Takehiro and Toshi both looked at Haji, clearly concerned. Takehiro's lips curled into a frown, which only deepened and would look quite comical if he didn't seem so damn serious.

"No, I..." he stopped for a moment, looking up into the sky. That wasn't. No one bested him in battle. No one could. "I seem to have misplaced it."

Because that makes so much sense.

UPGRADING
Bear Claws: Blades that attach to the front of greaves, that leaves scars like bear claws. +10 Str when kicking.

Demon Sabatons: *THREE UPGRADES* Demon Medallion (1) Glass (1) Steel (1) These sabatons are incredibly large and heavy, almost incapable of being wielded by most people. There are blades along the feet that are sharp and can cut through most objects with ease, and the steel on them is incredibly durable. When your hands are busy, these are the perfect weapon. +25 Str when kicking. Requires 25 base Str. to wield.
Power: The blades of these sabatons are laced with a powerful poison that has varying effects. When the blade cuts into someone's flesh and the steel touches their bloodstream, the poison rapidly takes a hold of them, causing them to see illusions. These illusions vary in severity depending on the size of the cut and the amount of uses per thread. They can be as severe as seeing everything around you melting, including yourself, or they can be as simple as seeing three Takehiro's instead of just one. The poison does no physical harm to the one affected, all mental. Effects last three posts.

The Hero:
Toss-up between Kenji and Haji. Kenji does what Kenji does, and it makes sense for him to be here I think. The whole "saving the miko" thing was awesome, and if the quest went more how I wanted it (i.e. no time constraints. Damn it, Okehazama) it would have been even better for him. Haji, look at the guy. Walking beacon of light. When he becomes a Daimyo, he's going to be like... a Beacon of Light-er.
The Sidekick:
Whoever the other one of the two is.

Sagi/Sakkaku. Sagi is the brains, Sakkaku is the "imma-fuck-you-up."

Brandt. Took on a warlord and his army to save a young girl. Siriusly, that man is the badass-est nice guy there is.

The Smart One:
Don't wanna toot my own horn, but Takehiro Takehiro Takehiro. I don't think he's made any bad decisions whatsoever, and as far as the "strategist" thing goes, he can command an entire fleet/army from his throne. You don't get badasser-strategist than that.
The Just Plain Clueless One:
Yukimura. Thieves' Town was started because he just wanted to get some revenge, didn't know the Bandit Chief was one of Tak's generals now. Got a war instead. I guess they fall in the same category.

Newbie of the Month:
Kenji. I know he's been around for a while, but his activity only recently kicked up. During his time here, he's been an incredibly active poster, and a seriously awesome guy to have both OoC and IC. If there's one "newbie" who makes a big contribution to this board, it's him.
Roleplayer of the Month:
I have to give this one to Shou/Ieyasu/Gabs. The guy recently became a helper and the GMing he's been doing since has been quite stellar. Not to mention Shou is ALWAYS true to his character, like in A Matter of Pride he's conflicted due to the fact the Amakusa may go to war with the Takeda. He's also willing to take on guys with higher stats because he's one of those who don't metagame, which is nice. He'll make decisions that maybe aren't the brightest OoC, but IC they make the MOST sense of any. You gou, Shou.
Character of the Month:
Buranto Soruveeg. This badass Nord has had quite a bit of development from what I see, and it's awesome. He's showing other sides to him that are refreshing and new to the character, and he's getting out there and developing relationships.
Thread of the Month: Thieves' Town. Incited what is very likely to develop into a full-scale war and it took little-to-no admin pushing or prodding to get it to happen. It just took miscommunication and a lack of sharing plot devices, but in all it served to REALLY add on to the IC drama, which is good. This is a board about Warring States, you won't always be goody-goody with the neighboring Daimyo.

It was early in the morning, the sun barely peeking up over the horizon. The clouds in the sky almost covered out all of the sun's light, and the wind was harsh and strong. And Takehiro was loving every second of it. With Toshi at his side, Takehiro stood in the center of his camp. At the same time, the two would cup their hands over their mouths and shout,

"RISE AND SHINE, LADIES!"
"RISE AND SHINE, LADIES!"

All Amakusa troops would be ushered out of their barracks and put into ranks once they were awake. Time for some TRAINING.

Takehiro would put a shroud of darkness around Kenji as the arrows were fired in his direction, keeping them from hitting him. Any arrows fired on his own person would be swatted aside by a single, powerful swing of his glaive. Taking aim at the archers, Takehiro would send out dark tendrils to rip through their hearts, and he would continue the assault until they were all taken out.

Dedication is all Takehiro required. He would train any who had the drive, but very few could keep up with him. Takehiro had already seen what this man was capable of, so he had high hopes for the foreigner. And, to have such a "student" was certainly something he would take pride in. Though he was never one for the "Student/Master" talk, but that's a bit of rambling.

"Let's leave the talk of "favors" out of it, shall we? I won't help you train because I want you to owe me anything, I'll do so because I believe you can handle it." The Daimyo smiled, waving over a group of his men. "I want you lot to go and pick up my weights from right outside. Can you do that for me?" The men would nod and head out.

If Brandt looked, he could see all of the men - ten in total - struggling to lift the weights Takehiro carried on his ankles. Five would hold each, and their steps would be staggered and slow. The weights would be dropped off to the front of the tavern after a few minutes.

"When you're ready to begin, I would like you to try those on."

Takehiro smiled at Brandt's request, and so did Toshi, simply because he knew that look. He would set a jug of ale and sake on the table before returning to his business, while Takehiro addressed the giant. Takehiro was undoubtedly intrigued by the idea, and were it another man who made the request, he was unsure of whether or not he'd comply. But this Brandt fellow could hold his own in battle. With Takehiro's training, he'd become a fearsome warrior.

"You've helped me people, I hear, you can hold your own in a fight, and you're not a bad guy at all." Takehiro nodded, downing some more sake. "It would be an honor, friend."

Toshi is quite a tall man, especially by Japanese standards. On top of being so monstrously tall, Toshi is also incredibly well-built, boasting a physique unparalleled by any warrior in the country. Every muscle on his body is incredibly defined, making apparent the extensive training he took part in for the majority of his life. There is an incredible amount of scars all across his body from fights he's been in, the most notable being an almost "X" shape formed on his back, from an injury he suffered in his childhood.

Personality: Toshi is a kind man when it comes to those he's close to, namely Takehiro and the men and women from his old gang. They are his family, and he'd do anything for them, valuing their lives above his own. He'll make it a point to protect them no matter the cost, even willing to risk his life should it come to that (though it never has, considering the man is a beast). Around those he cares about, he can always be seen as a happy man, constantly laughing and telling jokes, and never afraid to talk to people he's never met.

Two of the biggest things with Toshi are honor and respect. Respect yourself, respect your friends and family, respect the people you do not know, be they above you or below you in rank. Take pride in your home, where you come from, and where you are now. If you show any sort of disrespect to him, his home, or his family, that's when you get on his bad side.

Despite having been a bandit chief, Toshi is surprisingly kind when it comes to combat situations. He is, undoubtedly, ruthless as he should be, though he treats his opponents with far more respect than they would treat him. It is simply a rule he lives by.

After having been taken in by Takehiro and the people of Totomi, the old gang of bandits has taken it upon themselves to reform their lives for the good of those who welcomed them. They all had a second chance at life, because of a man they fought alongside in a raid having come to power, and it is not a chance any of them will waste.

History: Yamada Toshi was once a fair man, who lived an honest life. He and his brother, Yamada Yoshi, both served in the Imagawa forces for 18 years, before turning to a peaceful life and leading a village for several years together. The village was a growing one, finding itself on the border of Totomi and Shinano. It was a peaceful place, despite all the chaos in the land, and the Yamada brothers successfully provided good lives for their people.

Of the two brothers, Toshi was the one who did the majority of the work, and the people saw this, so they came to adore him. Yoshi was liked, though he was never in any spotlight, which grew to make the man jealous, and would eventually lead to the village's destruction. Jealousy is a powerful thing.

Toshi was out with several of the village's men on a hunt to bring back a big haul that would hopefully last the people a couple of days. During this time, Yoshi hired bandits to ransack the village. With their hero gone, there was no way they could be protected, and the place was destroyed. Yoshi, in his anger, would rape and murder Toshi's wife and daughter, the bandits he hired having their way with the rest of the women and slaying any men who tried to fight back. By the time Toshi returned, the place was a wreck, and the discovery of his dead and defiled wife and daughter destroyed him, allowing Yoshi to push the men out of the village. He would successfully claim it for his own.

For about two years, Toshi and his men turned to the life of bandits, having had their home and families taken from them. Once they felt they were strong enough, though, they launched an attack on the village, looking to wipe the true bandits off the face of the earth. Toshi made it his mission to kill his brother.

Having hired two very capable mercenaries by the names of Amakusa Takehiro and Yoritomo Tetsuo, Toshi led the charge on his village. Yoshi, now the elder, had sent out a call for help, making it seem like they could not defend themselves, and so they gained the assistance of the mercenary Shinomori Katsumi, Takeda officer Sanada Yukimura, and man of Owari Oda Masaru. The numbers between the two forces were equal, and the battle was a bloody one, but eventually Toshi's force would win, with Takehiro crushing Yoshi's skull in with a hammer.

Upon Yoshi's death, Toshi finally felt as if he could really live his life again, having gotten the revenge he sought for so long. He and his men wandered the country for some time, before once again making a trip to Totomi, only to find it now under the rule of Amakusa Takehiro. After some discussion, it was agreed that the wanderer's would make the banner of the Amakusa the one they served under, though initially they sought peace.

Until the attack Sanada Yukimura made on Toshi's village, he was living as a barkeep, and his men and women were all farmers and merchants. The Takeda attack spurred them into action, granting the Amakusa a formidable general that could likely rival Honda Tadakatsu or even Azai Nagamasa in battle.

Musou: Water Manipulation. Toshi has the ability to manipulate any and all forms of water, including the moisture in the air. His primary use of his musou is increasing density of moisture in the air, or robbing a specific spot of all its hydration, though he has many more abilities he does not typically showcase.

The unconscious body of the Takeda general would be laid down and Takehiro's men would return to his side. It would be evident he wasn't in any life-threatening harm. His skin appeared rather dry from Toshi's musou, and he'd have some bruises from their scuffle, but otherwise, he would be in better condition than any would have expected.

"This is an issue I'd like to settle between your Lord and myself. If he refuses to comply, the actions of your army will be seen as a declaration of war."

As the bullets soared through the air, they would find themselves crashing against his dark shield, which took no damage whatsoever. He would proceed into the courtyard, sending dark tendrils out from his body. There would be so much they would cover the entire courtyard, ripping through the entirety of the forces on his level. In case this did not kill them, he would pull them inward and launch out his explosive whip-fists, rotating his body in a full circle to make each and every one of them explode. He would leave none of the ground troops alive, though his goal was to capture the Kitabatake sons.

"Come! Face me, if you dare!"

Toshi would give Brandt a stern look as the man held his cup out. He was going to pour him a drink, yes, but the man needed to learn some manners. Before he would notice, however, Takehiro shot Toshi a look himself, and the man sighed, pouring Brandt yet another drink.

"We've all done our fair share of killing, of that I can assure you." Takehiro nodded, downing his sake but pouring his own cup. "In fact, Toshi here," he gestured toward the barkeep. "He happens to be an ex-Bandit Chief. Actually, everyone in this village was in his group. It is made up entirely of ex-bandits, men and women who were reformed under my rule."

Probably the best people Takehiro had under his rule, as well, if he was to be completely honest. Toshi was his best friend, and the people here showed the greatest undying loyalty he'd ever seen.

"I became a Daimyo to protect them, and the people of this fief. I became their ruler because they desired it just as much as I did. And I intend to unify the country, of course."

Takehiro would charge into the fray, swinging his spear wildly around himself. Rotating his body in a circle, he would cut at the men's chests, before lowering his body and continuing the rotation to slice at their shins. He would continue to push the Yoritomo back and keep them on the defensive, despite the odds. He had experience as a soldier, the men he faced here were simple.
