So an idea I had was throwing around some of these War Lords IC and make some recruitment and training quests.
How would you guys like to see those kind of quests being around?
And if staff does do it, what kind rewards would you guys be interested in receiving? IE: Money, items, stat points.
OR if you guys have any other ideas about any other quests. Just go ahead and post them right up here.

Honestly I was wondering when you guys were going to do that XD Personally I think maybe the rewards should be based on the achievement maybe? Whatever you guys more or less deem fit so long as there is a consistency in the distribution if that makes sense?

Our low member count really makes a lot of things a bit difficult when trying to utilize the Daimyos IC. We only have one Takeda member (Yukimura), one Uesugi member (Hidenori), no active Oda members (who is the central force right now), the majority of players are flocking to Mercenary or the Hojo.
I think they just see the faction boost and go for it, or are not sure of what Daimyo does what and so they just pick Mercenary to begin with since there isn't much knowledge needed in being one compared to actively knowing about your force. Maybe we could put up some descriptions to help with this.

For sure I kinda noticed this a lot. I do agree it would be best for everyone to have a good sense of the ideals and such of each Daimyo so that it would give more people incentives on writing a character that would follow who and why and so forth.

I'll see about getting descriptions up of the Oda, Takeda, and Uesugi first since they're the most important ones for our state of the board (sorry Date, you aren't important until later. >.>). Oda is the first bad guy/major quest villain, so yeah.
Edit: Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing how that goes with the recruitment.

I think that's fine. I think you guys should certainly be doing that without question for sure.
But a description for the factions or rather mainly the leaders and I guess their ideology would help as well for say new players to make a decision outside of possibly recruitment. I hope I'm making sense I still feel blah and such from being sick. XD

I know at least for me, I definitely have gone with mercenary because 1) that really just fits my character ideas and 2) because I do not know the ideals of the various factions. I really do think it would further help people decide what they make their characters.
Personally, I am planning on having Katsumi help the Uesugi, and I would love to see a recruitment of sorts. For her to meet Kenshin. I would assume for mercenaries in particular that there would be training sessions, and testing to see if the fighters are fit. I would love for that to happen with Katsumi.
As for the rewards, EXP is always nice, as well as items and even money, but I think it should be left up to the discretion of the staff, taking into factor how much the roleplayer put into their thread and task, how long it is, and what the character is doing. I definitely trust the staff on all of that. So far all of the rewards I have been given, I felt were perfect and fairly given.

Biggest reason I'm iffy on rewards for training/recruitment threads (big rewards, anyway) is they can be abused. Defection is a definite possibility, and mercs can go wherever they want to fight. I could easily have Tak train with the Oda and get that reward, but he ends up not liking them so he trains with the Date, and so on. That's what I want to avoid.

Yeah, I can see that being a problem. To avoid that, you could perhaps make it so that, while you can go on multiple sides (for mercs), you can only get a reward(s) once, to keep it fair.

Okay then here's a couple proposed rules.
*When you join a faction, you cannot change it until at least 30 Days from that date. So for example if you join Date today February 12th. You can't leave it until March 14th. *When changing factions you lose all faction bonuses from the previous faction and gain the faction bonus of the new faction. *When leaving a faction you lose any items given to you by that faction's leader. For example if I gave out an item like: "Date Vest - A vest with the symbol of Date on the back of it. +3 Dex." And if you left Date you would give up the vest when you left Date.
Does that seem fair to everyone?

I like that as well. Although, for mercenaries, perhaps the player could choose whether to keep the mercenary bonus or to drop it and take on the faction's? Just a thought there. ^^;

Well it all depends.
If you're a mercenary contracted to a group like Date, you don't get any of the faction bonuses and you don't get any of the faction items, because you're not technically part of the faction.
But if you're a mercenary and you switch factions to Date, you would lose your mercenary bonus and take the factions cause you're not technically a mercenary anymore, you're part of that faction.
At least that's my take on it. What do you guys say?

Yeah, as a Mercenary you can simply be hired to fight for that faction during the battle, instead of joining their faction entirely. That way, you keep your faction bonus. Although, what would Mercenaries get out of these training threads if they participate in them but not actually join the faction?

Hmmm... I see what you mean. I suppose I meant more of... if a mercenary is only temporarily joining a side, likely due to being paid, they would still be a merc. Unless stated otherwise, they would have been hired. ... Right? o.o
At least, that's what I imagine in the case of my own character. She wouldn't want to permanently be a part of the faction, and wouldn't even see herself being a member, as her working for them will only be temporary. She would always be a mercenary, first and foremost. At least, that's what I'm thinking. I very well may not be understanding any of this. Eh heh~
Sorry if I'm coming across as argumentative, or something! Just wanted to put my thought process out there. ^^;

Mercs are sometimes hired by military groups, or something, aren't they? Especially back in the day, I'd think so. I'm not sure though. I very well could just be talking out of my ass. xD
And uh... well, I personally imagine that they would probably want to train with the faction. They need to be worked out and tested, as well. They are getting paid to fight, and for that money I would think the factions would want to make sure they are at the top of their games. Maybe...?

Dunno if you should lose meritorious items. Warlord items should only be given out for performing some feat worthy of recognition, and I don't think that's worthy of being stripped for defection or something, unless the character would willingly give it up. There's also the fact that literally every item is upgradable, unless tagged otherwise. If you upgraded the Date Vest into something else, it's not technically a Date item anymore, though it was still technically given by the Lord.
So, if Tak joined the Date for a battle and earned that vest, for example, and later I upgraded it into: "Merc's Vest: A comfortable vest adorning the Mon of the wearer's family. +7 Dex", what would happen to the item? Would we strip the original +3 Dex from the Date?

Kat I hate to say it but that's just part of being a merc though. Mercenary's didn't generally train with whatever group they were hired for. Especially because in most cases Mercenary's were the front line and just kinda meant to be used as bullet shields. And since they get the double money bonus when they're hired anyways it equals out.
How about a special type of item then.
Faction Item: Can only be worn by a character in that faction. Cannot be sold, traded, or fused. May be stored for later use.

We either make a new slot for it or it goes into the Misc section.
And I might have missed something, I dunno, but the faction bonus applies only for the faction your character is in. If you're a merc fighting for the Uesugi, you're still a merc. If you're Date and you're aiding the Takeda, you're still Date.

Ah. Understood. Then they should be slot add-ons, 'cuz if Date peeps get a +3 Dex vest, I can make something better as a merc in no time at all that'll take the same slot, with the custom item system. It'd give them a li'l somethin' somethin' without having to spend their money.

Alright that works. We can have smaller items that are add ons like the Vest.
But then what if we do something like "Standard Date Boots - +5 Dex." Something like that would be considered an actual item?
