At Toshi's old village, right on the border of Totomi and Shinano, were Takehiro and his right-hand man. The two were overseeing the fortifications of their borders to ensure they would be well-prepared in the event the Takeda decided to strike again. While Takehiro was almost certain they would not, this was a necessary step in calming the people under his banner, who lived in constant fear they would be under attack from the Takeda a second time.
"Toshi," Takehiro began, just a few modified siege-ramps lowered a large slab of stone just in front of the wooden walls. A pain shot through his chest, but he remained stoic and showed no signs of discomfort. "I trust you can oversee the rest of this. I must go." Toshi simply nodded, though he did take note of his lord's strange departure. Leaping down from the tower they watched from, Takehiro would head toward the side of the village where the fortifications had yet to begin, but there were a large number of guards on duty.
Sitting himself down in front of a pond, the Daimyo sighed, placing a hand to his chest. He was not long for this world, and the longer his Eastern campaign took, the more disheartened he became. His goal was to at least have the country split, with the Amakusa holding one half, before his passing.
"The Takeda... the Hojo... this will be a pain," he muttered, taking a sip of his sake before leaning back and tilting his hat forward to hide his face.

The lands of Totomi were some of most enjoyable Nobutoyo had ever come across in all his travels and he’d always took pleasure in passing through the region whenever the opportunity presented itself. In those days he was an aimless drifter searching for a purpose, but this time was different, he knew why he’d come to Totomi. In recent days Takeda Nobutoyo had done a bit of soul searching as to why he was so adamant about justice and it dawned upon him. The reason he was so dedicated was because he had unresolved issues with his childhood, but more specifically his father who had been wronged.
That man was supposed to be the heir to Takeda Shingen and Nobutoyo’s father’s father, but the sly man that Shingen was threw a proverbial wrench into the situation and he came out the heir. His father would be remembered as a man who didn’t hold a grudge for the slight, but that’s not the whole truth. In secret, behind the closed doors where only Nobutoyo’s eyes were allowed, he was very torn up about it. He felt betrayed by his older brother and he carried the shame of it to his grave. It was unforgivable in Nobutoyo’s eyes and although everyone else had forgotten, he hadn’t.
The memories of this troubled time came flooding back to the young Takeda warrior and he knew what had to be done. Justice had to be served and Takeda Shingen would need to pay for his past transgressions, but to do that would require assistance. Lord Shingen was a legendary strategist and accomplished commander of a caliber that few men could hope to achieve in numerous lifetimes and to take down such a man would require someone special. Nobutoyo knew of Amakusa’s leader Takehiro only through reputation & rumors, but knew the Daimyo to be an infamous warrior of great strength, strength that could compete with Takeda Shingen’s.
He discarded his usual clothing, the stuff he wore while representing someone of the Takeda, and instead wore a simple commoner’s attire that consisted of ill-fitting trousers and a long-sleeved top. He carried a simple katana on his waist, supported & held into place by a sash, but it wasn’t his trademark serrated katana. That weapon was too noticeable and he needed to fly under the radar, so to speak. Finishing off his attire were some simple sandals and a wide-brimmed hat atop his head to both keep the sun out of his eyes and to obscure his face from view.
He’d learned of where Takehiro was reported to be through various resources he’d acquired while traveling and headed for there at first light. It took him a number of days to reach the destination and when he arrived in the village he could see that construction & fortification was underway. His eyes scanned the people as he passed them, searching intently for the Daimyo that he’d come all the way to Totomi to see. He traveled through the village for several moments before at last his brown irises settled upon a figure next to a pond.
Nobutoyo knew this to be Takehiro and approached him from his blind-spot, but ensured to make plenty of noise with his movements so that there’d be no chance of his accidentally catching the man off guard if for some reason he happened to be lost in his own thoughts as he appeared to be. When he’d closed the distance between them to about 20 feet, he’d call out in a calm, pleasant, tone.
“Takehiro of Amakusa, you are a hard man to track down and I’ve come so very far to meet you. Allow me to introduce myself I am Takeda, Takeda Nobutoyo, nephew of Lord Takeda Shingen.”
He was straight to the point and didn’t even attempt to be coy with the Daimyo. He figured he wasn’t the type of person to have an abundance of patience for mysterious people, much less someone from the Takeda. There’d been some conflict between them as of late and everyone seemed to be rather on edge. Hell, he had to look like anyone other than a Takeda to even make it this far into Totomi and he was in a village that rested on the border. If things were this tense here, lord only knows what it’s like closer to where Takehiro has his base of operations.

Having been still for a long time, and drowning out the world around him, Takehiro was able to see the man coming if only for a capability he possessed that led to his recent victories. He watched the man approach, though not intentionally, nor did he see him as any sort of target. It was when the man spoke that Takehiro saw him as anything besides a commoner, and that introduction was one that could have gotten him killed were his audience anyone other than Takehiro himself.
"Well, Takeda Nobutoyo... you're not very far from home, but it seems you've ventured into unfriendly territory." Taking another swig of his sake, Takehiro sighed and set the cup down beside him. Aside from that, he made no motion. "I trust you're here for a good reason. If anyone else heard your introduction, your head would not long rest upon your shoulders, I can assure you." He did not mean to come off as rude with his statement, but it was only to be expected with the tension between the two forces. He wasn't about to greet anyone who introduced themselves as "Takeda" with open arms and a jug of sake.
Without drawing any attention to the two, Takehiro would wait for this Nobutoyo's response. He had a reason to be here, whatever it was, and Takehiro wasn't at all suspicious. If the man sought to take his life, he'd be dealt with in a matter of moments, and surely he knew that. So, rather than interrogate, it would be up to the man to say his piece.

It would appear as though Takehiro was infinitely more aware of his surroundings, and what transpired within them, than even Nobutoyo had theorized. The man’s response was anything but pleasant, but it was to be expected given the nature of the current relationship between Takeda and Amakusa. He couldn’t do anything to make it better, in fact, he might be making it worse very soon if all went to plan. The prospect of this and the “justice” it would bring to this world was something that brought a momentary smile to his face.
“If I could be perfectly honest with you Takehiro of Amakusa, I am seeking justice for a wrong perpetrated upon my father by his older brother, Takeda Shingen. While I don’t expect you to take up my cause, I’d be hard-pressed to think that you couldn’t see this is a beneficial situation for you and Amakusa.”
Nobutoyo stretched his arms wide and a faint yawn could barely be heard above the clamoring noise of the people working in the background. Takeda Nobutoyo glanced around for a moment as he waited for the Daimyo to respond to the words he’d just spoken. Seeing Lord Shingen weakened would be very helpful to Amakusa Takehiro and he highly doubted the man would be able to turn down what he was implying. Nobutoyo personally didn’t have a reservation about being used in this situation. He’d play the role of a pawn if it meant accomplishing his goals.

Takehiro's eyes cast themselves upon the man, though he preferred to make no contact. It seemed many within the ranks of the Takdeda held a disdain for them, and many had even left the Takeda to take arms with the Amakusa. Whatever it was Shingen had done to his retainers, clearly it was only working in Takehiro's favor. Before he could agree, however, he had to know more. Standing to his feet, the Daimyo beckoned for the man of Takeda to follow him. As if he had much of a choice in the matter.
"Before I can agree to anything, I need to know what the situation is and what can be offered to me. As you can understand, I cannot, and will not, provide troops to a Takeda officer I have never heard of, just to watch them fall in a trap."
Takehiro could typically tell when one was lying. He was, of course, one of the wisest in the land, and could easily read a person, so he wasn't distrusting of the Takeda man. Instead, he wanted details so that he may mull over ways this could prove fruitful for the Amakusa.

Takeda Nobutoyo knew that the Daimyo wouldn’t be able to resist his cryptic offerings and this was affirmed when Takehiro motioned for Nobutoyo to follow him. He personally had no inclination to do as the man wanted and could care less about his position or rank, but all the same he desired to not instigate a conflict with the very person he sought to win over. So he followed him, without protest, and listened to what he had to say. It was all fairly straightforward. Takehiro wanted to know what Nobutoyo was offering.
“What you get out of this deal is entirely up to you. I don’t care how you profit from it; I just desire to see Takeda Shingen suffer. If you want to go to such an extreme as seeing the man’s head on a pike, I have no qualms about it. My recent revelations had erased any nostalgia I once had for the man. So the better question is what do you want? You tell me what would assist you, as well as Amakusa as a whole, and I’ll begin working on it.”
Takeda Nobutoyo wasn’t powerful enough on his own to accomplish much besides causing strife within the ranks and most certainly he couldn’t take on Takeda Shingen, Yukimura, or even that damned ninja Sasuke, whom he’d ensured was well away from Totomi before he’d ever thought of crossing the border and meeting with Amakusa Takehiro. That man was crafty and extremely good at his job, so he had to take precautions to ensure that there wasn’t the possibility of him watching.
“Question, Amakusa Takehiro, how well are your borders secured? Takeda is known for its ninja corps, and that’s the last thing I need right now, an eavesdropping shinobi.”

What did he want? That was fairly simple: he wanted victory over the Takeda and to secure his Eastern expansion, and that would be made much easier with the assistance of a man of Takeda willing to assist him. So, the Daimyo would be straightforward.
"As of now, troop positions, pivotal locations, numbers, whatever you can provide to me within your rank. I will need the name of a high-ranking officer that is neither Yukimura nor Sasuke, and I will forge a note of his defection to the Uesugi, which I would ask you to spread throughout your army, rather than deliver it to your Daimyo. Should this be done, the strife that would result from it would make the Takeda weak, and my army would be able to control every key location in Shinano and Kai without much resistance."
It took a fairly small amount of thought, and it seemed, clearly, to be the best course of action. The Miki were already close to being wiped out, so he didn't need to worry too long about Takeda relations. If he could clear them out, the only true threat left in the East would be the Uesugi, save for Kotaro of the Fuuma ninja.
"Worry not, I have under my command a corp of ninja to rival even Fuuma Kotaro himself. No one will hear what you have to say unless you want them to." The Daimyo smiled calmly, then turned to face the Takeda man. "You do realize how much you are risking in doing this, correct?"

"I do what I do because justice must be served for my father, a man too weak to take it for himself. I will pay any price to achieve my goals."
Takeda Nobutoyo would stop walking with the Daimyo and freeze. He had heard all he needed to here and now there was work that had to be done, many things.
"I will acquire the name of an officer of high rank as soon as I can, however now I must return to Kofu as my absence may be noticed before too long. I don't suppose I'd have to explain where I was due to how often I travel, but all the same I'd rather avoid the question altogether."
Nobutoyo pulled the hat down lower and turned away to begin heading out of the village, back the way he came. It'd take him a while to return to the main Takeda camp and he really wasn't looking forward to making a trip he'd already done. Nobutoyo had seen all the sights, smelled all the smells, so there wasn't a whole lot of excitement to be had. He could barely be heard grumbling about it as he departed.
