When The Day Met The Night (Tak/Open)

I stood there in the desert of Gassantoda, waiting for Takehiro. I had sent him a message telling him to meet me here at a specific time. The sun was beating down on me, and the heat was a little much, but there was a reason I picked this place. I had arrived a little early, but it gave me some time to think on things.

I wanted to test my abilities against Takehiro. My weapons were sheathed at my side, and I didn't plan on using them. Instead, I intended for this to be a battle of spirit, utilizing the very abilities we had attained against one another and only that. I had picked this desert because it was far from any village or settlement that we could possibly harm. There was always the chance that someone could pass by. However, it was a minimal risk. Out here, we could utilize every bit of energy we had and did not have to hold ourselves back. I had been practicing my Musou, I wondered if Takehiro's had advanced at all as well.

[Amakusa Takehiro]

The fact that Haji requested to meet so far from Totomi was a little bit of a pain in the ass, but he figured the fief would be fine with Takehiro leaving for a couple of days. After all, it was left in the capable hands of his family and recruits, and the Totomi militia. Worried as he might have been, he also realized that not a lot of bad could befall his territory. And, he was certain every Daimyo in the neighboring fiefs would be too terrified to call upon the rage of the Demon of Totomi, a man capable of leveling fleets with his hands.

"Well, Haji! Not-so-long time, kind-of-frequent-see," he chirped, dismounting the demon chariot he used to ride all the way out here. His glaive was with him, but he would have almost immediately thrust the blade into the sand. As he understood, Haji wanted to train, but not with weapons. "So remind me exactly what you're lookin' for, half the country away from my fief?" As inquisitive as it sounded, Takehiro let out a light-hearted laugh.

[Morei Haji]

I placed my hands together, bowing in respect. "Ahh, Takehiro! You've arrived! So I hear you're a Daimyo now, that's pretty crazy. Should I call you Amakusa-sama now?" I grinned as I stood back up straight. It was strange being on such good terms with a Lord like this, but I saw no reason for us to put our friendship aside. Takehiro wasn't the type to demand respect through his name, it was a person's actions that he paid attention to.

"I understand that you too have awakened a great power within you. I'd like for the chance to test my spiritual abilities against your own."

Light versus Dark. The day against the night. I was curious how it would play out, or even where I stood against Takehiro's abilities. My abilities at Numa were subpar compared to his, I wondered if I would prove inadequate in a spiritual battle as well.

[Amakusa Takehiro]

"Of course, they call me the Demon of Totomi, those who have tried to take my land." He let out a loud chuckle, going up to pat his friend on the shoulder. "The day I demand you use an honorific on my name is the day I die of being a hard-ass." In other words, no.

The Demon would walk a good deal away from Haji, listening to what he had to say rather closely. It was obvious from a while ago that the two both awakened a power within them that seemed otherworldly, of course, but he wasn't entirely expecting Haji to want to go mano-a-mano with it. It was admirable, however, and certainly a good learning experience for them both.

"Very well," he chirped, turning to face his comrade. "Weapons aside, spirit versus spirit?" He would nod, arms extending and a wave of dark energy fluttering around him like a whirlpool. "Your move, kid."

[Morei Haji]

The Demon of Totomi, huh? While Takehiro could look the part, he had the complete opposite demeanor of a demon. He was one of the nicest guys that I knew. That said, he was the most formidable guy in all of Japan in my eyes. A weapon fight would floor me, but a spiritual one... maybe I had a chance.

"That is a correct. It would be an honor to face you, Takehiro."

I bowed my head once more, looking up in mild surprise as I saw the control that he already over his Musou. In response, I would channel my own energy, creating a whirlwind of light energy around myself. I gave Takehiro a grin before shooting my hand up into the air. The light energy around me seeped into the ground, traveling towards Takehiro quickly. Upon reaching him, it would shoot into a pillar of light energy, firing skywards. Whether he dodged or not, I was channeling energy into my hand, and I would fire a blast of light at him to follow up.

My eyes would stay focused on him, seeing how he would react to my assault.

[Sanada Yukimura]

Off in the distance, on top of a nearby sand dune, a mysterious figure dressed in a black cloak with the hood up, hiding not only the figure's face from view, but also the clothing worn underneath, a red open haori and white hakama with flame designs on the front, black armor on top, red tabi, black waraji, and a red headband tied around the head underneath a black helmet, could be seen on a demon chariot, before the figure disappeared from view.

Making his way down the dune, his demon horse galloping through the sand with ease, while others would be sweating buckets and boiling in the desert, Yukimura on the other hand, was quite comfortable here. In fact, he quite enjoyed it. With his spear on his back, Yukimura would hop off his demon chariot after spotting two figures in the distance, and upon reaching them, they would turn out to be...

"Haji-san? Takehiro-sa-"

Yukimura would begin to say, only to be cut off as a pillar of light erupted from the sand followed by a blast of light fired from Haji at Takehiro. Well that was... unexpected.

[Amakusa Takehiro]

Takehiro eyed the light energy Haji shot through the ground, and as the pillar made its way toward him it would find itself blocked and possibly shattered by a shield that appeared around himself. He would redirect Haji's energy by encasing it in his own, shooting it skyward and away from himself, while he pulled his arm back, coating it in darkness. His arm would shoot forward, and a tendril launched itself out at Haji's shoulder with a good deal of strength, right through his ball of light.

Immediately after his attack, Takehiro would hear another familiar voice, and a smile formed on his lips. "Ah, Yukimura! Just in time for the fun!"

[Morei Haji]

My eyes widened as Takehiro's darkness tendril shot out. Holy crap, was he good at focusing his Musou into a deadly attack with the greatest of ease. I would quickly roll to the side, narrowly avoiding his tendril. At the same time, I would channel my energy into my right hand, and as my roll finished, a lance made of pure energy would be in my hand. I would throw it straight for Takehiro, that mass of light shooting straight across the desert sands swiftly.

Nearby, I could see Yukimura, and I was surprised to see him way out here. "Yukimura-san? Is that you?" I wondered if he'd merely watch, or want to join in. What was he doing in the desert randomly?

[Sanada Yukimura]

It seemed like Yukimura wasn't the only one that had power over an element, both Takehiro and Haji could manipulate darkness and light respectively. Flipping his hood off, revealing that he had his helmet on, he would watch with interest Takehiro counter Haji's light attack and follow up with one of his own. Impressive.

"Fun? And yes Haji-san, it is me. I was out here training with my fire ability, but I wasn't expecting to see the both of you out here. Don't mind me, I'll just be watching for now."

And stepping back, pulling his black cloak closer to him, closing it up, he would watch from the sidelines, curious as to just what the both of them could do with their abilities respectively.

[Amakusa Takehiro]

Takehiro's hands would come up in defense as Haji shot out the lance, coating them in darkness. They would redirect the lance's trajectory as it shot by, Takehiro swatting it to the side to avoid getting hit himself. Unintentionally, he ended up throwing that spear of light right for Yukimura!

"Whoops! Sorry 'bout that!"

A laugh would follow his statement, before he shot both of his fists forward in hooks, and a dome of dark energy would surround Haji. Clenching his fist, Takehiro would make that dome crash down on him and form a sphere in midair with the boy inside. That sphere would be slammed into the ground, before being released. While he wasn't trying to outright hurt Haji, he wanted to see what the boy was capable of, and you couldn't truly test that with pokes and prods.

[Morei Haji]

"Ahh, Yukimura-san, oh boy..."

I would react a little too calmly about the fact that my light lance had strayed entirely off target and was now aiming towards our spectator. Before I could attempt to redirect it mid-flight, Takehiro's darkness was around me, and all of the light from the world just seemed to disappear.

Damn it all. He had me trapped in some kind of sphere of darkness... I had to react quickly, because I was a sitting duck otherwise. I would shoot my hands out to either side of me, shouting as I formed my own sphere of light energy around myself, pushing outwards on Takehiro's. My doppleganger appeared behind me, mimicking my movements and strengthening my energy.

If we successfully burst out of that, and the daylight came to greet us once more, we would instantly be on the move. I dashed to the side, coming at Takehiro from an angle, while my doppleganger would fly upwards, with his own wings made of light energy. He brought his hands behind him, starting to speak loudly. "KAAAA... MEEEEE... HAAAA... MEEEEE...."

While he was busy channeling energy, I formed a tomahawk made of pure light and threw it at Takehiro, following up with another light lance from my other hand. Hopefully this would distract Takehiro while--

"HAAAAAA!!!!" The doppleganger threw his hands forward, and a giant blast of light energy would shoot at Takehiro from the sky. A two way attack.

[Amakusa Takehiro]

Surprised, Takehiro's sphere of darkness would burst from Haji's own, and he and his doppelganger would charge. The man wouldn't even react to Haji's doppelganger doing weird shit, his own just shooting out and tackling it to the floor and punching it in the face a few times.

The light tomahawk would be shattered in mid-air by a crushing orb of darkness, and the light would be thrown off-course by a wave of energy, sending the light to impale Haji's own doppelganger. Haji would then find his feet bound by dark shackles, and a dark hammer would fall on top of his head from the sky!

[Sanada Yukimura]

Without batting an eye, Yukimura would form twin fire katanas in both hands and whipping his cloak open, would knock the spear of light away and off to the side with an almighty swing of one of the katanas, causing it to bury itself in the sand. He'd then lower his right arm back down, continuing to hold both fire katanas in his hands as Haji and Takehiro continued fighting against one another.

"Well at least now you both know that I have an ability of my own..."

[Shinomori Katsumi]

It was hot. Fuck, it was hot. Why was it so freaking hot?

Most of Katsumi's armor was off at this point, and she was internally cursing about why in the hell Haji had to pick the desert of all places to do whatever the heck he was doing. Something about spirit training. It was a bit of a blur because she had been half-asleep when he mentioned it.

If it weren't for the breeze she was creating, Katsumi was sure she was going to die from the heat. It was a good thing she picked an Arabian for her horse.

"Ugh. Please... let me almost be there," she groaned, leaning her forehead against Tetsuya's neck and mane.

Upon looking up, Katsumi caught sight of what appeared to be flashes of light, and she suspected it to be Haji. Lightly kicking with her heels, they went towards the commotion.

When getting near enough to make them out (not recognizing the other figures besides Haji at the moment), it appeared there was a spar of sorts. Katsumi wasn't too worried about it and Tetsuya was at a light trot. But her brows furrowed. To her eyes, it was getting a hell of a lot more intense, and they widened at seeing Haji get "in danger." Despite the heat, the woman paled, but then narrowed her eyes sharply.

Jumping off Tetsuya, the woman leaped forward with the help of her musou and quickly concentrated, creating a giant whirlwind. A hammer was about to smash Haji's head in, she was convinced, and some other bastard was just watching. Her Haji getting executed! WHO THE FUCK DID THEY THINK THEY WERE?!?!

"GET AWAY FROM HIM, YOU SONS-A-BITCHES!" shouted the woman, whose whirlwind was suddenly aimed at them full blast. Sand was picked up and tons blew right for the three.

At the very least, Takehiro was going to become a sand snowman. Oops.

[Morei Haji]

Takehiro was quick to react, his own doppleganger slamming into mine before he could release his attack! At least he stopped us from copyright infringement! My doppleganger would grab his, angling them in midair so that the light lance would pierce them both instead of just him. This would send them to the ground in a heap, but seeing as they felt no pain... well, my doppleganger would start wailing on Takehiro's.

Meanwhile, Takehiro was pushing my attacks away with relative ease, binding my legs. I was pulled down off of my feet, looking up to see a dark hammer above me. Oh crap.

"GET AWAY FROM HIM, YOU SONS-A-BITCHES!"

"Eh?" I looked over surprised at the source of the voice, only to be met with a gigantic whirlwind. It pushed me forcefully, causing me to avoid the hammer smashing down. "K-K-K-KATSUMI-CHAAAAN!" I would scream as I was flung into the air, traveling a short distance before the dark shackles would reach the limit of their length before slamming me down onto the ground, resulting in a face full of sand.

My girlfriend was so scary when pissed. Izanagi help us all.

[Amakusa Takehiro]

"GET AWAY FROM HIM, YOU SONS-A-BITCHES!"

"Wat."

Takehiro turned to face the source of the yell, finding a powerful gust of wind coming straight for him! His feet would be planted firmly on the ground, though it did move him back a bit, and a large amount of dirt got in his eyes! He roared angrily, sending out dark tendrils to wrap around Hiroshi - KATSUMI WHO THE FUCK IS THAT's legs, to pull her up into the air and slam her into the ground. The shackles binding Haji would lift him into the air as well, to slam the two into each other!

"THAT FUCKING HURT, KATSUMI!"

Oh, he felt lied to. Horribly, horribly lied to.

[Sanada Yukimura]

"GET AWAY FROM HIM, YOU SONS-A-BITCHES!"

"What the...!?"

Turning to face the source of the yelling, his eyes would widen as a powerful gust of wind came straight for the three of them! With his feet firmly planted on the sand, Yukimura would hold his blades of fire in front of him in a X-shape, as he was sent back a little bit, his cloak whipped around from the whirlwind, though narrowing his eyes combined with his helmet would manage to keep most of the sand out of his eyes. Now Yukimura was angry! For a brief moment, he would end up as a snowman, except made of sand... until the sand would blast apart and swirl around him as his entire body was engulfed in fire, before summoning a large pillar of fire that would appear underneath Katsumi and unfortunately, Haji!

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT FOR KATSUMI-SAN!?"

[Shinomori Katsumi]

She grabbed the bow from her back, ready to kill whoever it was trying to "execute" her boyfriend. But before she could fire, a dark tendril wrapped around her ankle and flung her up, before slamming her onto the ground. Kat groaned from the impact and then suddenly Haji was thrown against her. While it certainly hurt, in a way it made things easier. Taking a hold of Haji, the woman grit her teeth and created wind sickles to slice the tendrils, before aiming to shoot at the one who had attacked them.

Wind whirled around them, acting as a shield, and Katsumi shouted, "I'LL KILL YO-"

But suddenly she stopped and the wind currents slowed. Was that... Yukimura and Takehiro? Her narrowed eyes widened and confusion was written across her features, eyebrows knitting down.

"Sanada-san? Take...hiro?" she asked, voice more like a squeak now. Kat glanced over at Haji. "W-Wha? I... I thought that... you were being... k-kil...-"

Of course, there wasn't much time to really discuss it or for her mind to wrap around the situation, before suddenly her ass felt like it was on fire. Because it was! "EEP!"

A strong gust of wind lifted the two up, before crashing back down away from the fire, and Kat was yelping in pain BECAUSE THAT FUCKING HURT! Hakama sufficiently charred and butt a little roasted, Katsumi was about to begin yelling like everybody else when her brain caught up to speed with the situation. Everyone was saying her name, her real name... even Takehiro. And all of them had powers and everybody but Haji seemed super pissed.

If there was ever an oops moment, this was it.

"Uhhh..." was all Kat could really manage, as she was bug-eyed and stepping backwards, shrinking down. She really, really wished she could have disappeared out of existence in that moment, and Kat gulped heavily, cheeks red as a beet. Nibbling on her bottom lip, Katsumi glanced about nervously, "W-Well..."

With all of this hitting her at once, Katsumi felt distressed and reacted defensively. Breathing in deeply and chest expanding, the woman pointed at Takehiro and exclaimed, tears brimming in her chocolate hues, "WELL, WHY WERE YOU TRYING TO HURT HAJI-KUN THEN!?!?!? ALL I SAW WAS SOME GUY ABOUT TO POUND HIS HEAD IN WITH A FUCKING SHADOW HAMMER-THING!"

She then turned to Yukimura, pointing at him, and continued shouting, "AND... AND YOU WERE JUST STANDING THERE!"

Both of her arms flung up, waving a few times, before falling to her sides. "I THOUGHT HE WAS ABOUT TO BE KILLED AND SOME OTHER GUY WAS JUST WATCHING FOR FUN! WHAT ELSE WAS I SUPPOSED TO THINK OR DO!?!??! I DIDN'T KNOW!!!"

[Morei Haji]

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!"

I would scream as I was flung into the air at Katsumi, colliding with her. I didn't even have time to check to see if she was okay before a PILLAR OF FUCKING FIRE SHOT OUT FROM BENEATH US. Ending up roasted and flung into the air, Katsumi's musou guided us to the ground and I crashed onto the ground in a heap, feeling like a slow-cooked Haji. I think my butt was sizzling.

Looking up at Katsumi as she began to shout, I tried to speak, spitting sand out of my mouth.

"Katsumi... training..."

I was still dazed. But I hoped my point got across. She was so overprotective of me she didn't remember that I came here for spiritual training, and her instincts kicked in when she saw me getting attacked and now everyone was pissed at each other. It was up to me to be the voice of reason!

Wait... I had just been flung through the air and beat and burnt! I didn't need to be reasonable! Katsumi got hurt! NO ONE HURTS MY GIRLFRIEND!

"Takehiro, you need to CALM YOUR SHIT!" I would shout, slamming my fist into the ground with the intent of creating a giant fist of light, slamming up hard between Takehiro's legs from the ground. However, due to my anger, the energy far overshot itself and was about to hit Yukimura instead... OH WELL, HE HURT HER TOO.

[Amakusa Takehiro]

Wordlessly, tears streamed down Takehiro's stoic face. He looked from Katsumi to Haji, from Haji to Yukimura, and words could not express how horribly lied to he felt. A single tear fell from his cheek, crashing against the sand beneath him. His gaze lowered, hands reaching up to take his helmet, which was tied around his neck. Placing it on his head, the Demon of Totomi looked up to his comrades with fierce, red eyes.

"You all knew..."

Takehiro's arms shot outward, and the group would feel the very desert around them begin to rumble. From the horizon, tidal waves of pure darkness would encroach upon the group, crashing upon the sands and looking even more menacing as they got close. "I thought you two were GAY!" With that, he shot his arms inward, sending every wave of energy crashing down upon the people who lied to him from all sides.

[Sanada Yukimura]

"OF COURSE I WAS JUST STANDING THERE! IT WAS GOD DAMN TRAINING! I WAS JUST A SPECTATOR! WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD WANT TO KILL HAJI-SAN IN THE MIDDLE OF A GOD DAMN DESERT!? THE HEAT ALONE CAN KILL ANYONE!"

Yukimura would roar back, only for his eyes to widen as the light fist Haji intended to hit Takehiro with overshot him and ended up aiming for him. Quickly combine the two fire katanas together and slamming his hands together at the wrists, his hands pointed in front of him, he would blast a large stream of fire from his hands, which would propel him backwards through the sand, just barely managing to avoid the light fist as it erupted from the sand.

"WHAT THE HELL HAJI-SAN!? WHAT WAS THAT FO-"

Yukimura would shout, only to stop in mid-sentence as he saw Takehiro place his helmet on and glare at them with fierce red eyes after tears streamed down his face, before feeling the desert rumble beneath his feet... followed by a giant tidal wave of darkness that crashed down upon him, bowling Yukimura over. When the darkness receded, Yukimura had ended up on his back, he hurt all over... and was seriously pissed off.

"... FUCK ALL OF YOU!! I FOUND OUT BY ACCIDENT TAKEHIRO-SAN, AND KATSUMI-SAN PLEADED FOR ME TO NOT REVEAL IT IN THE GOD DAMN CASTLE!!"

He'd roar, slamming both hands down on the ground as flame pillars would erupt beneath all three of them, and fists of fire that would slam down onto them... repeatedly. Not to mention they'd feel the very air around them heat up... to ridiculous temperatures. He was going to roast them alive until he felt calm enough. Clearly he was just thrilled that he got attacked by Katsumi, then Haji, and now Takehiro. Using his spear, he'd climb to his feet, leaning up against it, looking even more pissed off than Takehiro.

"YOU CAN ALL BURN AND DIE IN MY FLAMES FOR ALL I CARE! BECAUSE FUCK YOU ALL!"

He was so pissed off, you could swear his roaring was making even the desert shake...

[Shinomori Katsumi]

And then shit went seriously down. Instead of just yelling and awkwardness, Haji began to scream and attacked Takehiro (and consequently Yukimura), and Katsumi paled. She had never seen Haji like this and now everyone was getting angry with one another. In fact, Kat was so taken aback that she had no response to Yukimura, instead her eyes widening.

This instantly calmed her down and she took a hesitant step backwards. This wasn't right. This shouldn't be happening. They were the Fantastic Four, after all.

"W... Wait. Guys...!" she began, but then Takehiro lost his shit and her jaw snapped closed.

Darkness began to surround them and Katsumi gasped, moving towards Haji. This was bad. This was really, really bad. And why the fuck was Takehiro yelling shit about them being gay and so upset about it? What the hell?!

"W-Why does... it even matter to you?" exclaimed the woman. Scared by the dark energy, Katsumi would create a powerful whirlwind around herself and Haji, acting as a shield that would repel anything thrown at them, or try to, anyway. She again shouted, "It's not like I lie for fun or because I like to...!!!"

Regardless of whether or not she got hurt or not, Katsumi began to cry, tears rolling down her cheeks. She was utterly exhausted from defending them from Tak's attack and the wind slowed. Hands went over her eyes and Katsumi wept, "I-It's not like you would understand, Takehiro."

How could he? There were so many reasons for her to lie about her identity, both to protect herself and being practical, and because she was emotionally and psychologically quite damaged. It's not like one could just easily explain that to someone, especially with the limited and circumstantial encounters Takehiro and Kat had had together.

And then suddenly heat surrounded them and Yukimura was more than mad. He was pissed, and Katsumi felt really guilty. The man was one of the few she trusted, and now he was angry, and everyone was upset and getting injured by crazy-ass powers, and it was all of her fault!

"I'm s-sorry, Sanada-san! I... I didn't mean..." she hiccuped, before beginning to wail, hunching over and crying because so much sadness. "I didn't m-mean to hurt anybody! None of you! N-Now or... or ever!"

[Morei Haji]

Oh crap. Oh crap. Oh crap.

That was all I could think as all of the chaos ensued around us. DARKNESS FROM ABOVE! FIRE FROM BELOW! AND KATSUMI'S TEARS! IT WAS AN ATTACK ON THREE FRONTS BOTH PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY!

As Katsumi created her whirlwind around us, I would hold onto her tightly, channeling all of the energy I could around us to create a sphere of light to encase us in to protect us from all threats. As the darkness beat down upon us, it would strain me to hold this up, but combined with her whirlwind, we would manage to pull through it.

And then came Yukimura's fire bursting from the ground. It would collide against the sphere, and I was already exhausted from defending against Takehiro. The sphere would begin to crack as my energy was waning, but I would do my very best to hold it, hoping Katsumi's Musou could keep it up. The fire was already causing the temperature to become unbearable, let alone if this sphere broke we'd be roasted. AND THE FISTS ON TOP OF US SMASHING AT THE SHIELD WEREN'T HELPING EITHER.

"It's okay, Katsumi-chan... don't cry... you didn't do anything wrong. And I'm going to protect you no matter what."

I'd keep holding her, giving her a reassuring smile despite the fatigue starting to set in, and the sweat pouring from my forehead. I wasn't used to exerting my energy this much, and this shield took a lot out of me with the constant beating it was taking. I had to hold it just long enough to get away from their assault... if only so she wouldn't get hurt. If this shield held, I didn't care how tired or exhausted I became. I didn't want her to be attacked by the dark, or burnt by the flames.

Through the shield, I could see Yukimura raging. Boy, oh boy, was he pissed. I hoped Takehiro would do something about that.

[Amakusa Takehiro]

Everyone but Yukimura seemed to block the dark tidal wave, and it seemed to really piss the guy off. Takehiro would slump to the ground weakly after having exerted so much energy, and just before he hit the floor, he would feel a pillar of flame erupt from beneath him, and a fiery fist hitting him from above. Now, it didn't hurt, mind you, considering he couldn't even feel it, but it was getting a little annoying being rocked back and forth like that.

"Yukimura..." He started, being knocked around some more. "Yukimura." The flames kept coming. "YUKIMURA!" Takehiro roared, rolling out of the way of his attacks, before sending his doppelganger to tackle the man to the floor. "CALM YOUR SHIT!" "Yeah!"

[Sanada Yukimura]

As soon as Yukimura saw Katsumi start to cry, his rage meter, which had skyrocketed past 10, would drop down to 5... only to skyrocket again as Takehiro sent his dark doppelganger to tackle him to the ground, his own fire doppelganger bursting forth from him to intercept the tackle and take one for the team, as it were, while Yukimura ran to the side, to avoid the collision.

"... Calm my shit? CALM MY SHIT!? SAYS THE MAN WHO LAUNCHED A FUCKING TIDAL WAVE OF DARKNESS AT US BECAUSE HE WAS THE LAST TO KNOW!
