Takehiro would have detected Shou long before the old friend saw him. His far-seeing eye allowed him to spot the former Takeda officer, though Takehiro made no motion. The man was hiding, and he surely had his reasons. So, Takehiro remained still, though a small smile crept upon his face. A moment passed, and, as he would have suspected, a blade was launched in his direction, piercing the ground in front of him. His eyes rose, just in time to see a fist flying toward his face. In any other situation, Takehiro would have actively defended himself and went to break the attackers arm, though Shou was a friend, and he knew he had caused him grievances. So, he took the punch.
Falling to the side a little, Takehiro's smile never left his face. Rather, the Daimyo looked up toward his old friend empathetically, and rose to his feet. In an attempt to show him he meant no harm, the Daimyo stabbed both his glaive and flame sword into the ground at his sides, remaining unarmed. "Shou, old friend. I know I have done you harm, but I come to you now seeking to mend the wounds between us." Takehiro's arms extended to his side in a welcoming gesture, though he was unsure if it'd be that simple. "If you really feel the need to strike me again, you're more than welcome. I will not fight you back."

For a good year, the only real threat the Amakusa had faced were the Takeda, and now, that threat was no more. In the short time they'd been a faction, the Amakusa had felled the Kitabatake, and the Takeda, and had the Imagawa and the Miki running for their lives. They had established an alliance with the Uesugi, and, in time, would attempt to take Odawara from the Hojo. As it was now, so much of their Eastern campaign had gone so smoothly, in just a year's time. That being said, they only had so much luck in regards to the war effort.
At home, due to the constant battle and the Takeda takeover, tensions were rising between the people, and the Daimyo had neglected to take proper care of his people. For several months, his rounds were forgotten and the peoples' taxes not returned, and instead spent toward the war efforts. However, it was time for that to change. Amakusa Takehiro was a good man, a man of the people, and that was something he needed to remind himself, and his people, of. So, the war efforts were minimalized, with only the forces facing the Miki and the Imagawa continuing to be funded, and the peoples' homes were being rebuilt and protected. An ever-expanding wall was being built around Amakusa territory, to keep any invasions at bay, and to give the people inside a sense of security. Things were going to go back to how they used to be.
While his army rebuilt the villages, Takehiro himself strolled across Shinano, observing the people who were once allied to the Takeda. Their officers had long since turned ronin, and that wasn't anything that bothered him. He had more than enough manpower to continue running things as he did. there was, however, one single officer he continuously searched for, and that was Yamabara Shou, the man who'd convinced Takehiro to build his faction from the start. The desire to find this man led Takehiro to the waterfall where they'd met, and he seated himself by it, alone.

Name: Baba "The Butcher" Shinsuke Faction: Amakusa - Commander Ethnicity: Japanese Age: 35 Gender: Male Height: 6'5'' Weight: 250 lbs Eye Color: Brown Hair Color: Black Appearance:A man of incredible stature, Shinsuke is a driving force in the Amakusa army. He never shows his face, to keep things impersonal between himself and all those he meets, but he does wear a hand-crafted, plate helmet as a recognizable symbol to all that death will follow in his wake. Shinsuke is fascinated with Western armor, as it seems much more durable than what typical Samurai adorn themselves in, and he has the stature to withstand its incredible weight. Because of this, he is covered in it, from head to toe, at all times. Underneath the armor, no one has a clue what he looks like. Personality: Shinsuke is, as his title would imply, a "Butcher." Unlike other Amakusa generals, he is unrelenting, and leaves nothing to chance. While the Amakusa are known for their kindness, he, himself, is known for his violent means of subjugation, which often involve the killing of all: soldiers or not, including women, children, and the elderly and disabled. The Butcher's mentality is that you must cut the plant of hatred out from its roots, and this means you cannot let anyone who may try to kill you for what you've done, live to see another day. In his own words: "If you killed a soldier, and left it at that, do you not realize his family would forever detest you? You would live in constant fear that his brother, his father, his son, someone, would come after you at any moment, and they would be capable of ending your life. Why leave that possibility lingering? You must rip out the hatred by its root: kill all, leave none standing. This way, none can come back to hunt you." History: Very little is known of Shinsuke's past. He has long been a warrior, and has constantly made allegiance with warlords he believed to harbor the greatest might. He recently fell under the employ of the Amakusa, though Takehiro himself detests Shinsuke's means of battle. He has earned his reputation as a commander, personally leveling entire battlefields with a single platoon of soldiers, and, to this day, has not lost a single battle. What did he want? That was fairly simple: he wanted victory over the Takeda and to secure his Eastern expansion, and that would be made much easier with the assistance of a man of Takeda willing to assist him. So, the Daimyo would be straightforward.
"As of now, troop positions, pivotal locations, numbers, whatever you can provide to me within your rank. I will need the name of a high-ranking officer that is neither Yukimura nor Sasuke, and I will forge a note of his defection to the Uesugi, which I would ask you to spread throughout your army, rather than deliver it to your Daimyo. Should this be done, the strife that would result from it would make the Takeda weak, and my army would be able to control every key location in Shinano and Kai without much resistance."
It took a fairly small amount of thought, and it seemed, clearly, to be the best course of action. The Miki were already close to being wiped out, so he didn't need to worry too long about Takeda relations. If he could clear them out, the only true threat left in the East would be the Uesugi, save for Kotaro of the Fuuma ninja.
"Worry not, I have under my command a corp of ninja to rival even Fuuma Kotaro himself. No one will hear what you have to say unless you want them to." The Daimyo smiled calmly, then turned to face the Takeda man. "You do realize how much you are risking in doing this, correct?"

Takehiro's eyes cast themselves upon the man, though he preferred to make no contact. It seemed many within the ranks of the Takdeda held a disdain for them, and many had even left the Takeda to take arms with the Amakusa. Whatever it was Shingen had done to his retainers, clearly it was only working in Takehiro's favor. Before he could agree, however, he had to know more. Standing to his feet, the Daimyo beckoned for the man of Takeda to follow him. As if he had much of a choice in the matter.
"Before I can agree to anything, I need to know what the situation is and what can be offered to me. As you can understand, I cannot, and will not, provide troops to a Takeda officer I have never heard of, just to watch them fall in a trap."
Takehiro could typically tell when one was lying. He was, of course, one of the wisest in the land, and could easily read a person, so he wasn't distrusting of the Takeda man. Instead, he wanted details so that he may mull over ways this could prove fruitful for the Amakusa.

Having been still for a long time, and drowning out the world around him, Takehiro was able to see the man coming if only for a capability he possessed that led to his recent victories. He watched the man approach, though not intentionally, nor did he see him as any sort of target. It was when the man spoke that Takehiro saw him as anything besides a commoner, and that introduction was one that could have gotten him killed were his audience anyone other than Takehiro himself.
"Well, Takeda Nobutoyo... you're not very far from home, but it seems you've ventured into unfriendly territory." Taking another swig of his sake, Takehiro sighed and set the cup down beside him. Aside from that, he made no motion. "I trust you're here for a good reason. If anyone else heard your introduction, your head would not long rest upon your shoulders, I can assure you." He did not mean to come off as rude with his statement, but it was only to be expected with the tension between the two forces. He wasn't about to greet anyone who introduced themselves as "Takeda" with open arms and a jug of sake.
Without drawing any attention to the two, Takehiro would wait for this Nobutoyo's response. He had a reason to be here, whatever it was, and Takehiro wasn't at all suspicious. If the man sought to take his life, he'd be dealt with in a matter of moments, and surely he knew that. So, rather than interrogate, it would be up to the man to say his piece.

At Toshi's old village, right on the border of Totomi and Shinano, were Takehiro and his right-hand man. The two were overseeing the fortifications of their borders to ensure they would be well-prepared in the event the Takeda decided to strike again. While Takehiro was almost certain they would not, this was a necessary step in calming the people under his banner, who lived in constant fear they would be under attack from the Takeda a second time.
"Toshi," Takehiro began, just a few modified siege-ramps lowered a large slab of stone just in front of the wooden walls. A pain shot through his chest, but he remained stoic and showed no signs of discomfort. "I trust you can oversee the rest of this. I must go." Toshi simply nodded, though he did take note of his lord's strange departure. Leaping down from the tower they watched from, Takehiro would head toward the side of the village where the fortifications had yet to begin, but there were a large number of guards on duty.
Sitting himself down in front of a pond, the Daimyo sighed, placing a hand to his chest. He was not long for this world, and the longer his Eastern campaign took, the more disheartened he became. His goal was to at least have the country split, with the Amakusa holding one half, before his passing.
"The Takeda... the Hojo... this will be a pain," he muttered, taking a sip of his sake before leaning back and tilting his hat forward to hide his face.

You'll be rewarded for what you do, and that's the purpose of the stat-based system. You post a lot, you get the rewards for it. I posted the most of the PCs in the last activity spike and because of it, I ended up having the strongest character (relative to 1v1 standards, really. Not saying he could wipe out everyone.). You're welcome to do as many fights/spqs as you'd like, but take into account the staff lull at the moment, so Create-a-Quests won't move on too fast.
Posting a ton is encouraged, and that's the only real way you'll get any sort of exp boost quickly.

Takehiro, having been able to see from the eyes of all present on the battlefield, he noticed Tomonori's charge on Toshi, and also that the Kitabatake forces were dwindling. He would give one last command to each of his commanders to watch the battlefield closely, before deciding this was his time to leap into the conflict himself. Taking his glaive in his hand, Takehiro would leap high into the air, releasing his weights at his highest point. They would crash to the ground, the metric ton shaking it and leaving a large hole where it hit. Using a burst of speed, Takehiro would rush toward Tomonori and his doppelgangers, sweeping outward with his ten-foot glaive several times, forming three full circles around himself. The force behind it would be crushing, and any doppelgangers would, of course, not be harmed. However, Tomonori's body was likely to be crushed in a single blow.
Toshi, noticing Takehiro's advance from having been informed, decided to meet the doppelgangers head-on. Rather than retreat, he utilized his own whirlwind before Tomonori used his, to cause his opponent to stagger and reveal the true target. What's more, upon Takehiro's landing, the Daimyo would unleash his own whirlwind upon his attack, so that the whirlwinds of the Daimyo and his adviser would be much more powerful than the Kitabatake warrior's.
While the common rabble of the Amakusa forces were deterred, the commanders and exceptional units would push onward, taking down any who continued to fight them. They would make a push to claim the city, while Takehiro and Toshi dealt with Tomonori.
[OoC: Weights removed, demon tabi effect utilized. Takehiro's Dex for this post: 145.

Item Name: Flame Blade Materials: Steel (1) Demon Medallion (1) Stats: +5 Str Description: One-hand. This blade is made to be used by the strongest of men, and even then, only those with spiritual attunement are capable of lifting it. The blade is large, but without its flame, it remains dull and boring. However, the more it grows in strength, the sharper and fiercer it becomes. Requires 25 Base Str and 25 Base Spr to wield. Power: This blade calls upon the kinetic energy of the earth itself, and without it, it cannot be used to its full potential. While touching any surface that is not the wielder itself, the blade draws from the planet's energy and becomes lit on fire, the strength of which is determined by the user.
No Flame: Sword deals 1/2 its Str value. Sword Touching Ground for 1 Post: Sword deals Str equal to its regular Str value. Two Posts + = Sword gains Str boost equal to 1/10 user's total Spr stat. This ability may stack up to ten posts. The blade cannot strike and gain flame strength both within the same post. They must be done in separate rounds.
Additionally, the user can expel the flame from the blade with a powerful explosion that deals twice the Str the weapon has gained. (So if the fire has been building for three posts, it'll be at 15 Str, and may deal an explosive backlash of 30) However, this will deplete the blade's energy, and recharging it will take twice as long. (The above charging rubric would be doubled for the same output [i.e. 2 posts to get to it's base Str, 4 posts+ adds 1/10 the user's total Spr. Still stacks at 10 posts])
Despite resembling a flame, this energy is purely kinetic, and deals non-elemental damage.
Material Cost: 120 Stat Cost: 1000 Power Cost: 1000 Total Cost: 120 + 1000 + 1000 = 2120 Yen

"What's happening here?" Asked a bright, young child. A nine-year-old boy, bearing a striking resemblance to Takehiro, wandered out toward the gates of the main camp. He bore a smile on his face as he was attracted to the commotion, and simply watched as the head of the militia opened the way for the Chosokabe emissary. Of course, he had no idea what was going on, but he was interested nonetheless.
"Lord Ryu, she wants to see father?"
The boy stood about as tall as Ryu, with long, black hair. His eyes were bright - but a strange color for one of Japanese descent - and lively. Takehiro, it seemed, was busy, and his son was here at the gates in his stead.

Confident that Brandt and Hidenori could finish off the wounded knights, Takehiro took whatever he could from the knight and rose his Takehi-bow and fired two poison bolts in the area of the new opponents. Whoever it hit, he would then charge it and rip his glaive around in a half-circle in front of himself, looking to cleave at least four of them in half. Regardless of the success of the initial attack, he would continue a quick and powerful offense, suppressing the enemy and keeping them from getting any foothold against his allies. He would, however, lay off the explosives.

Having wielded a blade from the Kitabatake that was capable of conjuring a phantom warrior, this was a tactic Takehiro was not unfamiliar with. And, rather than let it unfold and claim the lives of many of his soldiers, he would act quickly and devise a plan to make them serve no purpose. Every ballista would be armed with fire arrows, and they would rain down upon the main force. The land having caught fire, all mortal foes would likely run away, while the phantoms would show no sign of pain. That said, and should it have succeeded, Takehiro would guide all his men to continue a ranged assault so as to avoid getting in the way of the siege weapons.
Toshi, having been in the way of the fire attack, simply increased the moisture in his immediate area so greatly no flame could touch his body without being immediately doused. He used his close proximity to the main force to fire two hallucinogenic bolts from the Takehi-bow at the Kitabatake army, a 40-yard cloud of hallucinogens exploding to take all that were in its reach. Any soldier who breathed in even a bit of the gas would be overcome with incredible hallucinations and become incapable of fighting.
Brandt, Ryunosuke, and Gabriela were ordered to flank the main force. At the sides they were instructed to go to, they would find cannons and arbalests, as well as small units firing on the Kitabatke.

Despite not being the fastest man in the army, Toshi was incredibly formidable, and it would take a lot more than Ryunosuke's quick movements to catch him off-guard. Quickly, he would pull his spear back so as to not have his movement impaired by the giant, but he would not immediately dodge, as one might think. Given Ryunosuke would be stalled for a moment with the kick connecting against his head, his attack would not have come nearly as fast as he'd intended, so Brandt's would come first. The push would connect, though not as Brandt would have intended. Striking outward with his palm, Toshi would create even more force to launch himself backward and out of the way of Ryunosuke's strike. Upon landing, he would kick a spear up from the ground and launch it toward the smaller man's chest, before parrying the Nord's strike and keeping up a defense. He noticed he was being surrounded, but he would let it play out for a moment.
Takehiro, meanwhile, continued to blow men away with each of his strikes. No matter how often his soldiers tried to circle around him, he would knock them aside and leap out of the area, before continuing to knock his soldiers off their feet. They'd need to think cleverly if they wanted to get anything done here.

[OoC: No official dex boost for weights, as they weren't really bought. For the sake of the training, though, assume your character is faster now than they typically would be.]
Takehiro would notice Brandt's and Ryunosuke's co-operative attacks, and rather than swat Brandt's large weapon away, he would allow them to work against each other. Stepping under Brandt's greatsword, the weapon would continue to charge at Toshi, who would step back and allow it to ram right into Ryunosuke, who kept up an assault where there should have been none. Toshi would then slam a foot forward toward Ryunosuke's chest to push him away, before jabbing his spear at Brandt's now-exposed ribcage.
"Work in tandem with the moves of your allied officers!"
Allowing the heavy-hitters of the force to remain preoccupied with their own bad decisions against Toshi, Takehiro charged straight into the conglomerate of soldiers he challenged. Stabbing his massive glaive into the ground, he would rip it upward, sending out waves of gravel to smash into all who charged at him. He would then spin his weapon around himself, using the flat of the blade to slam into any who still surrounded him.

Toshi would not have withdrawn, and took the gunfire while standing tall, and out of the way of the main Amakusa forces. As he would be fired upon once again, he would release another two explosive bolts in front of himself to blast away the bullets aimed at him, and the Amakusa ninja would have flanked the main unit from all sides by now. While the Kitabatake did manage to take down a few trebuchets, they failed to account for the catapults as well, which continued to rip through their ranks indiscriminately. The enemy decided to try and continue an offense, and they were no match for the brilliant tactics the Amakusa Daimyo displayed. Because they did not run when they had the chance, they were surrounded, and regardless of how many trebuchets they destroyed, they would be overwhelmed in a matter of moments. The ballistae from atop the hill were also firing down on them, preventing their continued assault.
The commanders assisting Brandt continued to charge after the Kitabatake commanders, swinging their heavy weapons down at the enemies' kneecaps to break them and immobilize the enemy, before impaling them through the heads. They would disorganize the units by taking out as few people as possible.
As Tomomosa took aim down on Ryunosuke, the Amakusa commander armed with his rifles took aim at the man's chest and fired off two rounds, both to assist the head of the militia and to eliminate the foe.

Ayumi and Megumi would take note of the man's strange powers, nod, and make their leave. Using their abilities, they would stick to the shadows and make their way out from the castle and head back to the main force. They would be sure to avoid any conflict on the way out of the castle. Once they were back to the main force, the ninja unit would move around to the back of the Kitabatake main force to cut off their supply line into the city.
As the rifle units fired on Toshi, the man acted quickly. Armed with explosive bolts in the Takehi-bow, he would fire them into the ground in front of himself. The explosion would cause all the bullets to veer off-course and away from him. From there, he would summon the wave to act as a spear of sorts, launching it toward the rifle units to render their gunpowder useless, and, in turn, their rifles and cannons that remained. Once that was successful, Toshi would point forward with his spear and trebuchets would begin rolling toward the force, and catapults would launch large, fire-covered stones at the army.
Brandt's unit would be provided heavy back-up in two full assault units. The assault units would flank the force attacking the ballistae, making a three-pronged defense against the advancing force. Riflemen would unleash a hail of bullets upon the main troops, and the commanders of each unit would charge to strike down those who went after Brandt.
(OoC: Commanders: 45 Str, 40 Con, 35 in other stats)
As Tomomosa's unit charged into the trees, the fire units would drop their sake bombs and pull out halberds, with which they would strike down the fleeing Kitabatake men from their hiding places. Having forced the enemy into a corner, they would continue to press the advantage and utilize their momentum. One officer, armed with two rifles, would fire shots aimed directly at Tomomosa's kneecaps.

Ayumi nodded to the man's question, eying his writings. "Those who do not take up arms will not be seen as our enemy. Our Lord will spare the lives of those who do not throw theirs away in a losing battle." The woman crossed her arms, looking around herself. "Your sons will continue to fight on, even at the risk of losing their kin?"
The ballistae served their purpose, causing the Kitabatake to rethink their tactics. The granite wall would eventually shatter, but immediately as it did, the arbalests behind it would fire steel bolts toward the main force in thousands at a time. The sheer number of arbalests would be enough to wipe out at least the cannon units, and they would fire in three waves, due to the time it took to reload the weapons.
The units who met the flanking force would not relent, continuing to rain down a hail of arrows atop the force. The brush surrounding them would eventually be lit entirely aflame by the sake bombs to trap them in, or severely burn them should they try to escape. A direct path to the Amakusa main force was cut off by burning brush and forestry.
Brandt would be instructed to meet the units advancing toward the ballistae, and he would have the aid of the units hidden within the trees. His job would be to intercept them and keep them from damaging the siege weapons, which were crucial to the battle. Ryunosuke and Gabriela would quickly be urged to meet the flanking force and halt them in their advance. Toshi would ride in to meet the main force with Takehiro's crossbow in hand, his target being the pesky fire-wielder. As he charged, he would conjure up a wave of water from the moisture in the air - combined with the sweat the countless soldiers in the area would have dropped - to launch toward the Kitabatake main force to keep their cannons from having any successful, direct fire. The size and shape of the cannon balls would cause them to slap hard against the wave and lose any momentum they had, while the bolts of the arbalest were sharp and pointed and would be able to rip through it with ease.

One of Takehiro's arms would slam downward, aiming to redirect the enemy's glaive and slam it right onto the floor. From there, the whip-fist would shoot out to explode upon the bastard's chest. Takehiro would then follow up by impaling it, and ripping the glaive from its body to rend it into two halves.
If he succeeded, Takehiro would aim a whip-fist at both Hidenori's and Brandt's enemies and send explosives into their backs.

"Lord Kitabatake," Megumi walking into the room with her blades at her sides. They would not be held in a threatening manner, though Ayumi watched the doorway at the ready, willing to kill any who threatened the talks of peace. "I believe I would be correct in assuming you know the might of the Amakusa army. Our Daimyo alone was capable of leveling one of your entire fleets." Megumi would pause, allowing that to sink in. "We come here not for your life, but to negotiate surrender. We hold, within our custody, four men who bear the name of the Kitabatake, and as it is now, their lives have not been compromised. Should you convince your forces to surrender, they would be spared, and you would be allowed a portion of your land to live out the rest of the era as you see fit. Your territory would bear the Mon of the Amakusa, and your forces would find for Lord Takehiro, though you would be guaranteed your safety, and that of your kin."
Megumi paused once again, though she would continue after a moment. "However, if your forces do not discontinue their assault, all who fight against my Lord and husband will perish, your family included. Alone, our Daimyo took Shima, and now he has brought an army to Ise. Tell me, how long do you expect your forces to last?"
Outside, Takehiro would not speak just yet. The Daimyo shut his eyes atop his horse, and gained an overview of the battlefield through the eyes of all who were present. He watched the Kitabatake forces move, and would have his troops act accordingly. As it were, Brandt, Ryunosuke, Gabriella, and Toshi were instructed - telepathically, it seemed - to stay where the were for now.
As the forces began to move, Takehiro's army would act. Seige ramps had been modified to carry a large slab of granite, and as the cannons fired, the ties holding that slab up were cut. It would fall, acting as a wall between the Amakusa and Kitabatake main forces, taking the brunt of the cannons. It would not last very long, but it was long enough to minimize casualties and prepare a swift counterattack. The ballistae hidden in the trees and atop the hills would begin to fire on the cannon unites without relent, intent on slaughtering them to prevent further cannon-fire. Meanwhile, arbalests were being set up behind the wall of granite. Catapults were being armed, as well.
As the Kitabatake force that broke off went around to attempt and flank the Amakusa forces proceeded along their path, they would walk right into an ambush. Amakusa ninja, armed with sake bombs and bows, would wait for the group on four fronts: two on either side of the path on the high ground, one to wait for them to pass and attack from behind, and one to meet them head-on, though still hidden in the brush. As the force passed, the two on either side would throw out sake bombs, creating walls of fire on either side of them, while the two on the high ground would unleash a hail of arrows down onto the enemy. Those who throw the sake bombs would continue to do so, using the confusion that would ensue to their advantage.
