Yukimura: The bandits sword was struck to the side, and Yukimura's spear struck through his flesh, ripping through and effectively disemboweling him.
- 1 Bandit.
Takehiro: While the group of bandits patrolled the one side of the village, a tall, bulky figure burst through one of the huts, charging them! He wielded a katana in each hand. + 1 Villager.
Str: 10(2) Con: 13 Dex: 12 Wis: 10 Spr: 5
Katsumi: The arrow soared from her bow, piercing the bandit's head before he could reach her. His body continued toward her for another few seconds, until it fell to the floor.
- 1 Bandit.
Kamaitachi: The frame of the building underneath the mercenary would collapse as a hand broke through, taking the man by the ankle and aiming to slam him onto the ground. He wielded an iron gauntlet on either hand.
+ 1 Villager.
Str: 10(2) Con: 10 Dex: 13 Wis: 12 Spr: 5
Masaru: Masaru had very little time to speak with the elder, who retreated further into the village, and during the conversation, two of the bandits inside the village had charged toward him, each aiming to stab their katanas into his side.

Masanobu frowned slightly. The respect was nice and all, but he hadn't met a Samurai with a spine in the longest time. It almost seemed like this kid might be different, but so far he wasn't. Still, his swordplay wasn't a joke - not entirely refined, but no joke. He figured he would finish up with what he was doing, though, just in case. Juuust in case.
"Where'd you learn your swordplay, kid?"
He crossed his arms, watching the boy. No name right now, but that wasn't entirely important. Scouting the men of the territory, and their skill-sets, was his job.

[OoC: Participants may still join after this post, but they may only do so after Kamaitachi posts.
Post order: 1) Sanada Yukimura - Village 2) Amakusa Takehiro - Bandits 3) Shinomori Katsumi - Village 4) Yoritomo Tetsuo - Bandits 5)
The bandits made their charge, effectively reaching the entrance to the village. Twelve of the nameless men would charge the front, and the other eight would split into two groups and make their way around the perimeter of the village, aiming to pillage and plunder while the soldiers of the village were preoccupied. Ten of the bandits would enter combat with the ten village soldiers, and the other two made a charge toward Yukimura and Katsumi.
Yukimura: The bandit charged, aiming to thrust his blade through the Samurai's armor and run him through!
Katsumi: The bandit charged wildly, quickly gaining distance. He held his blade above his head, and was ready to slash it down upon the archer's skull.
The Bandit Chief hung back, watching his men, weapon at the ready. The Village Elder made his way back into the village, to attempt to deal with the eight men who'd begun to ransack the village.

Advanced Weapon Rules Not every weapon is a one-handed Katana. Some weapons are going to be heavier than others, some are ranged. Here, the rules behind these weapons will be explained. Two-Handed Weapons: These weapons will take up your primary and secondary weapon slots in your inventory. Also, sometimes they will affect your speed negatively, decreasing your dexterity when striking. The bonuses to these weapons is that they will generally provide you with added bonuses, such as extended reach, or increased strength. Dual-Wielding Weapons: Two one-handed weapons can be used at the same time. This allows you to attack more quickly than someone with only one weapon, though this generally comes at the cost of less strength. Also, when caught in a deadlock, you do not get the bonus of your weapon strength factored into your average, making it easier for you to lose. Ranged Weaponry: Bows, rifles, and throwing weapons - these are all usable both in ranged combat and melee combat, making them doubly effective, as compared to other weapons. Ranged weapons offer greatly increased attack damage when attacking from a distance, but less bonus attack than other weapons when striking up close. A bonus of ranged weaponry: Dexterity factors in with attacking at a distance. +1 str is added to attack for every 3 dexterity. Ranged Rules Continued: The following is specific to ranged weaponry involving gunpowder (namely rifles or pistols). These weapons are generally stronger than bows, or other ranged weapons, but can only be fired once per post. They must be reloaded before they can be used again, but they can be reloaded and fired in the same post.

A large group of bandits is setting up a raid on a small village, and they are drawing nearer by the second. The fate of this village is in your hands.
This is a group quest, in which players will battle with, or against each other. To participate, post after this and state your character's entrance and side. If they are siding with the bandits, post the approach, and if they are siding with the village, post the defense.
Objective: You will either aid the village, or aid the bandits. The battle will continue until the Village Elder or the Bandit Chief is slain.
Bandit Chief Stats: Str: 15 (18) Dex: 15 Con: 20 Wis: 15 Spr: 15
Village Elder Stats: Str: 10 (13) Dex: 20 Con: 20 Wis: 20 Spr: 10
Bandits: 20 total. Str: 10 (12) Dex: 10 Con: 10 Wis: 10 Spr: 10
Village Militia: 10 total. Str: 10 (12) Dex: 10 Con: 10 Wis: 10 Spr: 10
Rewards: Based on individual contribution and side taken. Awarded upon the event's completion.
Participants: 1) Sanada Yukimura - Village 2) Amakusa Takehiro - Bandits 3) Shinomori Katsumi - Village 4) Yoritomo Tetsuo - Bandits 5) Masaru Oda - Village
"There they are! Burn the place down! Take the women, and all of the valuables! Leave no man standing!"
The group of bandits, 21 men strong, charged toward the village, each wielding a katana. They will reach the village in the next round.
"All able-bodied men, to arms!"
The village Elder stood at the edge of the village with ten men, each also wielding katanas. They weren't Samurai, they were just men looking to protect their families from these bandits.
Village Description: The village community itself was small, but it was a farming community, making their land expanse fairly large. There are no walls around the territory, and it is located in a plain, by the river. The "entrance" is marked by an arc crafted of wood.

It seems the soldiers in your camp have been getting soft. Your lordship wishes to change this! A tournament will be set up as a form of endurance training for the men. But this is going to be a different sort of tournament - One man (or woman) will step into the ring, and a challenger will step in with them. The loser leaves the ring, the winner stays, and a new challenger will step in. Those who can last the longest amount of rounds in the ring will be rewarded! It's like training, but fun!
Objective: Fight off as many challengers as you can! Your lord is watching! You must take down no less than three people, if you want to look good! Challenger's stats are all 10 in each category.
Reward: Up to +3 Con.

The boy's tense grip only made the Samurai grin. He was watchful, it seemed, but not watchful enough to notice someone who'd been near him for as long as he had. Though, despite the grip he currently had on his sword, he would find the Samurai's at his throat in an instant.
"I'd watch who you point your blade at, if I were you, kid."
He grinned, pulling his sword back and sheathing it. "The name's Shibata Masanobu. I'm a retainer to lord Oda Nobunaga." Masanobu looked the kid up and down, still only observing him.

Masaru would find a Samurai had been watching his training since he began. The man seemed to observe his every move, almost studying, and yet his demeanor showed no real interest. As Masaru cut the logs into pieces, the man let out a sharp whistle. "Well, looks like the guy's got a bit of skill!" He stood to his feet, dusting the dirt off his ass, and approached Masaru, leaving a good gap between the two before he stopped. The Samurai observed the chopped wood closely, grunting as though he was putting something together in his head. "Logs ain't much, though."

Trials of the Gods When Samurai grow in strength, the Gods themselves bestow upon these warriors a task to prove their worth. These tasks are no trivial matter, and cannot be completed by any man with a Katana. They are perilous, and the chance of survival is minimal. For those who have passed the first task bestowed upon them, the second is even more arduous and taxing, and they only prove to be more difficult as they go on. These ten trials, though difficult, are not without reward. If Samurai can prove their worth before the Gods, they will be granted powerful gifts, the likes of which could control the tide of any battle. But this is no challenge for the weak. Proceed at your own peril.Rules for Trials of the Gods:1) To apply for these trials, copy and paste the form (below) and post in this thread. 2) You must reach the rank of Samurai (150 posts) before you may apply to be eligible for the Trials. 3) Musou is not required for these tasks, but it is highly recommended that you receive one before you take them on. 4) You may only complete one task at any time. You cannot start one and move on to another without completing the one you have started. 5) Once you have chosen the God for whom you will perform the trials, there is no going back. You may halt the trials if you wish, but you may not take up trials from another God. The list of Gods is below. 6) Items obtained from these trials may not be sold. They may, however, be upgraded, fused, and traded. 7) You are not guaranteed success. These trials will be difficult. If you fail, you may try again as many times as you like from the beginning of the trial. 8) These trials are GMed quests. One member of Staff, one player character. No two characters may undergo trials together. 9) Many of the events in these trials will be based on dice rolls and coin tosses to mix these up. Name: Uesugi Kenshin Faction: Uesugi Ethnicity: Japanese Age: 30 Gender: Male Height: 5'10'' Weight: 165 lbs Eye Color: Brown Hair Color: Brown Appearance:Uesugi Kenshin's body has reached a point of physical perfection, from his near endless training. The way of the samurai has been the one he's followed since he was a child, and it certainly shows in his physique. Unlike most other Daimyos, there are next to no scars on Kenshin's body, and this is due to his unparalleled skill as a warrior. His unwounded body is his trophy, a reminder to all who would face him, that he has not once been wounded in battle. Personality: Kenshin is a very pious man, frequenting trips to temples at every opportunity he has. And if he isn't praying, he's practicing swordsmanship. These are the two things that define the warlord more than anything else. War and religion. Kenshin is comparable to Shingen in wisdom, boasting a large array of tactical knowledge, despite his younger age, and shorter time in the battlefield. History: Uesugi Kenshin, born in the year 1530, rules over the province of Echigo. Despite his lack of territory, he is undoubtedly one of the stronger warlords of the Sengoku period, and is widely regarded as a skillful administrator, prioritizing trade local industries. Since his rule began, Echigo prospered. For the past seven years, he has been in an all-out war against the Takeda, fighting all of their battles on the same battlefield, neither gaining any lead. Stats:Strength: 30 (32) Dexterity: 35 (37) Constitution: 25 (27) Wisdom: 30 Musou: 30(40) Inventory:Slot | Item(s) | Weapons |
| Primary | Bishamonten's Blade: +10 Str, +10 Spr. This blade seems to have been blessed by Bishamonten, the God of War. Simply wielding it seems to boost the user's Spirit. Spirit boost applicable at all times. Power: Striking with this blade seems to bring the earth with it. When striking, a trail of gravel follows your blade's path, firing at the target after each swing.

Rules
Jan 28, 2014 18:42:31 GMT -7
Post by Oda Nobunaga on Jan 28, 2014 18:42:31 GMT -7
Combat Rules Some things were mentioned in the previous post, and I'll be going over those again, but here you will find all of the rules for combat. - No God-modding, or controlling another player's character without their written consent.
- None of the "IDTHS" stuff. Be reasonable; you won't land every hit, and you won't dodge every blow.
- Stats are required for combat. No "I fight without stats," this is a stat board. Stats are your friend, they are there to reward you for what you've accomplished. They are to be used.
- All weapon effects are applied when striking with your weapon only, unless they state otherwise. If your sword makes all of your slashes and stabs imbued with flame, this will not apply to punches and kicks, unless it is specifically stated "all attacks are blessed with a flame element," or something to that effect.
- Weapons can break, in combat, and if this were to happen, you would have to use another weapon, or rely on hand-to-hand combat. Broken weapons are no longer usable in the thread, but they are repaired after. Weapons can break in several different situations; you could strike your blade against a very rough surface, for example. Weapon-breaking will usually only occur in GM'd threads. It may occur in duels, but this is up to the discretion of the participants.
- Deadlocks are settled in a stat check. This check will take the average of your Dex and Str and pit it against your opponent. So, 1/2(Dex + Str) versus the opponent's 1/2(Dex + Str). Whoever's average is higher will win the deadlock.

Plot
Jan 28, 2014 17:06:52 GMT -7
Post by Oda Nobunaga on Jan 28, 2014 17:06:52 GMT -7
The year is 1560. The country is in turmoil. Countless warlords have taken it upon themselves to reunite the war-torn lands, and they have amassed armies to do so. This has given rise to such great Daimyos as Oda Nobunaga, Takeda Shingen, and Uesugi Kenshin.
Intent on making his name known, Oda Nobunaga has taken up arms against the powerful Imagawa Yoshimoto. This battle is to be one of the deciding factors in the course of the country's future. The Fool of Owari had barely taken the reigns of his province, and his ambition fueled him.
The Takeda and the Uesugi have a long-standing rivalry, having waged war on each other constantly for the past seven years. As the Oda and Imagawa begin to face off in a decisive battle, so too do the Takeda and the Uesugi, each intent on crushing the other. These powerful forces will bring upon the world a bout which would shake the planet to its very core.
This is where you come in. How will you help to shape the future of Japan? Would you help the Oda see to the Imagawa's demise, or would you assist the Imagawa, and eliminate Nobunaga, the most ambitious and powerful daimyo, before his rise to power?
Japan, the war-torn country, can be molded by you. All you need to do is seize the opportunity.

Duels Duels are another means of gaining stat points. For every duel you complete (win, loss, or draw, doesn't matter) you will receive +1 to any stat you wish. For every additional person you fight, you will gain another +1 exp. This means that if you were to fight two people at once, you would get +2 exp. Duels must be submitted to staff for review upon completion. They will issue a statement at the end of the thread, and if you earned your +1. This is to keep people from abusing the dueling system. An example of what we don't want to see: "Jack slashed at John." "John blocked and kicked Jack." "Jack is unconscious now." "Both players get +1 exp." Have fun! Get out there and duel if you want to! Just put some effort into it if you want the stat reward.

Event and Quest Rewards Rewards for large events and quests will be handed out at Staff's discretion. These rewards are generally in the form of stat-increases or unique items. You will never receive an item from a quest, that you can purchase from the store. For battles, rewards will not be based on who wins and who loses, they will be determined by individual effort. Your side could lose, but if you were to put forth the largest contribution to the battle, you would likely receive the best reward. SPQs are quests that can only be done once. That is to say, you can not complete the same SPQ several times and hope for a reward, as none will be given out a second time. You can still do others, but none may be repeated. You are allowed to do only 4 SPQs per month. These grant you up to +3 in any specific stat category, and they are graded by how much effort you put into your post. +1 for completing the objectives. +1 for showing growth. +1 for clear effort. Monthly Quests will have rather eccentric rewards, as they will generally require rather strange objectives to be fulfilled. These will often have better rewards than SPQs, but they will not best Event rewards. The grading rubric for SPQs and MEs is roughly the same, though MEs may offer more than just stats. Create-A-Quests will have rewards based on the quest created. If you will be performing a stealth mission, be it to gather intel or assassinate a high value target, you will be given a gold reward, and something to suit that. If you are doing a battle, you will likely be given a weapon, or armor. The grading rubric is different for these, as they will be GMed quests. They will rely on whether or not you complete your task, and how much you grow, and how well you perform throughout the quest. Rewards may vary from small to large. Events will give the largest rewards on the board. Events may range from full-out war between factions, or negotiations. Anything very important and plot-driven will go here. Occasionally, events will be something like the Battle of Okehazama, which is the Oda versus the Imagawa. Naturally, no other sides were involved in this fight. However, this could not stop your force from being involved, so long as they do not hinder the progress of the plot. This means that, while the battle would be Oda versus Imagawa, the Uesugi could intervene on behalf of the Oda and provide support in exchange for some brownie points. Rewards will be given out for events based on overall contribution. You don't have to be the strongest one present to do the most. That being said, characters must also know their limits. If several characters were fighting a powerful NPC, and one of those characters took a heavy blow and he logically chose to be incapacitated, while others opted to keep fighting even though they probably couldn't, chances are the one who was incapacitated is going to get a pretty nice reward.
