Shou listen as the man said he didn't care what those in charge did with the man once he left, his care and only cared about the belonging of the dead if they were valuable in nature or evidence against the bounty. That was something Shou didn't really care about. These men had given up the right to any possession they had when they attacked these people. Heading outside, Shou quickly gathered up the thugs weaponry and checked them over for anything else. The were some valuables not much, but as agreed he left them there for the archer to claim.
Returning inside he dropped the few knives and katana in a corner of the room, and took and seat on the ground nearby them. Looking over at the injured man, fire in his eyes. He wondered where these men had come across these weapons, probably looted from a battle filled of some kind or someone they had killed in the past. The thought disgusted him.
"How long do you think it will be before he can be moved then. The package I need to deliver isn't a urgent one but it does need to get there eventually. Would slinging him over the back of a horse be a bad idea?" Shou asked a slight grin of grim satisfaction of the mental image of seeing the men in pain shaken around on the back of a horse. "And what brings out such a proficient archer as yourself out here Saito-san?" He asked curious getting the best of him.

At last another tiring trip was over, and Shou was glad to be home after having made a round to some of the local town with message on behalf of his lord. Dismounting his horse and tying the steed up, he started to make his way to go meet with Matsudaira Kazuko. His lord and vassal of the Takeda clan. Planning to hand over the messages in reply to those he had taken out. Reaching down to his side to untie the satchel he had to carry the missives he realized that something was wrong. It didn’t seem as heavy as it should. Opening the bag he looked inside and counted the protective tubes inside. Then he panicked. There was one less then there should have been. Tipping the content of the bag out, in order to recount them the cases and what appeared to be a small note on a card.
‘Time is running out.’
Four simple words that turned his panicked state into sickening feeling in his gut. Quick as he could he loaded the bag back up with the messages and slid the card into the band of his hakama. Quickly he ran the bag inside and track down one of Kazuko’s other messengers come couriers and handed the bag over with instruction to deliver the messages to him and that he would return with the last as quickly as he could. Rushing back outside to his horse, he untied the animal and vaulted onto it back as quickly as he could. He had no way of knowing which of the messages was the missing one, not unless he had opened the others and that wasn’t something he would get away with. With not much to go on, and with time apparently running out, he had no choice but to retrace his route.
Shou knew for a fact that he had all of the messages when he left the last town, and the only other time he had stopped on the route home was at small often used watering hole between here and the nearest town. There had been other people tending to animals there and it seemed like the most likely location for the message to have been stolen. Concentrating, he forced his stomach to settle as best as he could, calming his nerve before taking a hold of his mounts reigns. “Come on.” He muttered to the animal whipping the reigns and driving the beast to take off as fast as he could. Dodge between people and carts on his way out of town it was only when he was finally clear of town that he really drove the animal.
The next few hours were a pain, for him as well as his horse. The padding of saddle was lacking, and the pace that he set left him bouncing up and down on the back of his horse, and by the time he could see the watering hole in the distance, he was saddle sore something dire. Jumping down off his horse he led it the rest of the way on foot. Eyes darting over the few other people tending to animals. “Now what do I do?” Shou asked himself unsure how to proceed. “Are you okay there?” One of the people by the water side asked with a smirk. Looking up Shou examined the guy asking. A distance sense of recognition filled his mind. “Not really, were you here a few hours ago?” Shou asked. “Indeed I was, looking for something?” The individual ask almost laughing.
Shou suddenly put a hand to his side where one of his daggers was hidden under his hakama. “Who are you what do you want?” Shou demanded, knowing the man’s question was to direct to be a coincidence. “It’s simple; you pay me to return the message. Unopened in fact, and if you even think about drawing that dagger, I’ll kill you were you stand instead.” The thief explained tapping the short bladed katana sheathed at his side. “You can’t really expect me pay. Plus if you were willing to kill me why didn’t you just do so and take what I had.” Shou wondered. “I’ve already hidden it, so you won’t get it back if you don’t pay. I have no desire to kill someone I can blackmail again in the future. Will you really return home having failed to bring an important message with you?” The man said laughing once again and quickly drawing his sword.
“Let me tell you how this is going to work. You hand over everything you've got I tell you were your message is and then I walk away and maybe I do this again in the future. You don’t pay, I kill you because you've made it obvious you’re not one to be blackmailed so there no point leaving you alive. You take too long to decide and well your message is currently getting farther and farther away. What it’s going to be?” “I think I’ll take option 3.” Shou said with a grin. “Disarm you and make you tell me.” He added flicking the blades from out of his clothes and into his hands. “Have it your way.” The thief shouted said dashing forward katana repeatable slashing out in an attempt to kill him.
Dodging back desperately and just as desperately Shou wished he was trained or at least carried a larger weapon of some kind. The lack of reach of his daggers made it hard to attempt attacking back without risking his life. But the man had already gotten too close for deadly throw to be a viable possibility. Parry the blade aside with a flick of his wrist, Shou jumped back, and called for his horse. Grabbing of to the saddle and letting the beast drag him aside. However it was too late and the thief’s sword slashed down the back of his leg. Screaming out in pain he pulled himself on top his mount. Gaining some distance between the two of them, he reared the mount around, and with quick motion threw one of his daggers in a spinning motion at the thief.
However the thief sliced the dagger out of the air, and of some distance before charging sword raised to deal a deadly blow to Shou’s horse to take away his advantage. Shou reacted instinctively and leap of his horse and on top of the man, his free hand grabbing the wrist of the thief as they slammed into the ground. The pair struggled on the ground, rolling over and over in attempt to get above the other. Eventually Shou managed to get on top and slammed the man’s hand into the ground repeatedly until the thief lost grip of his sword and Shou held a dagger to the man’s neck.
“Don’t move” Shou ordered his free hand, grabbing the man’s sword, as he pressed the dagger in to the man’s throat. “Tell me where it is?” Shou demanded, bring the sword to also rest at the man’s throat before carefully pulling himself off the man. “Not going to happen.” The thief spat back. “I don’t like killing, but I’m not above hurting.” Shou explained slice his dagger down the side of the man’s leg while keeping him places with the threat of the sword. “That one was pay back. Now where is it?” “Bite me.” The man shouted back through gritted teeth. Once again slide the dagger into the man’s leg. “This will kill you eventually, but I’d rather return home a failure, instead of a sell-out. Now tell me.” “Damn you.” A third slice down the man leg, led to a pain scream. “You have two chances left before I kill you.” “You don’t have to balls.” The man said grinning. Moving the knife to a more vital location to the man. Shou’s comment hit home. “I do but you might not.” Shou bluffed as best he could, the metal of the dagger, making it a better threat.
“I’ll tell, I’ll tell. I hid it by a cherry tree, about ten minutes that way. Just don’t.” The thief begged. “That wasn't too hard now was it?” Shou said getting up, before knocking the man out with a kick to the side of the head. Limping over to recover his dagger and tossing the sword into the water, before clutching his leg as he made his way to his horse. Planning to return here and drag the man off back home if he had been lying about the message location. In pain and bleeding, he managed to find the tree the thief had spoken of, and surprisingly the letter and it tube like container was hiding in a small freshly dug hole. “Well I'm glad that’s over.” He muttered to himself stashing the message away and remounting his horse for the trip home, and to finish his delivery. And medical attention would be nice as well.

Shou helped carry the thug through, and then watched as Saito got to work preparing some kind of medical concoction. He was glad however when Saito mention that the closest larger town would be the best bet in order to hand in the bounty. He could deliver the package, and swing by and pick his horse back up on the way out of town. It should have rested enough since he left it tied up a couple hours back. He was even gladder when Saito said that he would carry the head.
However right now the task of helping the injured man was in front, and at Saito instruction he held him down to stop him from struggling in pain as Saito did his best to treat him. He had to use his weight to hold the man down more then his strength, the man was physical stronger then he was and currently in serious pain. As the smaller man dealt with the arrow wound.
Mentioning out loud, something about blood flow Shou wondered if that meant the man would be okay. "So what exactly are we going to do with him after you have bandage him up anyway? Handing him over to anyone would likely just have him executed making helping slightly redundant." Shou pointed out. "Also do you mind if I lay claim to the thug weapons. As I'm sure my liege would love being able to arm a few more soldier in these time for nothing." He added looking out towards the back door, where the fray and the thugs bodies and weapons would lay. "It's either that or let the people hear arm themselves, with them."

He watched in disgust and cringe at the sight of the the archer beheading the leader of the group. It wasn't a pleasant sight but not one he could he hadn't seen before. Violence was everywhere and with it came the same sort of gore. After finishing the archer introduced themselves and suggested that they get the injured man inside so Saito could better tend to the man. In his heart he felt like he shouldn't be shown the kindness, he was part of this group. but killing a man to injured to fight back was dishonourable, plus there had already been enough death here, maybe this would set the guy on a more noble way of life.
"If you think it's best, I'm not well verse in the method of care giving." Shou answered moving over to the thug, ready to help Saito move him inside as gently as he could. Even though he wanted to be less then careful with the man. But Saito wanted to care for the man, and it had been him that had saved the women's life not him, and so he was willing to follow his lead.
"So where do you even go to claim the bounty on him. It not something that's ever come up for me in the past?" Shou asked. Running messages didn't normally interact with with bounties and the like. Except maybe taking messages to a noble requesting a bounty actually be placed on someone. Not that he would know as most messages he delivered he didn't know what they contained. "Carrying someone's head, is slightly morbid to me." He added with another cringe.

Shou watched as the archer, took down the last of the group, and quickly interrogated one of them about bounties. So the archer was a bounty hunter or at least a opportunist who wasn't going to let money pass by when it was possible to acquire some. Before tending to the wounds of the one who had told the archer that the hostage taken did have a bounty on his head. Shou nodded as the archer thanked him for his assistance, he was just glad that the women was unharmed.
When the archer offered to split the bounty on the bandit head with him though he was slightly surprised. HE couldn't think of a reason not to do so. 'Guess I'm one of the opportunist to then' He thought to himself. "I was just glad to help. I'm going to go check on the owner and his wife, then I'll help you carry that asshole." Shou said to the archer heading back inside.
"Are you two okay?" He asked the owner and his wife, who were hugging each other tears welled eyed and shaken bodies. "Yes Yes thank you, for saving my wife." The owner thanked bowing his head to Shou. "Don't thank me, thank the bowmen over there." Shou replied. "Though I don't suppose you got my package ready before everything happened?" Shou asked. "It's over there." The owner said pointing. Recovering the package, and stowing it away, Shou went back over to the archer.
"Lets get this thug out of here. I'm Yamabara Shou thanks for save the women." Shou introduced himself bowing his head thankfully to the archer. "I don't know what what I would have done if you hadn't been here." Shou added before recovering his second dagger and hiding them both away.

"This is none of your fuckin' business, twit! Get the fuck out of the way!"
A voice shouted out not in answer to his question, and Shou quickly flicked a dagger into each of his hand heading into the back. The scene that greeted him, was not one he was expect. A group of thugs holding the owners wife hostage and a smaller man bow drawn and aimed at them. "Let her go." The archer demanded of them. Hiding by the entrance, he flicked the blades over in his hand catching them by the blades. Anger inside him welled up at the scene and while he wanted to help protect the women, he desire more to rid the world of thugs that would take a women at knife point.
"Shoot now"
Jumping from the entrance with a flick of the wrist the blades in his hands flew outwards at two of the men not holding the women hostage. Hoping that the archer would act decisively and shoot the hostage taker before he could harm the women. As the knifes would meet there marks and stab point first into the chest of one and the shoulder of the other. Dashing forward, at one of the injured men, grabbing his arms as he attempt to bring a sword down on top of him. Using his other hand he grabbed his dagger back out of the thugs and plunged it back in to finish him off.
Turning back to the hostage taken, he hope beyond anything that the archer had managed to take a shot at the man before he realised what was happening, and saved the women but was ready to dagger in hand to kill the thug if the archer had failed. As he wrestled the katana of the now dead thug ready to help the smaller man fight whoever was left.

When Shou had awoke for the day and had seen the harshness of the weather, the pouring rain and muddy land. He had planned to unlike most days refrain from training, so that he wouldn't be weary if the order to deliver a message came to him. However fate had conspired against him, this day when one of the unit captain came to him and passed down the orders from Lord Shingen himself. All unit be they Calvary, infantry or messenger like himself, had been given a quota of training to be complete. As the captain listed them off at first Shou wasn't phased, ten laps round the camp while in this weather was bad it wasn't something he felt was beyond him, but as the captain added the push-ups and sit-ups to the list of what was required Shou realised today was going to be a lot worse then he had hoped.
Following the captain outside, he saw the mass of troops of kinds separated out into units ready to start. Joining up with the captain unit, he prepared himself mentally for the physical torture that was ahead. Before the order to start running even came down, his clothes had already become soaked through, adding to the weight he was going to have to run with. The order came and the mass of men took off running. Some trying to impress went off as fast as they could while others, held back trying to conserve there energy. Shou try to pace himself somewhere between the two groups. Trying to get ahead of those holding back but not over exerting himself to early. The rain and wind however didn't agree, and the mud lined ground held him back and slowed him down. As the first lap around the camp there started to be a clear separation between those who were up to the task and those who were not. Finding himself closer to the back then he like Shou pushed himself to go faster. He knew that he had to. If he didn't he wouldn't have time to finish what in his mind was the much bigger task of completing the push-ups and sit-ups.
It was by the third lap, that he had joined the back end of the leading group. The bottom of his hakama almost solid with mud, being kicked up by other runner and as he sunk slightly with every pounding step. By the fifth lap the groups of runners had almost rejoined, as those ahead slowed and those behind started to put more into running. 3 hours in and at the seventh lap, some had fallen and not gotten up. While a few pushed on harder and started to make for themselves a lead. Refusing to be beating Shou joined them pushing everything he could into running, legs starting to burn from the work. Both sweat and rain water, freezing him as the wind whipped by as he ran. The next two laps was a conflict, those with him at the front pushing the harder to be in the lead, and so did he. It was a stupid thing to do. The last lap came, and people from behind pushed forward catching up and making serious ground, while Shou drained fell behind, having pushed himself to hard. Braking of to the side, to give himself space, Shou tried to catch up once more as the end of the last lap came. With a roar of pain, he threw his all into it, and once having finished let himself collapse to the ground.
While it had taken just over 4 hours to finish the laps, it was after just before 5 that Shou managed to get himself moving once again. Having put so much in to the running and his body demand the break. Forcing himself to roll over, his back covered in mud, and even his hair. He punch his hand down into the mud, until they reach solid ground below the mud, and kicked his toes down into the ground as well. Taking it slowly he started on the dreaded push-ups. His form was off, the cold was getting to him, and many times he found himself face down in the dirt, as his weak arms gave out under him. He felt as if he was more mud then man right now as he pushed himself up and onwards once again. Counting each push-up, he tone twisted the numbers to almost be a curse. And once the 150th came he gladly collapse into the ground once more.
More time was wasted as he recovered, but eventually he pushed himself up once more, and to his back once again. Regretting having allowed his front to be cover in mud as badly as his back. The mud put up resistance as he started on the press up. Around 10 sit-ups in a bellowing voice shouted out over the men. "You have 4 more hours, I said 4 more hours." Cursing under his breathe at the lack of time, he lost count of the sit-up he was on and much to his chagrin, started over. He wished he had been back at doing the laps some 8 hours ago, rather then these agonising sit-ups. However unlike the push-ups were his rhythm had constantly faltered, he found himself more suited to the sit-up and eventually found a sense of timing that drove him slowly but steadily to completion. Around him, some men had given in, while other had already finished and got up to leave, and deal with there muddy states.
As more and more people finished around him, Shou realised what time he may have gained finishing the laps he had waste recovering and on the push-ups. However he refused to give in like some. He would rather finish late then note at all and continued on. Finally the 200th sit-up came round, and he finished it and propped himself up rather then falling backward to the ground. "Done" He shouted out and looked at one of the over seer hopefully. The man gave him a congratulatory nod. Knowing he had finished in time and not caring just how close it was he fell backward, and rested for a few minute before dragging himself to his feet and limping away in pain.

The sun beat down on the plains, from the cloudless sky. It was incredibly hot and the fact Shou was running through the plains to the nearest village, meant he was sweating profusely. His horse had given a refused to move around a mile back, and Shou refused to force the thing on and ride it to death. Had his message been a urgent one he might have done so, but it wasn't and wasting a good horse on a unimportant message was pointless. People over the long haul could cover distance almost as fast as a horse especially on a day like this. Plus it was good to occasional stretch his legs, and stay in shape.
It was long before he could see the village his message was for off in the distance, the plains having turned in to rice fields filled with workers going about their day. It brought up old memories seeing farmers at work, it always did but he ignored them as best he could. Some of the farmers waved in recognition, he had been here before delivering, and it seems some recognised him. The field came to a end, as the more clustered building of the village started, and Shou slowed his pace. Walking into the local tea house, untying the small round letter game container from his waist. Pulling the lid off he slid out the curled up piece of paper and headed over to the owner. Passing over the message with a smile. Knowing that the owner would return with a package, Shou stepped back outside of the tea house. Taking a cursory glance over the village, as he waited, and then up at the sky sheltering his eye slightly with his hand. What he would give for a little rain to cool off before the trip home.
Suddenly a smash came from behind him, And Shou turned suddenly back towards the tea house. Pushing the door aside quickly he looked around the room. One hanging lamps had been torn of it fixture, and the start of small flames licked at the mat below. Rushing over Shou pulled up one of the the other mat, not yet on fire and smothered the flames. Before looking up to see the door out back open. Slowly creeping over. "Is anyone there? You've had a bit of a accident out here." Shou called out as he headed through the door. Wondering where the owner had gone off to.

YAMABARA SHOU
FACTION: Takeda AGE: 23 GENDER: Male HEIGHT: 5’11” WEIGHT: 134 lbs EYE COLOR: Black HAIR COLOR: Black
APPEARANCE
Reasonable tall compared to those around him, Shou still seems small around them. Due to a lean build, and a humble way of holding himself around others. He is normally seen in plainly coloured grab of blacks, browns or whites. While his clothes a traditional in style they are altered. His kimino and umanori hakama are tighter than normal. His hair tied back in to a small ponytail manages to still be messy, strand sticking out too short to be tied back the rest of his hair. Fresh face with high cheek bone, he still has youthful features. Under his clothes his back in peppered with a selection of small scars. PERSONALITY
Shou is a mix of two obsession feeding off of one another. Serving his lord and clan, and physical perfection to fulfil his role as messenger for him. While not working his trains constantly in order to be better. While obsessed with these things he does allow himself freedom to enjoy life. Druing breaks from delivering messengers and training he does his best to relax but often let himself become distracted by helping those in need if he can.
Not normally prone to violence, and by some seen as a coward, Shou is extremely protective of those he cares about. Having learn to fight some, since his family death he swore that if a loved one was ever in harm’s way again, rather than seeking help he would try and save themselves. This would be one of the only reasons he may fail to deliver a message promptly, as while he is extremely loyal to preforming his lord’s tasks. Once forced to fight however, he fight like a man possessed caring little for his own health. Letting loose of the anger and bitterness he feels for having failed his family out on whoever he may be fighting. Refusing to give in until he has too.
Shou is a caring individual, helping those he see who need help. Be it helping to carry something beyond them, or a kind word where he can. He longs for a peaceful world where everyone looks out for each other, and while he knows that such a dream is pretty much unattainable he hope for it regardless.
HISTORY Shou grew up in small farming village alongside his mother and 3 older brother, and most of his younger life was dull repetitive experience, trying to get by on the little that his family had. However one day at the age of 17, was that day he lost everything he had, and gained everything his has now. Seclude and mostly unprotected it was that day that raiders came to the village in order to steal what they could.
Unwilling to let everything be stolen away from them, Shou jumped one of the bandits and stole his horse trying to ride to the nearest city in order to beg for assistance from the local lords to deal with the bandits before the bleed his village dry. As he attempted to tide away though, some of the bandit fired arrows at him. He was struck multiply times in the back, but however rode onwards.
Eventually he reached the lord but was at deaths door once he did. Unable to pass on his message before falling to his wound. Wondering why he had come the lord instructed his physician to try and save Shou’s life that he may know what message he came with. Time passed and against all odds and down to the skill of the lord physician Shou survived.
Once he recovered Shou passed on his message and begged for the assistance of the Lord. The Lord, Matsudaira Kazuko, a vassal of the Takeda Clan agreed and sent men to Shou’s villageto liberate it from the bandit that had taken it over. However once the town was freed Shou discovered that his family had been killed as a threat to the rest of the village against fighting back, and as punishment for Shou having stolen from them. Enraged he cursed the other of the village for doing nothing and standing by as his family was killed. Returning to the city with liberating forces, he returned to Matsudaira Kazuko and swore to serve him and the Takeda clan in any way that he could.
Matsudaira Kazuko accepted his services and put Shou to work as a messenger and courier having been impressed by the young man ability to have ridden so far while injured. Shou threw his life into it. Training his body and learning to ride and fight, so that he could carry any message for his lord. So that never again may a tragedy befall someone because he failed.
