"But father...!"
"I know your skills with the bow are good. But there will always be more for a person to learn and improve upon. I do not doubt the skills of my men, but their display of accuracy at the most recent training exercise was, less than desirable. This is not punishment my son, this is your training."
"But...! ... Very well then father."
His father ordering a straw training dummy to be set up 100 yards away, he would then hand Yukimura a bow and a quiver full of twenty arrows, and give him his objective. He would not be the only one completing the lesson in archery though, all the men of his unit would be working on their skills as well. Not only did this give Yukimura a chance to redeem himself and his men, but also improve his archery skills as well. Pulling out an arrow and nocking it, he would pull the arrow back, and take aim at the dummy. Clearly nervous under the watchful eye of his father, Yukimura would release the arrow, as it would soar straight for the dummy... and hit it in the leg.
That was not his target. His target was the dummy's head. He was certainly off to a great start. Nocking another arrow, he would try again, this time hitting it in the arm. Then in the shoulder the third time. And then the neck the fourth time. This was not turning out good for him. Aware that his father would continue to watch him regardless of how nervous he was, taking a deep breath in, Yukimura would exhale... and focus. Slowly pulling the arrow back, focusing and paying no heed to his father nearby, Yukimura would take aim... and release the arrow, as it would fly straight and true... and hit the dummy in the head. This was no time to celebrate though, and continuing to concentrate, Yukimura would fire over and over, as one arrow after another would bury itself in the dummy's head. By the time all twenty arrows had been used up, the dummy was literally like a pincushion, covered in arrows sticking out of its head.
"Well done my son. Now for your final objective. This time, you will be firing on ten of my men as they run across the length of the training area. Do you think you can succeed?"
"Of course father! I will not fail!"
"Excellent."
Calling the men over, as they would quickly run over covered from head to toe in padded armor, Yukimura would be handed ten arrows, and given the command to begin. Nocking an arrow, Yukimura would take aim at the first man as he ran across the training area, keeping a sharp eye on him and releasing the arrow, as it would soar into the man's leg, causing him to stumble and fall down. Immediately after, the next man would take off, as the same course of action followed, and Yukimura would rinse and repeat. Once all ten arrows had been used up, Yukimura had only missed two men, as his father would give him a nod of approval, causing Yukimura to sigh inwardly with relief. He had redeemed himself and his family name, and under the scrutiny of his father no less.
Thank Amaterasu!

Amongst the unit of men standing out in the cold rain that lashed and pounded down relentlessly, stood the youngest son and child of Masayuki Sanada, Yukimura Sanada. Clad in a simple long sleeved dark blue cotton shirt and hakama, unlike most of his father's men that made up his unit, Yukimura was not overly muscular or bulky. In fact, the young master was rather lean and tall, but what he lacked in pure strength, he made up for in speed. Completely drenched from head to toe, there was a reason why they were all outside on such a stormy day. Requested by Lord Shingen himself, all units were to participate in a mandatory fitness exercise, which had to be completed within the next twelve hours.
All of them lined up, the moment the order was given, all of them would run out of the camp, to complete a set of ten laps around the camp. Though it sounded simple enough, because of the rain, the ground was muddy and hard to maneuver through. While many of the men would push themselves to get through the mud quickly, Yukimura would pace himself, keeping to the back of the pack. Each lap feeling like three, as many of the men began to tire once hitting the halfway mark, Yukimura on the other hand, was still good to go, and would gradually begin to pass many of the men as he continued on his laps. Soon enough, around lap eight, Yukimura was near the front of the pack, and when he neared the end of his final lap, he was at the front. In total, his run had taken him at least four hours, given the size of Lord Shingen's camp.
The bottom of his hakama coated in mud, there was no time to rest, as the second objective to be completed was 150 push-ups. Now Yukimura didn't possesses the greatest amount of upper body strength, but it wasn't anything to sneeze at either. Taking in a deep breath and slowly letting it out, he would lower himself down to the ground, and getting into position, would begin. The next three hours would be just plain agonizing. Though the other men would try to quickly complete their push-ups, even with their upper body strength, they were wearing themselves out quickly, so to ensure he didn't strain his muscles, Yukimura broke up the push-ups into sets of ten, giving his arms a chance to recuperate, as well as keep up a rather reasonable pace. By the end of the three hours, he had completed his, while the rest of the men appeared too exhausted to continue, but for the sake of their pride, would soldier on, eventually completing the push-ups.
The last objective to be completed, and he could finally get out of the cold and rain, was 200 sit-ups. Now this is where Yukimura shined. Sit-ups were not as labor intensive as push-ups, but they still required a decent amount of muscle. Rolling over and ending up on his back, Yukimura would pause for a moment, before beginning. Doing his best to keep up a reasonable but brisk pace, he didn't want to strain his stomach muscles, but he knew by the end of the exercise, he was going to be sore. His older sisters were going to fuss over him to no end, though in this case, he wouldn't mind it. He was going to need a hot bath immediately. It wasn't the easiest to finish, especially how tired he was, not to mention his muscles screamed bloody murder at him, but the moment he finished the two hundredth sit-up, he would just flop back down onto the ground, breathing in and out heavily.
In total, it had taken him 3 hours to finish the sit-ups. That was the most physically intensive exercise he had ever done, and he was just plain exhausted. Slowly pushing himself up into a sitting position, then into a standing position, he'd literally drag his feet through the mud all the way home.

With the bandit taken down, Yukimura would quickly kick up the katana he previously wielded and take it for his own, as well as the sheath, tying the sheath and katana onto his back, allowing for easy access should he require it. He'd then move towards the villagers fighting against the ten remaining bandits, to try and strike down any bandit that was nearby, so the villagers could quickly head back into the village to defend it.

"This isn't good..."
"Half of our forces have already been wiped out!"
"What'll we do young Master! Young master?"
"... Yeah... It just might work..."
Yukimura's unit company, comprised of his father's men, had been taking part in a mock battle against an opposing unit company comprised of Lord Shingen's men, as per request of Lord Shingen himself. Both sides were experienced in the art of war, Yukimura included, but this mock-battle was not meant to test their experiences in fighting. This mock-battle was meant for them to work on their leadership skills and teamwork, and so far, Yukimura was not doing his clan proud. The remaining men left, himself included, pinned down from constant arrow fire, literally the only thing keeping them alive was their shields locked together in a dome shape.
"I have a plan. We are going to form up into the turtle formation, three men in front, one on either side, three in the back, and two in the middle. Those in the middle will form the shield roof, while the rest will cover the front, side, and back with our shields. We are going to hit them hard and fast, but the most important thing is, everyone must march at the same pace, or we will all die here. Understood?"
"Yes young Master!"
Although the men were worried, they had faith in their young Master, and gathering their shields together, would quickly get into formation, Yukimura at the head of the circle. With a nod, they would begin their march, as wave after wave of arrows rained down on them from up above, but due to their formation, would bounce off their metal shields harmlessly. Slowly they inched towards the opposing unit, and the moment they were in range, the spears from the front row would shoot out, impaling the unlucky men standing in front, as three were immediately taken down. Keeping up the pressure, they would march forward, the archers trying in vain to take them down, but with the formation they had, the arrows could not reach them, as the archers would be forced to stop and take aim to fire through the gaps of the shields, which was long enough for them to move forward and impale them.
Impaling the archers on their spears as they marched forward, taking down three at a time, soon the opposing unit had been reduced from a huge twenty men to just eight. With the last volley of arrows launched in vain, reluctantly, the men placed their bows down, surrendering to Yukimura and his unit.
"Young master, your plan worked!"
"... Lord Shingen and father will be pleased to hear about this..."

With spear in hand, Yukimura would swing it in a tight horizontal arc, to try and counter the bandit's thrust, as his spear would hopefully collide with the katana and stop it dead in its tracks, preventing it from reaching it. He would then try to shove the bandit backwards while simultaneously rolling his spear off the katana's edge and then try to bury the blade into the bandit's stomach, before ripping his spear free and effectively disembowel him.

"... No. But I figured I ask anyways."
The odds were definitely not in their favor, but based on the display of skills the man gave, Yukimura was confident the two of them would emerge victorious. While the man took on one half of the group, Yukimura would handle the other half, as two of them would rush towards Yukimura, swinging their katanas for Yukimura's legs.
Jamming the blunt end of his spear into the floor and using it as leverage, he would swing his legs outward to the left and slam his feet into one of the men, the other katana swinging harmlessly beneath his feet as the man he had kicked went crashing into his partner, knocking both of them down to the ground, a sickening crunch heard as their heads said hello to the ground. After completing a 360, landing back in his original spot, one would charge at him, holding his katana aloft above his head before swinging it down at him as soon as he was within range.
Kicking his legs up, Yukimura would launch a one-two kick combo into the chest of the man on his left, sending him backwards and crashing to the floor. He would then immediately kick up two katanas of two of the downed men and duel wield them, as he too, was left with two men on his side.
"That was pathetic. My older sister-in-law could defeat you all easily..."

(OOC: Siding with the village.)
Clad in his samurai armor, his spear held loosely by his side, Yukimura had been out on a casual stroll, to clear his mind and regain his focus, when he had stumbled upon a village that was on the brink of a raid by bandits. That, and to get some peace and quiet. He loved his older sister-in-law dearly, but even he could only take so much of her doting on him, her husband's baby brother, to a point, before he needed to get away. After hearing the call to arms by the village Elder, he stood at the fore-front of the group of ten men that had gathered to protect their village and family, his eyes set on the horizon.
A battle was on the rise...

"... They were ready to take my life. I am simply doing what I must to protect mine."
Yukimura would reply back calmly, looking back into the man's eyes after he made his way over, his right hand hovering hear his spear, in case the situation escalated... which it did. His hand quickly snapping his spear up as the man fell towards him from being struck on the back of his head by an angry Tokugawa supporter, managing to catch himself, meanwhile, Yukimura would quickly spring off his stool and dart to the side, finding himself surrounded by the remaining Tokugawa supporters, who decided to man up and attack him.
All of them leaping at him in one giant mass, katanas drawn, crouching down and the blunt end of his spear pointed at them, he would quickly spin on his heel and strike all of the men's legs at once, knocking them down to the ground. He would then push off his front foot, inevitably finding himself back to back with the other guy, spear pointed at the circle of men surrounding them.
"I'll take one half if you take the other half..."

Seated at the bar, right at the end, somewhat hidden in the shadows, clad in his family armor, his spear resting against the counter beside him, Yukimura drank a cup of warm sake, lowering the empty cup back onto the counter and filling it up from the bottle in front of him. As he was under the command of Lord Shingen, one would've expected him to join the group favoring the Takeda faction... But he did no such thing. He had paid no heed to the group when he came in, and did the same now, sitting with his back facing the shouting match that had started up and the main door.
"Tokugawa! What the...? Wait a minute... I recognize that boy over at the bar! He's Sanada's youngest son! Get him!"
Feeling the back of his armor grabbed, Yukimura would be spun around on his stool, finding himself facing the large group of Tokugawa supporters, led by a large, bulky man. Giving them no reply, but with a quick spin, he drove his elbow directly into the guy's face. The feeling of smashing flesh and the sound of the guy's nose breaking were beautiful. Pure poetry.
The guy dropped to the floor like a sack of potatoes, clutching his nose. Yukimura shook his head. This guy was big, which meant he had more weight pulling him down. And clearly he had no threshold for pain. The others on the group all slowly turning pale, they would make no sudden movement towards Yukimura, clearly second guessing their decision to try and take him down.

Name: Sanada Yukimura Faction: Takeda Ethnicity: Japanese Age: 21 Gender: Male Height: 6'1" Weight: 174 lbs Eye Color: Dark brown Hair Color: Dark brown Appearance: Lean and tall, Yukimura has a lightly tanned complexion and a wiry but tensely muscled build. Built more for speed and striking quickly than pure strength, his muscles are tight and highly defined, like corded rope, throughout his body, and his stomach sports a carved abdominal eight-pack. Yukimura has a permanent scar running from the top of his left shoulder to the top of his collar bone from the wound Hattori Hanzo inflicted and a scar on his left leg when he was stabbed, both in battle. Personality: Yukimura has a rough outward appearance and acts cool, but inside he has a stubborn heart and is hot-headed. He is very devoted to his lord and highly respects Shingen, addressing him as "great lord" (お館様, Oyakata-sama). Yukimura values honor and duty above all else, and is very respectful of his adversaries, fighting with no tricks or cheating. His ideal is to walk the path of the warrior, and constantly searches for new possibilities to test his skills. In his life, battles are everything. A true warrior at heart, he believes every man's worth -including his own- can only be seen in the battlefield, and is very driven to prove himself. History: Nobushige, also known as Yukimura, was the second born and second son to Masayuki Sanada, and younger than his older brother, Nobuyuki, by one year. From the day Yukimura was born, he was trained as a samurai, Masayuki putting his sons through a strict and harsh training regiment, all so that Nobuyuki and Nobushige could eventually become a part of Takeda Shingen's army and fight alongside his father. That all changed however, when Tokugawa Ieyasu and his troops invaded their territory, intent on overthrowing them and taking control of their lands. During the battle, Yukimura fought alongside his father and older brother, the three of them taking down enemies left and right, the numbers slowly thinning out. Their father letting out a hearty roar, not only from the thrill of the battle and their enemies numbers lowering, but also seeing his sons in battle, his roar was cut short as more enemies came charging at them from the crest of the battlefield hill distracting him long enough for one of Uesugi's men to sneak up on him and slash him in the back, right where he stood. At the sight of his father's crumpling body, Yukimura let out a cry akin to that of a wounded beast, and with fury in his eyes, proceeded to slaughter every enemy in his sight, losing track of his older brother in his rampage. However, the sheer number of enemies eventually overwhelmed Yukimura, and he ended up sustaining major injuries that placed him in a coma, including an injury to his shoulder. By the end of the battle, both sides had taken a heavy number of casualties. Before his strength gave out on him, Masayuki managed to drag his way to the bleeding and crumpled forms of his sons, and literally dragged himself all the way to Shingen's camp. There, before his body gave up on him, father and sons were rushed to the medical tents and given immediate medical aid. The last thing Masayuki saw before he passed out was his sons being placed onto beds and the doctor rushing into the tent. Months later, Yukimura awoke, completely healed of the dire injuries that had been inflicted on him, including the injury to his shoulder and leg, though it left permanent scars behind. With his older brother fully recovered and in charge of defending their castle and land and his father still recovering from his injuries, Yukimura set out not only to avenge his father and ensure his efforts to save him were not in vain, but also to become more stronger to ensure his father's safety while he continued to recover.
