Conquering the Swamp [Dungeon|Open]

Once out of the right chamber, Yukimura would take some time to equip all the armor he gathered from the creatures he fought, and the moment he did, holy shit did he feel amazing! Granted, his arm was still unusable and his hip was impaled, but man, he felt pretty damn good! Even more so when Takehiro gave him some of the items he looted!

"Amakusa-san... Thank you."

After equipping the items given, he felt even more stronger, holy crap!

"So what shall we do now? Take on the last chamber? I am all for it, seeing as we've gotten this far."

[Morei Haji]

"You have my thanks, Takehiro." I bowed my head politely as he handed out extra loot. Equipping it all, I felt like I could take a direct hit from a boulder and walk it off... not that I wanted to try that or anything. Checking the equipment I looted from the last enemy I ha slain, I frowned as I noticed the boot blade was gone. Regardless, I felt consideralby stronger than I had been when we had first arrived here. My leg still hurt, but the wrap was holding up fine for now.

"If we can expect further strength from the last chamber, I don't see why not... I pray we do not find ourselves in as much danger as before though."

It was a hopeless wish to have. I still felt terrible for holding everyone back in the last chamber. A mistake I hoped to correct later, if not now.

Irritation subsided and Katsumi calmed down considerably when they were in safety... and when Takehiro was more than generous. Bowing her head, she made sure to show her appreciation before putting on the armor and equipping the new blade, "Thank you, Takehiro."

After everything was settled (and she would go to Haji and ask about his leg), Katsumi rolled her shoulders and nodded her head. "I am more than ready for the final chamber."

She really was. Despite their luck, Katsumi felt... powerful. Even more than before. They could handle the final area, she was sure.

[Oda Nobunaga]

[OoC: Left chamber begun. Objectives:
1) Pass through all of the traps without losing a single member
2) Obtain the Daimyo's treasure and bring it back to the start.
3) You must make it back to the entrance to be successful.]

Once the door to the left chamber was reached it, like the doors before it, would pull the group inside, before closing off in a dark void. The room in its entirety was a large, straight chamber. Across the hall would be the Daimyo chest, sitting atop a pedestal.

[Amakusa Takehiro]

Once in the final chamber, Takehiro would put his glaive and ax on his back, brandishing his whip-swords. Looking around carefully, he was sure there had to be some catch to this. There was no way they could just walk up and take the thing.

"Well, let's see how this works, shall we?"

Cracking the swords into whips along the ground, he would begin to twirl them in figure-eights, striking every tile he could reach from where he was at with all of his strength. He wanted to see what would happen.

Not surprised by being pulled into the left chamber like the last two times, the path looked straightforward enough, but nothing in this castle was ever that straightforward, why would this chamber be any different? With his spear in his hand, while Takehiro struck every tile he could reach with his whip swords, Yukimura would use the length of his spear and strike the walls from his spot just before the hallway, seeing if any pressure plates were located along it. Because you never know.

As Katsumi checked up on me, I merely smiled at her and told her I was fine. Once we were out of here, then I'd worry about tending to my wounds better.

The chamber pulled us in, unsurprisingly, and we found ourselves in a room with a single, straight path. The Daimyo's chest was already in plain sight. Obviously a trap. Since the other two had all the trap-checking covered, I merely held my conjoined blades at the ready. Curiously, I did poke at the floor before us with the tip of the blade mostly because I didn't want to feel left out. ;^;

[Shinomori Katsumi]

The room they entered was empty, and Kat's eyes narrowed. Bullshit. There was no way they could simply walk right to the treasure. It couldn't possibly be that easy.

Considering her bow obviously had more range, Katsumi would begin to shoot basically everywhere the other two couldn't reach, both tiles and walls.

"Be at the ready," she murmured, knees bent and on the ball of her feet, ready to move at a moment's notice.

What pressure tiles the group did set off revealed a good number of traps.

1) At about the center of the chamber, spikes would slam downward and strike the floor, before returning to the ceiling, and repeating.
2) The walls themselves were lined with razor-sharp discs.
3) Certain tiles were spike-traps, pressure-sensitive to cause them to rise. They restore after a few seconds, before striking up again.
4) Certain spots in the walls had slits were arrows seemed to fire in volleys, and those volleys did not stop.
5) The Daimyo chest was surrounded by a revolving spike trap.

[Amakusa Takehiro]

"Well, shit," Takehiro muttered, dropping his ax and glaive at his feet. Taking only a single whip-sword, the mercenary would proceed cautiously down the path, avoiding the spike traps and walls. When it came time to face the arrows, Takehiro would duck under their range if they were firing horizontally, or hop through between volleys if they fired vertically.

"Fucking dungeon and its fucking traps..."

His jaw dropping at the sheer amount of traps they had to face, it wouldn't make sense for all of them to go through the traps to get to the treasure, so he would turn to Haji and Katsumi as Takehiro moved ahead.

"Two of us should stay here and try to uncover as many traps as possible, while one other person goes with Amakusa-san. I'd go, but two people with one good arm between them isn't wise. Any volunteers?"

When it was decided, pulling his whip sword out and placing his spear back on his back, Yukimura would try to whip at the tiles and walls as far as he possibly could reach, to help uncover any other traps.

[Morei Haji]

"Ahh, crap..." I spoke as I noticed all of the traps come out. No way was it going to be easy, but I didn't expect this. This definitely wasn't going to be fun. Hearing Yukimura's suggestion, I stabbed my dual blade into the ground to keep it there, drawing only my whip sword from my back.

"I'll go."

I left it at that, just in case Katsumi volunteered to go because she was uninjured or something. I didn't want to risk her going through her, it was too dangerous. I began to walk down the pathway cautiously, avoiding the razor-bladed walls and the spike traps. I also would proceed past the arrows with caution, either crawling or waiting between volleys, before proceeding.

I didn't want to get skewered. Shish-kabob Haji did not sound appealing to me.

[Shinomori Katsumi]

Now this was more like what she expected, although it still sucked ass. Frowning at the sight of the traps, she glanced over at Takehiro moving forward and wasn't surprised in the least. Yukimura offered to stay behind and she nodded in agreement. It made sense. As much as she wanted to take the offer to go forward because she was uninjured and smaller, Kat also realized that her range attacks would be good in the back, to both reveal more traps and to attack anything that could potentially harm the others on their path.

And then Haji offered, and she sighed.

Walking towards him, Katsumi tossed aside hiding her feelings and embraced Haji tightly, whispering in his ear, "Be careful, Haji-kun. I need you to come back in one piece."

Stepping back, the archer nodded and watched as he went off. Drawing back the string of her bow, Katsumi would begin to fire at the areas she had either missed before or hadn't covered.

Tak/Haji: The two would proceed through relatively unhindered! The arrows would whiz by them, and they would be able to avoid the spike pits successfully! There would be a few close calls, though, but they would pull through!

Yuki/Kat: These two successfully avoided all traps! By staying in the safe area! Yukimura would find he set off no traps! The tiles seemed to be just plain ol' tiles! Phew! Katsumi would notice, above, that ten small rings would begin to lower from the roof!

[Amakusa Takehiro]

Before he took off, Takehiro turned back to see who'd be coming with him, and he cocked a brow as Hiroshi embraced Haji. That... seemed unusual. Though he didn't pay much attention to it, and began dodging arrows like a badass. When Haji was next to him, though, "So you gay, or?"

Still advancing toward the chest.

If this was an anime, Yukimura would have a sweatdrop on the back of his head seeing Katsumi embrace Haji... while Takehiro was in the vicinity. It was because he knew Katsumi's secret, that it did not matter to him, but Takehiro did not. Which would raise questions, no doubt. After Haji set off, leaving him and Katsumi behind, they were safe! By staying in the safe area!

Who would've guessed.

Though he would set off no other traps, that was also a good thing, he supposed. It meant they had uncovered most of the traps that laid ahead for Takehiro and Haji. Still, he would keep his whip-sword at the ready, occasionally poking at the tiles in front of him.

Katsumi's embrace felt nice. And it made me feel more confident, and safer, despite all the death machines whirling around me.

I would halt as Takehiro asked his question randomly, one of the arrows whizzing right by my face (them close calls). "G-gay? What?" I was honestly confused about why he would ask such a question. I mean, Katsumi was a... ohhhhh. Takehiro didn't know her identity yet, I had forgotten all about that.

I continued to advance towards the chest as well, being very cautious and watching my steps carefully. "It's really not what you think, Takehiro."

[Shinomori Katsumi]

Yeah, Takehiro didn't know. And for all of what she knew, Yukimura didn't even know the full story, like about Kat and Haji being together. But she didn't care, because if anything happened to Haji... while she didn't want to think about it, their last moment needed to be a positive one, regardless of whenever it was. Now or in the future.

Katsumi stood up straight, ignoring the stares, face entirely impassive and serious. One thing was primarily on the mind: keeping Takehiro and Haji safe. She would not fail at her new mission, and warily watched as those holes rose down.

"Takehiro! Haji-kun! Watch out from above. Holes are coming down. Nothing good will come from them," shouted the woman, eye trained on the holes. She was ready to fire at them and, depending on what would happen, Katsumi would warn the others of her action before taking fire at one of the holes to see what would happen.

Tak/Haji: The spikes from the ceiling would shoot down directly in front of Takehiro and Haji, and the arrows that fired overhead would pass directly over their heads! The tiles at their sides would collapse, revealing spike pits, and the path ahead would become narrow! VERY narrow!

Yuki/Kat: The rings, unhindered, would continue to drop, and it appeared they were linked to a chain! Once they were fully extended, each of the rings would open up a hatch that unleashed five large birds manifested of complete darkness! The group of birds charged at Katsumi and Yukimura!

[Amakusa Takehiro]

As the ground around him collapsed, Takehiro crouched low, before hopping through the path as the spikes from above would return to the ceiling! Taking things simple and slow, Takehiro would crawl along the narrow path as carefully as he could, while trying to insure they got the chest quickly enough that Yukimura and Hiroshi would have no trouble!

"Not what I think? So, what, Hiroshi's actually a woman, in disguise? Haha, well that'd be some shit, huh?"

Looking up at the ceiling as he heard Katsumi yell out, he would tighten his grip on his spear as the rings dropped unhindered, and once fully extended appeared to be connected to a chain, which opened up each hatch releasing five birds each, totaling fifty birds. Fifty LARGE birds, made entirely of darkness.

"Crap crap CRAP!"

Yukimura would shout as he backed up, away from the hallway and back into the room, to give himself more room to maneuver, before attempting to thrust his spear at the head of the closest bird, to take it out quickly, before moving onto another one.

[Morei Haji]

I crouched down to give myself some more balance as the area around me collapsed. I waited a while, getting the pattern of the ceiling spike trap and would move forward upon an opening, crawling fast. I would also move along the narrow path, staying behind Takehiro enough to where he'd have ample room in case he had to move backwards for any reason.

"I, uh... yeah, that'd be quite something... haha..." Boy, his jokes were scary close. Wonder what else he'd have to say.
