Ryunosuke didn't really look afraid when he was aimed upon with the rifle, but with the man's words it was evident that he was not the cause of the corpses all around the castle. As the person lowered his rifle, he did the same with his pistol with the reply, "I'd rather not like being killed without a reason."
As the rifleman followed the others deeper into the castle, he followed suit, but as his shorter legs can't keep up with their pace, he naturally ran towards them.
"Damn, it is hard to keep pace with you if you continue with that speed," Ryunosuke said. But he couldn't just ignore the corpses around the castle. So he asked, "May I ask you, is there someone guarding this castle and there were too many bodies lying around it?"

As he traveled southward towards the island that contained the Satsuma Prefecture, Ryunosuke wondered about the extent of treasure there. And he also wondered how many sought that treasure and failed to do so. It was an ancient tale, but with no tale of someone who went to that castle and confirming the treasure, or even came back safely, Ryunosuke wondered how hard should that be. He was not afraid of things supernatural, but in this case, there should be someone or something guarding that treasure.
After crossing through swamps and swatting out insects on his path, he had a glimpse of the castle in question: Numa Castle. As he crossed the swamps surrounding that castle, he was alarmed by the stench of rotting bodies. Looking all around him, he saw some rotting corpses and skeletons all around the swamp.
"Oh shoot, maybe I ran into an unfriendly neighborhood," Ryunosuke muttered as he continued to crossed the swamp, avoiding the rotting bodies and the skeletons as a deep respect for the dead.
After crossing the corpse-strewn swamp, he finally reached the entrance of the castle. Loading his pistol, he entered the castle, ready for anything. As he entered, he saw a number of silhouettes of humans near the entrance. They didn't look hostile, and so Ryunosuke relaxed and waved out his hand at them.
"Hey, how are you guys doing?" He waved his hand happily until he saw the whole picture. Apparently one aimed his rifle at the other three people, and that infuriated him. In turn, he aimed his pistol at the rifleman, saying, "May you just lower your rifle? I daresay you were the cause of the rotting stench of the corpses all around this castle."

"Now damn. Just damn it. Why are you guys that horrible in shooting?"
Ryunosuke stomped his feet in frustration as he said those words while walking with another person, a member of the local militia. He and the other local militia of Totomi were called for a special training in archery. That, of course, infuriated Ryunosuke, who had just received a special rest from the leader of his unit for a successful patrol. Now, as it was a general call, he should also attend, effectively cancelling his rest.
The drillmaster for the day was a new one, a very skilled marksman who just came to Totomi to train them, and, presumably, to get some profit off it. Ryunosuke did not listen much to the instructions of the marksman, still harboring resentment as he did not enjoy his leave. That kind of attitude from a boyish person infuriated the marksman, who said at the end of his instruction in an angry tone, "I hope you truly understand the basics of aiming, and not pretending to understand because they are angry at something," before walking out in a bad mood.
The exercise provided by the instructor came in two parts. The first part is shooting a training dummy from 100 yards away. Ryunosuke put on a confident smile, having done the same with a gun. "This should be easy," he thought, as he stepped forward to shoot. But the first shot he made was not only off-course, but it also hit the training dummy of another person. At the worst, all of the others shot perfectly at the head of the training dummies. The instructor shot a blank arrow on only one rear as a penalty, and only one was the butt of jokes at that time, and it was Ryunosuke. Only then did he remember the instructions that he have heeded while at Shinano.
Ryunosuke exhaled as he aimed again his bow at the target. As he was aiming, he took notice of his environment. The wind was blowing softly and continuously to his left, and the weather is not much humid. As he took notice of these conditions, the arm that was holding the bow was swinging to the right. He then released the arrow, which sped towards the training dummy and hitting its head, where the right eye should be. He then loaded another arrow, and then a small arm swing, and release. The arrow hit the temple of his training dummy. Load next arrow, arm swing, then shoot. The arrow flew towards the nose bridge of the dummy. The end result is that all 19 remaining arrows hit their mark.
He did not lose his focus from the first part when the second part started. It consisted of shooting 10 people at their legs, while they are in combat. He again took notice of the weather. The wind was now flowing northwest, and the weather is not humid. Ryunosuke just swung his bow slightly to the right as he released the arrow. The arrow found itself hitting the right upper leg of the target, the person falling down as he tried to remove the arrow from his thigh. Load arrow, arm swing, shoot. The arrow flew towards the left leg of another soldier, felling him down. All of his 10 arrows found its way to their targets; 9 of them were a hit on the legs. One of the arrows barely missed the leg of the seventh fighter, crushing his private part. Ryunosuke apologized to the one he hit on the groin before he left, an accomplished man in archery.

As the person introduced himself, Ryunosuke took the name in mind. Maybe he would meet the person again after some time. He then bowed in response and said, "Nice to meet you, Saito Hiroshi-san."
He then packed his things in order, but keeping the pistol in his free hand and the pistol's ammunition slung on his shoulder. He then said, "When you visit Totomi, you could find me running a smithy in the marketplace. I mostly craft farm implements in my shop, but I also craft weapons for myself in my free time." Indeed, his ammunition was finely suited to his ability, and the pistol he was holding was maintained regularly and was in its excellent condition before the firing miscalculation.
He continued, "I was also a part of the militia there. But I could be asked as a companion whenever anyone needs help, so long as the person has good intentions."

Ryunosuke smiled. "A good shot at 100 yards and you say that there's much to improve. I'm sure you'll end up as a legendary marksman in the annals of history soon enough." Though he was adamant to take that title for himself, it doesn't matter for him if another person could do it as long as he or she proved that he or she was worthy of it.
When the man made a comment about his gun being seen at some vendors, he said, "Yes, since that shipwreck in the island of Tanegashima these guns started being manufactured. Not because of their accuracy in general, but because everybody can use and properly aim it. The projectile is not much affected by the wind, and had so much power it could break through armor in a good range. Its disadvantages is that it is expensive to produce, it lasts shorter than most bows, it has a short range and sometimes an unpredictable trajectory, and it is sometimes unsafe to use. Guns are good, but there are a lot of battles where bows are better."
As he watched the person deal the final blow at the deer, Ryunosuke wanted to know more about the person. The person was a good marksman, and being in companionship with him will make him learn more about making accurate shots. And he seemed to be a good person, one who he can share his sentiments with. He introduced himself, "I am Ichimura Ryunosuke, a ronin residing in Totomi for some time. And you are...?"

Ryunosuke checked his pistol if there are fractures in its barrel. That kind of explosion due to too much gunpowder might have been dangerous both to the gun and the user, and more so when the barrel became cracked due to that much gunpowder. If a gun with a fractured barrel is fired, the gun might disintegrate in an explosion, putting the life of its owner at risk.
After the check, it seemed that the barrel was still intact and in one piece, but Ryunosuke was not yet sure about his own check. The barrel had not yet cleaned fully so it is hard to conclude tht the pistol is still in firing condition. "That's it for a day" he thought, and stood up from the ground that he was sitting on. He walked towards the target when...
A figure bolted from the trees around the clearing. Seeing the figure, he started to pour gunpowder into the barrel of his pistol. As soon as he finished pouring gunpowder, he then took another glance towards the figure. It was a running sika deer, and it was somewhat plump. As it was rare to find a deer that was that plump, he found himself pressing a piece of wadding into the barrel. This was a rare chance that he did not want to spoil. But, from the corner of his eye, he saw a person aiming his bow at the running deer. A quick twang from the bowstring, and the arrow was set off on its way to the thigh of the rear leg of the deer, taking it down. The person seemed to be gleeful as he pranced to his game; he must have been very hungry. He just smiled as he watched the person. But the person seemed wary of his existence as he apologized to him for "interrupting" him.
Ryunosuke just replied, "You did not interrupt me, in fact, I am entertained watching your hunting. A good shot, my poor artillery skill could not compare with that."

Ryunosuke was pondering while he poured gunpowder into the barrel of his pistol. It had been a year since he left the service of the Takeda, and his heart was still sore from remembering the death of his parents in a gunpowder explosion. Pondering this culprit of many deaths in the firearms smithy he used freely, it made him guilty.
"Did this gunpowder kill its creators on the process?" he thought. But then, this gunpowder flask, as well as the bag of balls and the pistol he was holding right now, were the only reminders of his former life. Almost all of it, if not burnt to powder by the explosion, he himself had burned with the bridge back to his former life as Murai Ryunosuke.
He then set his sight towards a make-shift target with a lot of impact damage. He had been using that target for months to practice his accuracy in using the pistol. He then loaded a crumpled piece of paper into the muzzle of the pistol, then a small metal ball, and then another piece of crumpled paper. With the priming charge ready and the match engaged he aimed towards the target, and pulled the trigger. Sparks flew from the flash pan of the weapon, and the smoke flew to the direction of Ryunosuke's face, but it did not matter. He was as much used to the weapon as when he had killed five soldiers of the Takeda.
The match was all burnt out but Ryunosuke was still aiming at that target. But it took a few seconds before the pistol responded, and this with a loud report. Ryunosuke had felt a recoil that he did not expect to feel from firing that same pistol, and, had he not firmly planted his feet to the ground, he would tumbled over. But the result was that the bullet hit the center of the target, and this is a first in 150 yards.
Ryunosuke, seeing the result, just scratched the back of his head, and said, "Looks like I had poured too much gunpowder."

Name: Ichimura Ryunosuke Faction: Amakusa Age: 17 Gender: Male Height: 4' 8" Weight: 75 lbs. Eye Color: Brown Hair Color: Brown, dyed rust due to iron works Appearance:Ryunosuke is a very diminutive man despite his age, and his body features are not very much muscular, which, combined with his face, makes him look like 7 years younger than his true age. His short hair, stained rust by his hobby as a blacksmith, is not always neatly tied, leaving the front disheveled while the back is tied. There are two scars on his body from surviving a battle not directly involving him (explained in history): a slash wound on his left hand and a shot wound just near his right elbow. Personality:Ryunosuke is almost always a cheerful person, he always loved to talk with his costumers and with persons he contacted with in everyday life. He loved to share with others his passion as a blacksmith and fighter, and he was always engaging in a hearty discussion about these kind of things. But he always stayed in his smithy, actively finding out ways to improve his work on weapons and implements. He is always reliable in times of battle, actively seeking out good targets for his tanegashima, and is aware of his surroundings. He can be considered as a good scout, studying the terrain and finding out which weapon is suitable for that kind of environment. He can be a very loyal supporter of his lord only if his lord does not betray him for his own interests. His heart was still sore from his assumed betrayal of the Takeda of his family, and as much as possible, he does not want that wound to be opened again. History:The ronin known as Ichimura Ryunosuke was born as Murai Ryunosuke of blacksmith parents in Shinano, where his parents originally served as artisans under the Takeda clan. As the only son, Ryunosuke was expected to follow his parents' trade, and, as such, also served the Takeda as a blacksmith at the age of 14. But the increasing chaos in the lands pressed him to become a warrior to defend himself, and, after watching the soldiers train and practice their skills, he became an adept with the bow and the sword at the age of 15. But little did he know that his forte might have been in another aspect of warfare. Going back to Shinano from acquiring new ore, he was almost caught in the midst of battle between two opposing factions. The battle was a one-sided win for one faction, although the other faction was very skillful in fighting as Ryunosuke suffered a hand injury while fighting a soldier from that faction. He saw that the victors relied on a weapon he had not seen before: something that catapults small hard stones from its barrel at high speeds with a deafening sound. Ryunosuke had managed to smuggle one of these arms on his way back, but not without suffering a wound in return. Upon returning to Shinano, he found out that the Takeda had assigned his parents into the task of manufacturing tanegashima for the army. Mistaking the name first for the island, he then found out that the word tanegashima was the term used for the weapon he had smuggled from the war. He and his family then devoted themselves to the creation of this weapon, and had already turned out 100 tanegashima when an unfortunate incident happened: a gunpowder explosion killed both of his parents and some of the workers in their smithy. The tanegashima that their family had produced, which came from their own purse, were taken by the soldiers of the Takeda without compensation for the dead workers, and even without payment for the materials and the amount of work that was put into each one. Disgruntled about the callous behavior of his liege, he was about to leave the service of the Takeda when he was halted by soldiers of the Takeda, telling him that he will stay in his post until he dies. He was then holding the only tanegashima left to his departed family: an old pistol that was made the model for the manufacture of other guns. No one, even Ryunosuke, knew what happened afterward, all he left as a legacy to the Takeda was 5 soldiers dead, with a note attached to one dead body: "One should not expect to serve a lord that does not care for his subjects." Being the subject of a manhunt of the Takeda, he fled from his hometown, always on the run from soldiers and bounty hunters, until he found a safe haven in Totomi. There he took on a new name: Ichimura Ryunosuke, and took on much work in a local smithy until his hair turned red due to rust. When his locale were threatened to be invaded, he fought against the besiegers with a lot of passion, to protect his new home from those who seek its ruin. | Primary | Sasori Teppo Ishiyumi (Steel, Gunpowder): *UPGRADED THRICE* Two-hand. This peculiar weapon looks like a scorpion baring its claws towards its enemy, and had its large tail pointing away from the claws, ready to strike anytime. The weapon could be wielded as a large bidentate spear with a long spear head at its rear. But the true beauty of this weapon is that it could be used as a very powerful gunpowder-based weapon that accepts ordinary arrows, and could make them behead a soldier from short distances, and powerful enough to travel hundreds of yards and still hit the mark. It seems to not require the long period of reloading that typical gunpowder-based weapons would. Requires 20 Str, 25 Dex, and Marksmanship C to wield. +30 Str, +3 Dex when firing arrows, +29 Str when when striking with the scorpion. Power: Can pierce through any material with ease. Can be deactivated, but it can't be reactivated for the rest of the thread.
