Seeing the "doll" before her was disappointing. She had enjoyed his company last night and was hoping that she would get to spend a bit more time with him. For some reason, his flirty nature and unnaturally foreign hair intrigued her and made her heart flutter a bit.
It was something she hadn't experienced since before she was married and felt kind of sad to see it gone so quickly. She was strong though and didn't linger on the thought for more than a couple of minutes.
After she put her armor back on and put her long hair back up, Jina went out to the lobby-area. She waved to the innkeeper, smiling. "How are you this morning?" The man chuckled, "It's half way though the afternoon. Rough night?"
"No, I suppose I just slept very well." She turned away, smiling. The man called out to her as she walked off and told her that she had another couple of nights paid for. She shook her head, grinning widely. She was glad to have a roof over her head, but more than anything she hoped he would return.
Sadly, she expected he wouldn't.

"Lord Date, I'm Zhuo Jina. I was brought here to Japan by pirates who I first learned my skills from. I am more than happy to dedicate myself to your cause."
Jina bowed respectfully before the Big Boss turned away. She looked over at Noel, snickering. He had gotten in trouble and she had been invited to join the army. Typical. She smiled, something she couldn't help around him. "You okay?" She reached down and picked up the whip-like tree branch off of his lap.
"What could they possibly expect you to do with this?" She giggled. "Here." She handed him her old rapier, something she hadn't used since she had purchased her custom Chinese swords. "It hasn't been oiled for a couple of weeks, so it might have dulled. It will work, won't it?"

Jina bowed at the men. "I will meet you on the eastern edge of this town before the sun sets. Justice must come for the people here. These are my people."
She turned away and began to walk, she needed to head back to the camp and report the incident before she could take on this new mission. Plus, she was pretty hungry and wanted to avoid paying for food if possible. Since she had joined the Date, she had found little use for money other than for things to treat herself with.
When the sun had almost reached the horizon, Jina had returned to the town, eager to get started. Her officer listened intently and assigned this to her for the now. It wasn't officially a mission, but protection of these people was necessary and he trusted this to her. She was leaning up against a building in her uniform armor, watching the orange clouds roll by. The sun was cresting over the land. Where are they?

When Jina awoke in the morning, she stretched her arms out, fully extending them. A low grunt escaped as she woke her body. She was smiling, I slept so well.
It was then that she noticed Noel was propped up in the corner, breathing softly. His eyes were closed. Seeing how...gentle he looked put a smile on her face again. He was so kind to her last night and she was impressed by his restraint for lust.
Jina sat on the edge of the bed and oiled her weapons, making sure that they were clean and sharp. It was another hour before she noticed Noel beginning to stir...

Jina hurried towards where the screaming was coming from. She contemplated going back to the camp to inform her officer, but she figured she could survey the situation first and then decide if she needed backup.
Upon reaching the clearing, she noticed Haji, a man she had met on the beach with Katsu-roshi. He was kind, quiet and certainly someone who typically wouldn't be caught up in a situation like this. Haji seemed...well, like he cared a bit too much.
Why then was Haji here? Jina watched for a moment and listened to the men yelling, "You can't take what isn't yours!" "Yeah!" "You tell 'im!" "Don't push your luck, kid" said the guy wearing the pendant. It seemed that for whatever reason, Haji wanted what this man had.
The man reached toward his neck and grabbed ahold of the pendant, pulling it off of his neck. "You want it? Come get it!" The man yelled! It was then that Jina pulled an arrow from the quiver and shot the arrow straight through the palm of the man's extended hand!
"Hah-ha!"

[[Ooc: I'd love to quest it!]]
Jina was happy to see that the violence had settled. She wasn't particularly keen on hurting people, but she supposed it would be necessary in some cases. That's why she had joined the Date. She was tired of killing to support herself.
The Date had welcomed her into their faction for the small price of choosing a side. This seemed reasonable to Jina. The other two men were talking, something about how she wasn't needed. Internally, she grinned. These guys just didn't understand how effective she was back there with just her words. Fear my words, and my blades!
Maybe I should think up a catch phrase....she thought.
"Is there anything more that you gentlemen need? If not, I will continue my intended mission."

Shocked by her mounting success, Jina whirred around to see what was happening around her. Two of her comrades were being attacked, one was suffering minor injuries. Nanami was saving Shoji so Jina turned her attention instead to the remaining creatures.
Using some pretty fancy sword work, Jina was hoping to take the rest of them out. She twirled her rapier around her wrist, hoping to distract one of the creatures with the motion before striking it in the neck. She intended to impale it in a vital blood area, but wasn't clued in on the proper anatomical structure of the creatures.
After her expected success, she would strike out at the second creature and depending on how close it was, she would take the sword in her gloved hand, holding the sword horizontally with one hand on the tip and the other on the hilt, she intended to run the creature against the wall and decapitate it with the force of the push.

It was her and the other Date ambassadors to come onto good terms with this Imagawa faction. Huī trotted happily below her as they approached the camp. The army was said to be huge, beyond reason.
Jina and the others arrived at the supply depot and she dismounted. She didn't even think to check the state of her weapons, since the oncoming attack was unknown to her. She took a large swig of water and ate a small piece of bread that she had gotten back at the Date camp.
She wiped her mouth and fed Huī a bit, smiling as this was her first official Date mission.

Post by Zhuo Jina on Mar 13, 2014 10:44:42 GMT -7
Jina was excited when Lord Date announced that there would be an opportunity to be trained in the art of stealth. Jina was light on her feet, probably because she was lightweight but also because she often had to sneak up on livestock in order to catch them for slaughter when she was in China.
Most of her life, she had been preparing for this lifestyle even if she didn't know it. She was glad Lord Date had offered his men this opportunity because Jina felt that it could be more than beneficial to her. Honestly, it could save her life some day. She promptly volunteered for the training and her officer announced that the training would be ready late tonight and that she would receive more instruction then.
Jina arrived at the indicated castle at the time that her officer had told her, but upon arrival all she found was a note which was hanging on the trunk of a tree. It read: "Fifteen of Lord Date's men are patrolling the castle. Your objective is to get to the small chamber where Lord Date is sleeping and steal one of the precious items located there. Many are training tonight so take only one. If you harm any patrols, wake your lord, or do not follow instructions, you will fail the training. Good luck."
Jina was surprised that her officer had not met her there but paid little attention to it. Once she had her task, she commenced. Entrances would certainly be guarded so Jina decided to scale the wall using a small rope that she had brought. She hadn't been sure what the training would take, but she had equipped herself earlier in the day with rope, chord for tying, a small knife, padded leather shoes and all black attire.
After she climbed the wall about half way, she came to a window. Her fingers were aching from the stress so she peered inside to check if the room was clear, then she climbed inside. It was dark, there were no torches lit in the room. It appeared dusty, most of the furniture was covered. The room hadn't been used in quite a while, so when she saw footprints leading to the door, she knew someone had taken this path in front of her tonight.
Jina continued on, opening the door. It creaked slightly so she slid through with as little room as possible. The corridor that she had gone into was also unlit, but a light could be seen after a turn down the way. The light appeared stationary as if placed on the wall, so she moved toward it. When she came to the turn, she peeked around the corner, seeing no one still. She stood there for a moment, seeing if a guard would come into view. When none did, she proceeded forward. She was still on the middle level.
Jina figured that Lord Date would be sleeping in a well guarded area and was intent on finding where that was. She crept around the castle until she found the first guard. He was patrolling, walking in front of her in a hallway. She drew her small knife and faced the hilt outward. Light on her feet and silent because of the leather, Jina was able to come up behind the guard and walk with him almost, until he reached the end. At this point, he began to turn and Jina slid the opposite direction, remaining behind him for his entire turn. He had not seen her.
Jina climbed a set of stairs, getting to the top floor below the roof. She continued on and it wasn't long before she saw three more guards. If there was a guard at each of the three entrances, two on the roof and one in a lookout tower, that made ten of the fifteen that she knew the locations of. Another guard was likely on the floor below her and two below that. That meant that there were only two unknown guards, and if there was a large group like this, Lord Date must be very close. There was a door between where she stood and where the light from the guards reached.
Deciding to find Lord Date from the outside of the castle, rather than be found by the guards for sure, she entered the room quietly, unseen. From there, she went straight to the window. The room was also dusty, maybe the whole castle hadn't been used for a long while. She exited through the window and could see another to the right. She scaled the wall over to the window and looked inside.
Not surprisingly, there was Lord Date, asleep on the bed. She looked at the floor and saw three pairs of footprints. One led to the bed and two led to a small nightstand sitting next to the bed. On the nightstand, there were various trinkets made of gold and silver. Jina slid the window open silently and climbed inside. Landing softly, she walked over to the nightstand and grabbed a small golden bear.
She didn't hesitate and climbed back out the window before closing the rope in it and sliding to the ground. She tugged and when the rope didn't give, she decided to leave it. She ran back to the Date camp and proudly presented her officer with the trinket. She bowed and smiled. I did it.

Seeing that her Comrade was in trouble, Jina rushed to the aid of Constantine. She thrust her rapier towards the creatures head, hoping to impale and kill it with one strike.
If she was not successful, she would at least try and grab it to keep it from attacking him. If she was, she would turn to check if there were any crawlers left.
If not, Jina would attempt to kill a creature by spinning and slashing it through the neck, just enough so it would bleed out.
Most of the enemies were gone now, she was just hoping to get everyone though this without a major injury.

"Hey!" She sounded so cheery. Jina rarely came upon other women, and particularly ones with a pirate history. Jina herself had been taken hostage (and then accustomed to the life) by pirates and truly enjoyed the new kind of life they provided.
She was running slowly toward Nanami, the smell of fish flowing deep into her lungs. She was getting a little over excited and wound up tripping in the sand. She fell to her knee before she pulled herself up and continued running.
"Hey! It's so good to see you!"

Jina's recent induction into the Date not only gave her a boost of confidence, but also access to tons of training opportunities. She had spent the last couple of weeks training with her bow. Jina was quite the shot and eager to test it.
One of her comrades had lent her his bow since he would he in bed healing from injuries for at least a week or two. Jina hadnt purchased her own bow yet.
Walking out of the camp, she pulled the bow off of her back and held it in her hand. While testing the weight, she could hear that off in the distance, people were yelling. Had she not left the camp just a few minutes ago and had been walking quickly, she would not have been close enough to hear.
Who were the men, or women in the distance? Why were they so close to the Date camp? She was eager to find out.

Jina was wildly happy about her "success" at scaring away the thugs with her intimidating swords. Yeah. She was sure it was all due to her words.
Anyway, Jina sheathed her swords and then looked up, curious about the men standing across from her. They weren't Date but they did save this shopowners life and for that, they did have some credibility.
"Thank you for your assistance" she bowed. She still hadn't forgotten her childhood and knew that being respectful could get you far.

Jina was satisfied when she saw that the thugs had left. She felt vastly more confident and sure that she had sent them on their way.
"Well, I must have totally intimidated them" she said as she sheathed her swords. From there, she peered at those she was standing across from. She wasn't sure who the men were, except that they weren't Date.
They did save this man though, and that give them some credit.

Jina's twin blades had been sharpened on each exposed area, meaning that as the thugs attacked her, she promptly cut each of them on the hands, sliding the hooked end against their blades down to the knuckles. The hooked tip locked the blades in her swords steel before she flung them out of reach with a quick flip of the wrist.
Once the thugs were disarmed and bleeding, Jina once again pointed her blades at her enemies. "Leave now and face nothing more than the slit tendons you already have. Stay and force me to remove your organs from the inside of your body" Jina proclaimed. Her confidence was growing with each moment. Not only had the Date training improved her weapon skills, but also her emotional strength as well. Jina wondered if she had really been this strong all along.

Post by Zhuo Jina on Mar 10, 2014 10:26:31 GMT -7
Recently, Jina had been practicing with a bow at her new training camp in the Oshu territory. Over the last couple weeks, she had spent countless hours teaching herself proper breathing, then proper tension and finally, aim.
Jina knew that being a ranged warrior with melee skills was important to her future as a Date. She knew that as the war progressed, she would have to fight and fight well. She was training with the bow since her skills with the sword had become a forced to be reckoned with. Jina knew that if she couldn't fire an arrow, she may not survive even the first battle.
When the marksmen had arrived under orders of the Big Boss, Jina felt a sense of pride in her accomplishments over the last few weeks. She would be able to prove herself once again in the eyes of Lord Date and was excited to show off her new skills.
"The target is 100 yards away. You are expected to hit the target in the head-region at least 15 times out of 20. We will move onto the second task after successful completion of the first."
The marksmen who had been assigned to her unit was instructing them to hit a target at that range with just 20 arrows at 75% accuracy. Jina realized how glad she was that she had been training the last few weeks, since the task seemed something that would be tough for even her.
After a couple of other archers had finished their task, some successfully and some not, it was her turn. Jina drew her bow, aimed and let fly her first arrow. She missed. Shit. Luckily, her second, third and forth arrows hit, even if barely. Her fifth arrow hit the shoulder of the target, counting as a miss. Six through twelve hit, so she was at 10 of 15 needed with only two misses. Jina missed her thirteenth arrow, scowling at how close she had been, but still the arrow whirred by the target. Fourteen and fifteen hit, with sixteen a miss. She was able to successfully hit the target perfectly on seventeen, and the last three also hit. Jina had hit her target 17 times out of 20, making her first task a success.
Internally, Jina cheered. There were still more archers to make the task, and she watched as some successful came to stand with her, while others failed miserably. It was obvious who was trained, or at least practiced in marksmanship.
"Your next task is to hit a moving target in the leg region. You will be given ten arrows and will be expected to hit eight times. This is your final task for the day."
Jina was a little surprised at her next task. It appeared just as simple as the one before. While she had been practicing on mostly stationary targets, her aim had become solid while training and had hit a moving target with fairly good accuracy.
When it was her turn to step up, Jina's first five arrows struck true, impaling the target in the legs. Happy and a little over-confident, Jina missed her sixth arrow. Not intending to miss another, she successfully hit the last four arrows with one lodged in the foot region of the target.
Once again, Jina trotted over to the successful-archer area and waited to be rewarded. As more of her comrades failed, Jina became more and more glad of her diligence in the last couple weeks before the marksmen had showed up. She was truly proving herself to the Big Boss.

Jina was happy to be in the Oshu territory, finally a member of one of the factions that had a hand in this war. While the Date themselves weren't actually a fighting party, they would take part in the battles. Jina had some new armor and a fashionable gold and blue crest on her clothing, curtesy of the Date. She was strolling the streets just the day after her recruitment when she happened upon some yelling.
This seemingly violent interaction between a shopkeeper and some mercenaries was something Jina could understand. The people she had been employed by were never kind, but all too often she had taken to violence to ensure her pay. She looked upon the mercenaries with pity, but it wasn't long before she realized what her new standing meant. Being a Date meant protecting the innocent people of their territory. She was now a woman of honor, and she had to uphold that.
"Excuse me," she began, "please put down your swords and do not proceed with your acts of violence." Jina was feeling some kind of honor building in her chest as she spoke. For whatever reason, this path felt right to her. She wasn't a mercenary, she was a protector.
"And, you should do as I say before you face the punishment from a Date enforcer." It was then that Jina drew her twin hook swords, one embellished with a Light Pendant and one with a Demon Medallion. She hoped that the ever-sharp edges of her swords would intimidate the mercenaries into laying down their arms.

Jina was shocked when she saw the tower of a man approach her home via the beach. She had been keeping a watch since the two had come into view, remembering the pirate woman from a castle she had recently entered. The man, on the other hand, was more than a sight.
His body towered above the horizon, even from this distance. While he seemed more beast than man, Jina could sense his humanity. Well, sense as in, he hadn't killed the pirate...yet.
The smell of fish wafted through the air, almost smacking Jina in the nose. She had been feasting on rice for quite a while now, having just earned the full "rights" to her horse Huī (a man had almost rented-to-buy this horse to her, while she was forced to give up the entirety of her non-food pay to the man until she completed some task).
She hadn't had meat in...well, it seemed like months. Jina had never learned to fish, but had instead raised livestock as a child with her mother. This being a port/pirate cove, there wasn't a severe abundance of hogs and chickens to be found.
Jina's stomach grumbled slightly as she patted Huī on the neck. She wasn't sure what to do from here, but she figured if there was food to be eaten, she might as well try and worm her way into some.
As she approached the beach, leaving Huī behind, she called out, the only thing she could think to say,
"Nanami?!"

Jina's face turned bright red. The guy everyone referred to as the Big Boss was talking to her? Is he speaking to me? She wasn't used to being called out in public, especially at a level like this. Jina blinked a couple of times before she was even able to process how seemingly special she felt.
"I...uh, Noel and I have only met before. I...I'm not a huge fan of violence, but I am willing to dedicate my heart to a cause if I must, sir."
Jina's eyes continued to be wide, she was hoping to be as respectful as possible in the presence of this man. She was hoping to join the Date if the recruitment process had gone well.

Realizing the danger that had been thrust upon the group, Jina was able to avoid being headbutted by the small creatures flying out of some black orbs. She was at the ready with her sword and attempted to swing and slice through a few of them at once. They were quick, but she was hoping that a properly placed strike would slice or stab through multiple of them.
Jina's rapier struck out at three of the crawlers that were attacking the others she had come in with.
"Watch out!"

Jina grinned, happy to see Kat again. She was fairly certain that Kat was still in disguise, her voice at an ambiguous tone. She had lost her cool a moment ago and had let slip her nickname.
"Put them in their place, huh?"
Jina sheathed her sword and faced the other two, smiling. "Didn't mean to hurt him too bad, oh well." Jina kicked the body slightly and grinned widely. Katsumi made Jina feel so comfortable.
