Post by Ichimura Ryunosuke on Feb 12, 2014 10:28:14 GMT -7
Name: Ichimura Ryunosuke
Faction: Amakusa
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Height: 4' 8"
Weight: 75 lbs.
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Brown, dyed rust due to iron works
Appearance:
Ryunosuke is a very diminutive man despite his age, and his body features are not very much muscular, which, combined with his face, makes him look like 7 years younger than his true age. His short hair, stained rust by his hobby as a blacksmith, is not always neatly tied, leaving the front disheveled while the back is tied. There are two scars on his body from surviving a battle not directly involving him (explained in history): a slash wound on his left hand and a shot wound just near his right elbow.
Personality:
Ryunosuke is almost always a cheerful person, he always loved to talk with his costumers and with persons he contacted with in everyday life. He loved to share with others his passion as a blacksmith and fighter, and he was always engaging in a hearty discussion about these kind of things. But he always stayed in his smithy, actively finding out ways to improve his work on weapons and implements.
He is always reliable in times of battle, actively seeking out good targets for his tanegashima, and is aware of his surroundings. He can be considered as a good scout, studying the terrain and finding out which weapon is suitable for that kind of environment. He can be a very loyal supporter of his lord only if his lord does not betray him for his own interests. His heart was still sore from his assumed betrayal of the Takeda of his family, and as much as possible, he does not want that wound to be opened again.
History:
The ronin known as Ichimura Ryunosuke was born as Murai Ryunosuke of blacksmith parents in Shinano, where his parents originally served as artisans under the Takeda clan. As the only son, Ryunosuke was expected to follow his parents' trade, and, as such, also served the Takeda as a blacksmith at the age of 14. But the increasing chaos in the lands pressed him to become a warrior to defend himself, and, after watching the soldiers train and practice their skills, he became an adept with the bow and the sword at the age of 15. But little did he know that his forte might have been in another aspect of warfare.
Going back to Shinano from acquiring new ore, he was almost caught in the midst of battle between two opposing factions. The battle was a one-sided win for one faction, although the other faction was very skillful in fighting as Ryunosuke suffered a hand injury while fighting a soldier from that faction. He saw that the victors relied on a weapon he had not seen before: something that catapults small hard stones from its barrel at high speeds with a deafening sound. Ryunosuke had managed to smuggle one of these arms on his way back, but not without suffering a wound in return.
Upon returning to Shinano, he found out that the Takeda had assigned his parents into the task of manufacturing tanegashima for the army. Mistaking the name first for the island, he then found out that the word tanegashima was the term used for the weapon he had smuggled from the war. He and his family then devoted themselves to the creation of this weapon, and had already turned out 100 tanegashima when an unfortunate incident happened: a gunpowder explosion killed both of his parents and some of the workers in their smithy. The tanegashima that their family had produced, which came from their own purse, were taken by the soldiers of the Takeda without compensation for the dead workers, and even without payment for the materials and the amount of work that was put into each one.
Disgruntled about the callous behavior of his liege, he was about to leave the service of the Takeda when he was halted by soldiers of the Takeda, telling him that he will stay in his post until he dies. He was then holding the only tanegashima left to his departed family: an old pistol that was made the model for the manufacture of other guns. No one, even Ryunosuke, knew what happened afterward, all he left as a legacy to the Takeda was 5 soldiers dead, with a note attached to one dead body: "One should not expect to serve a lord that does not care for his subjects."
Being the subject of a manhunt of the Takeda, he fled from his hometown, always on the run from soldiers and bounty hunters, until he found a safe haven in Totomi. There he took on a new name: Ichimura Ryunosuke, and took on much work in a local smithy until his hair turned red due to rust. When his locale were threatened to be invaded, he fought against the besiegers with a lot of passion, to protect his new home from those who seek its ruin.

Miscellaneous Stat Boosts:
Slot | Item(s) |
Weapons | |
Primary | Sasori Teppo Ishiyumi (Steel, Gunpowder): *UPGRADED THRICE* Two-hand. This peculiar weapon looks like a scorpion baring its claws towards its enemy, and had its large tail pointing away from the claws, ready to strike anytime. The weapon could be wielded as a large bidentate spear with a long spear head at its rear. But the true beauty of this weapon is that it could be used as a very powerful gunpowder-based weapon that accepts ordinary arrows, and could make them behead a soldier from short distances, and powerful enough to travel hundreds of yards and still hit the mark. It seems to not require the long period of reloading that typical gunpowder-based weapons would. Requires 20 Str, 25 Dex, and Marksmanship C to wield. +30 Str, +3 Dex when firing arrows, +29 Str when when striking with the scorpion. Power: Can pierce through any material with ease. Power: This power can be activated: when the user uses this weapon for attacks, it creates explosions upon impact, but the user takes 1/3 damage against his current Con. Can be deactivated, but it can't be reactivated for the rest of the thread. |

Unifies with other Totomi Justicar items to complete the set. +10 Dex, +1 Con Power: The wearer's vision is enhanced, improving their aim.
