. They were here in an attempt to gain the Imagawa's favor, and in turn give the Date a powerful ally in future battles.

"Be sure to hold your tongues for fear of upsetting the Imagawa. Let me do the talking."

She was entering the camp from the side of the supply depot.

Right behind Naotora, one arm wrapped around his giant ass war hammer and walking with a looping stride, an easygoing smile was visible on Keisuke's face, despite the serious nature of their reason for being here. Giving Naotora a slight nod of his head, he'd follow her into the camp from the supply depot side, before finding a nearby crate to sit on.

"You got it Naotora-san."

[Etincelle Noel]

"Where the hell is everybody... did they get lost?"

I rode on my motorcycle horse, clutching the handlebars looking out in front of me and to the sides trying to find any signs of my comrades. I could have sworn Nao said we were going to the Supply Depot... Damn. Did they get lost? I sighed. Nao was strong and a great leader... but no sense of direction in that girl. I dismounted my bike and noticed something... Uesugi men? Weapons... armor... ammunition. Wait... was I at the Armory and not the Supply depot?! I turned my head instinctively looking towards a tall Uesugi soldier... and I only knew one. My hand gripped the sword hilt on my back a bit.

"Hidenori..."

Jina was riding her horse behind their designated leader for the mission. It was her and the other Date ambassadors to come onto good terms with this Imagawa faction. Huī trotted happily below her as they approached the camp. The army was said to be huge, beyond reason.

Jina and the others arrived at the supply depot and she dismounted. She didn't even think to check the state of her weapons, since the oncoming attack was unknown to her. She took a large swig of water and ate a small piece of bread that she had gotten back at the Date camp.

She wiped her mouth and fed Huī a bit, smiling as this was her first official Date mission.

Haruyuki found himself in the Armory after he had tailed secretly another of the Date ambassadors who seemed to get lost. It was some hours before he had noticed that one of the ambassadors are lost. And so he traveled through the night, wearing his spy get-up, avoiding open spaces and other people, until he got in the armory. Hiding himself at the back of the building, he noticed a number of Uesugi soldiers who were also there. The other ambassador seemed to walk towards the Uesugi soldiers, and he saw another man, who was of a well-built frame, among them.

"Sympathizing with the rival army won't do you well, traitor," Haruyuki muttered, watching the other ambassador while still hiding.

Alongside Hidenori would be another giant of a man, who would stand just before him as the men of Date seemed to appear. He made no menacing gestures, but did seem protective of his comrades.
