The forward push was unexpected for Takehiro, especially with the spear having been an obstacle for his opponent. So, when the spit came, even though he would turn his head and it would hit his cheek, he was caught off guard, stumbling back a little as Kamaitachi pushed. He would find his back slamming against the railing of the bridge, and the "murderer" making what seemed like a last ditch effort.
As Kamaitachi went for another strike, Takehiro would lean toward the man, making the striking distance for the sickle uncomfortable. In doing so as well, he would bring his right arm of Kamaitachi's striking arm, intent on wrapping his arm around the man's elbow. If successful, he would pull up at the join, causing Kamaitachi's arm to shoot straight and tense, likely resulting in dropping the sickle. On top of this, Takehiro would push the spear into the man's shoulder even further, aiming on tackling him to the floor and shoving the blade all the way through.

As it worked, Takehiro would have dug the spear through deeply, twisting it to insure maximum damage would be dealt to the man. As he reacted rather quickly, so too would the man hired to kill him; Takehiro's arm shot up in defense, his own forearm sent to collide with this Kamaitachi's to stop the advance of the sickle, though it would put the two in a sort of stalemate.
"Who was it you murdered? Small children?!"
The mercenary would laugh, raising his right foot and aiming to slam it into the man's thigh, which would, in turn, shoot his leg out from under him and cause him to fall. Were the strike successful, he would rip the spear clean from the man's shoulder, but keep the chain wrapped around it.

So, the man seemed very intent on returning the favor, despite Takehiro saying it was no big deal. He couldn't decline help, especially in return for something else, but he didn't feel like it was necessary, as he was only doing what he did because he could, not because he required anything. While it would be nice to have someone on the road with him for a good job, he didn't know if he could trust the man on the battlefield, and he didn't know if he knew how to truly handle his bow.
"If you insist, here's how it'll work: we both look for a big job, and whoever finds it, we let the other man know. Do the job well, no screw-ups, split the take 50/50. Then your "debt" - and it's really not a debt - is settled. If that's how you wanna do it."
He felt like that was reasonable. Two-man job, even split on the take. Chances were the guy might need the money more than himself, too, so he might even do a 70/30 split, himself being on the poorer end of the deal. Not that he'd mind.
"What do you say?"

"You must heavily underestimate the situation, my friend."
Takehiro leaned down, picking up another katana. The man's obvious bias toward Takeda craftsmanship made him curious - obviously, anything Takeda was better than this blade. But, this katana was brittle, the metal was impure. The blade and the handle were not centered... this was a local blade.
"Definitely not Tokugawa... but hey, spoils are spoils, coin is coin."
The mercenary smiled at the Takeda boy, taking yet another blade for himself. This totaled six, and could at least get the man a room for the night.
"That I am. Amakusa Takehiro." With that, he would make his way outside the tavern. "I don't believe I should be here, now. I've made a name as a Takeda supporter and, quite frankly, my allegiance lies with the man with the coin."

The way the man reacted was humorous, certainly. It was as if he'd never experienced a kind gesture in his life. That was amusing to consider, as well, the plethora of reactions the man could have had aside from that. Takehiro could have messed with him because of it, but he decided to leave it alone. Maybe the man wouldn't have understood the humor.
"Don't even worry about it." Takehiro shook his head, smiling. "If I wanted something, I would've made you an offer before I gave you the money." He nodded, taking the cup and flipping it in his hand, and setting it on the table again.
"Amakusa Takehiro."
Now the name thing couldn't have been an issue. And if the man wanted to do some work with Takehiro, that would be up to him.

"From the look of you, they should've hired a woman."
Takehiro grinned devilishly as the man was taunted into action. As the sickle went into the air, the spear left Takehiro's shoulder, and he would hold it vertically in front of him, pushing it against the chain as the sickle would come his way. This would cause the sickle to serve as a weight, and wrap around the spear. From there, Takehiro would place one hand against the chain and pull, intent on catching the man off balance and pulling him toward the mercenary.
If the pull worked, Takehiro would charge forward and thrust the spear at his target, aiming to run it through the man's shoulder.

Upon the filling of his cup, Takehiro immediately shot the drink down his throat in a singe gulp once more, audibly grunting a second time. It was good, it was convenient, and he needed something to lubricate his throat. The cup once again fell against the table, and this time, the mercenary would let it sit there. His attention was still drawn to the man before him.
"That so? Heh, I hear ya."
The mercenary pulled out a small bag of coins and slid it across the table, to the other man. "For the road, then, if times are tough." He may have expected Takehiro to ask for something in return, but he didn't. It was a friendly gesture, to which he paid no second thought. He'd had his fair share of good takes in the past month, and, had he wanted, he could build a good home and not have to work for the next two months. But, that wasn't his life.
"I just got out of three good jobs, pretty good haul. Currently looking at options for my next take, but I haven't run into much lately."

While the other man spoke trash, Takehiro reached down to take a bunch of the katanas, putting them back into their scabbards and tying them to his belt. The craftsmanship was poor, but he knew he could get at least a gold piece per blade, especially with all of these daimyos searching for weapons as often as they were. Get enough pieces of crap together, and you've actually got some decent reward out of it! Worst-case, he could probably smelt the blades back down and make more money off the iron than he would from the swords.
"Don't stoke the flames, Takeda boy. This village is small, word will spread quickly. You gonna be fine with the people tearing themselves apart because you couldn't hold your tongue?"
He stood to his feet, five katanas tied to his waist, and spear in hand. He wasn't trying to give a lecture, he was just posing a moral question.

Takehiro had taken a job to protect a daimyo's men, and they all seemed to be physically incapable of performing the tasks required of them. This made their protection even more difficult, as they all basically seemed like children in a Samurai's attire. Unfortunately, they were all adults, making them that much more pitiful. The daimyo, seeing this, decided he would put all of his men - mercenaries included - to a test. They had twelve hours to complete a fitness exercise, which involved running, push-ups, and sit-ups, all in stormy weather. Takehiro, along with the other mercenaries, were expected to lead the exercises, giving the daimyo's men something to strive for.
All of the men - mercenaries and soldiers alike - were lined up outside the camp, in a giant conglomerate of men. Many of the men had kept their armor on, for fear of catching cold in this weather. Takehiro, however, only adorned his hakama, to cover his legs. He would run through this barefoot, as a sort of challenge to himself.
As soon as the daimyo signaled, all of the men took off, running. The daimyo's men started off in a sprint, leaving the mercenaries behind from the start. Takehiro, along with the other men he worked with, paced themselves, starting off with a jog. Because of this, as the laps went on, the daimyo's men fell further and further behind the mercenaries, who would continue with relative ease. The laps would take a toll on them, however, causing their muscles to cramp up, especially given the harsh cold, and the rain pouring down on them.
Takehiro himself pushed through the laps as best he could, always at the lead. He was tired, his muscles ached, he could hardly see from his hair in his eyes, and his feet were beginning to numb, but he continued to push through the pain. In a matter of hours, he'd successfully finished each of the laps, being the first to make it back into the camp, and the first to begin the push-up test.
His body almost felt limp as he skidded to a halt, falling to his hands and knees. He went straight into the push-ups, only managing ten before his body began to burn horribly. He tried to push through the next ten, but only managed five before his arms collapsed under him, his face falling into the mud. He was already worn out from the laps. So, he decided he would spend a moment resting between each increment of fifteen push-ups, allowing his body to recover. With this method, he managed to complete the push-ups in a total of an hour-and-a-half, allowing himself ample recovery time.
By the time he'd finished the push-ups, most of the daimyo's men had only begun, so he took the time they'd done their push-ups to rest his muscles. This way, he could breeze through the sit-ups.
Two hours of rest would go by, and the mercenary would begin the sit-ups, and his body had almost fully recovered. This allowed him to push through increments of fifty before he felt his stomach tense up, and he'd successfully completed them within thirty minutes.
Boy, was he going to feel this tomorrow.

The mercenary eyed the man for a moment, cocking a brow. It seemed he lacked the capability to respond, or make small talk. That, or he was just exceedingly nervous, and couldn't handle communication with another being. But, by the look of him, he was a mercenary. How could you be successful in a field where you have to murder people, but you can't make small talk?
A small chuckle escaped Takehiro's lips at the very simple response the man gave, and his hand reached for the empty cup of Sake. This was more due to the awkward nature of the conversation, and giving him something to do rather than just sit there. The empty cup made its way to his lips, and a few drops of the liquid - whatever was left - fell to his tongue, though there wasn't enough to swallow.
"Yes, indeed, the sake is quite delicious."
He continued to observe the quite, reserved man, interested, though not entirely sure why.
"You take any good jobs here, recently?"
More small talk.

Takehiro smirked as the man stood to his feet. He was dirty, he was foul, and yet he still demanded respect, as though it could be given to a drunken murderer. He spit insults in quick succession, as if to deter or taunt the warrior before him, but it would not aid him. His words had no affect on the mercenary.
"I am the man who's been hired to kill you."
The spear was pulled back, falling atop Takehiro's shoulder, as if he did not deem the man before him a threat. His body was relaxed, his demeanor taunting. He'd found the monster the folk of the country spoke of, and what he saw was, admittedly, disappointing. Hopefully he'd redeem himself through combat.
"I'll tell you what - you put up a good fight, I won't kill you."
His eyes never left those sickles.

Takehiro immediately rushed toward the new villager who burst from the hut. He attempted to meet the man's charge, catching his strikes with his spear. If successful, he would deflect the man's blow and strike him in the stomach with the butt-end of his spear. As a follow-up strike, he would rotate the spear, bringing his arms around in a circle and striking the blade of the spear into the man's forehead.

Tiredly, the mercenary downed his cup of Sake in a single gulp. He grunted a little, putting his cup back onto the table and sliding it toward the center of the table. He took a moment to collect himself, looking around the inn, and realizing there was only one other (wo)man at the table. He seemed pre-occupied with whatever he was doing, and also seemed scared of conversation. Horribly reserved... in this day and age? And he had a bow with him, meaning he was... either he was with a faction, or he was a merc.
"Hard to find good work these days, don't you think?"
Takehiro offered a kind smile to the man, trying to make him feel a little more comfortable. That, and he didn't feel entirely checked out yet, so he might as well make conversation, right?
"At least, work that doesn't involve horrid shit."

Rumor had been circulating the countryside of a man in green who'd murdered countless Samurai left and right, with his trademark sickles. The monster's reputation only grew as the days passed, many bringing him up in conversation, seeing as he was a current trend. Many spoke of him fearfully, weak-willed Samurai bringing up how they did not wish to do battle with the man, others stating they wanted to find him and break him to prove their might. Then there was Takehiro who was interested in the man, and who'd taken up a contract to eliminate him.
Takehiro found himself wandering the country, this time happening upon a forest, just another one of many locations he'd be tearing apart to find his target. He was less interested in the actual contract, and more in the fact that something about the guy seemed familiar. How often did you find people who used sickles as weapons? Last he'd checked, the people who were known to we slain.
In his travels, Takehiro finally happened upon a bridge in the forest. It was nothing particularly interesting itself, no. But what was interesting was what he would find on it; he proceeding along the bridge to find a dirty man, all in green, with sickles at his sides, moping about something. He didn't need to know what, but he did know this had to be the man. This sickles. The green. The stains on his weapons. No doubt about it.
"I've finally found you, Kamaitachi."
The mercenary raised his spear, pointing it at the man on the bridge. He was still a good few feet away, but he was sure the challenge was issued clearly.

Takehiro would have been a part of one of the groups who'd veered off to the flanks of the village. He would make his way through rather easily, as all the main forces were currently pre-occupied. The other bandits would begin their pillaging, and he would serve as their guard, keeping watch, and keeping them safe.
He had to admit, this wasn't entirely sitting well with him, but a job is a job, and apparently there was good reason for this. He'd done worse before, though, so it wouldn't keep him from sleeping well, that was for sure.

Takehiro drew his spear from the ground behind him and struck the men in front of him with it's butt-end, striking one of the two in the sternum twice in quick succession. He doubled around, pivoting on his heel and lowering his head, ducking under a swing from the last man's Katana, and he sent a solid left hook for the man's chin, causing him to stumble backward. For good measure, Takehiro jabbed the spear's backside into the man's stomach, causing him to fall to the ground in pain.
"Geez, you guys are a pain! No wonder people love the Takeda so much - Tokugawa supporters are dicks."
He spat on the ground next to the floored guys, and turned to see if his Takeda friend needed any help.

[OoC: Changing the scenario just a little to fit Takehiro's situation, since he serves under no banner.]
A group of prospective recruiters under every banner had entered this large town, in which Takehiro had spent his recent days resting. They had sent out a call, requesting all able-bodied mercenaries meet at the center of the town. It seemed they were setting up some sort of competition to sort out the most skilled mercenaries, and each recruiter was willing to pay good money for some temporary alliances... this was something Takehiro couldn't turn down.
"All men who wish to be recruited must take part in this tournament, of sorts. The men who last the longest amount of bouts will be considered worth the largest sum on gold. All who will answer this call, step forward. And, no weapons."
Takehiro was the first of the mercs to step forward and into a ring made only of bystanders. He had left his spear behind, as per request. Only a moment would pass by before another man stepped into the ring, who was slightly taller, and much bulkier than himself. "Well, big guy, may the best man win!"
The large man rushed Takehiro, looking to take hold of his arms and knee him in the stomach. The mercenary responded by ducking under the large man's hands, and falling to the side. His leg shot out, kicking the large man's other leg out from under him, knocking him onto his back. From there, Takehiro placed a knee to the man's side and took his wrist, pulling his arm out as much as he could, as well as twisting it. The man's wrist popped out of place, and Takehiro let him go.
That was one man down.
The large man scuttled away, whimpering at his injured wrist, and another man hopped in in his place. This new opponent was smaller, and he looked much more nimble. He charged Takehiro, feigning a right hook. Promptly, he through his weight to the left, cartwheeling around Takehiro and kicking him twice in the face, causing the mercenary to stumble backward a bit.
"Alright, you monkey fuck, show me what you got."
The man attempted the same tactic, and as he went for the cartwheel, Takehiro caught his legs, leaving him in a handstand. The man's face was met with a very forceful punt from Takehiro's foot, causing the man to soar forward as his legs were released, gravity adding some oomph and slamming him on the ground. While his opponent was floored, Takehiro raised his leg and sent it hammering into the man's spine. He let out a whimper, and crawled out of the ring.
Two men down, baby.
A third man entered the ring, of similar stature to Takehiro. The men even held themselves in a similar manner. Unlike the previous two men, he would not strike first. Takehiro would, in turn, step forward, his right foot behind his left, and sent a left power kick to the man's sternum. He caught the foot, aiming to twist Takehiro's ankle and offset his balance. However, the mercenary used this to his advantage, kicking of the ground with his free foot and wrapping it around the man's head, bringing him to the ground in a triangle choke. The man fought for a moment, but Takehiro kept him there until he was unconscious, promptly rolling back once the man stopped wiggling.
Three down? Boo yah.
Another three men would approach the ring, only to be knocked out by the merc who seemed to be building a very good reputation for himself with these recruiters. His constant victories even seemed to deter the other mercenaries assembled from continued to fight. Triumphant yet bruised, Takehiro took the victory as the mercenary with the most value in the town.
Awww yeah.

After the incident at the Tokugawa-Takeda village, Takehiro had decide to stray as far from those territories as possible, causing him to journey westward. Naturally, given the distance, the journey had taken a few days as the mercenary made his way through the entirety of Oda territory. He made stops every now and again, but, without a horse, traveling was difficult.
A long period of travel and inevitable fatigue led Takehiro to Ryokan, where he opted to stay a moment and recuperate. An inn at a crossroads was heavily convenient, though such a location was bound to be crowded. This was unfortunate, because the last thing a tired man wanted to deal with was a bunch of rowdy people. But, the information he could learn would indeed be nice.
Making his way inside, Takehiro went over to the bar. He pulled out several gold coins and slid them across the counter. "Sake, please. And a room for the night." The woman at the counter simply nodded, taking the coins and handing Takehiro his drink. "Thanks, Miss." He bowed his head, then made his way to a table to sit down and rest. He set his spear at his side, and observed his surroundings.

[OoC: Siding with the bandits.]
Takehiro is a mercenary, so he goes where the pay is good. These bandits were about to launch a raid on a small village, and they needed a bit of extra muscle, so here he was, charging alongside them. Normally, he wouldn't really support something like this, but he was informed the men of this village had wronged the bandits. And, well... Karma's a bitch.

"You... want me... to shoot at your men? And you're going to pay me for this?" "Do not worry, they will be protected. This is to better their reflexes, you see." "And if I hurt someone?" "They will be fine. I'm only paying you to shoot." "Alright, you got it, old man."
This Daimyo had 20 of his men lined up, 100 yards away, and he handed Takehiro a bow and ordered him to shoot at them. He was getting paid for each guy who didn't parry the arrow, and as these guys seemed like newbies, it seemed his chances of a good haul from this were high. He set a standard for himself, and decided he would let no more than five men parry the arrows, if he wanted to eat well for the next few days.
Takehiro nocked an arrow and pulled it tightly, aiming down the range. The first man, the one in the center, is the one he took aim at. He slowly exhaled, releasing the arrow as he did so. It soared across the plain, but was split in two as the target slashed through it, effectively parrying it. That man's job done, he stepped away from the line.
You can do better. Come on. Big haul, big haul.
He sighed, nocking another arrow, firing it at the next man down the range. He, too, split the arrow into pieces as he effectively parried it. He stepped back from the line as well, leaving Takehiro grumbling under his breath. 2/20 shots fired, and they were effectively parried. It rattled his nerves a little, but he continued the job: yet another arrow was nocked, and, slowly, he centered himself. After a deep breath, he released the arrow to his third target. This arrow found itself in the man's padded shoulder armor, and his sword sliced through only the wind. The man failed, and he left the line.
3/20 shots fired, and so far only one was giving the man a bonus.
Feeling lucky, Takehiro took his time with each of the shots. One by one, the men failed to parry, and one by one, they all served to increase Takehiro's bonus. By the end of this, all 20 arrows had been fired, and only two of the men successfully parried them. 'twas a shame to the Daimyo, but Takehiro could already feel his pockets growing.
"One more task, Mercenary." "You name it." "I want them to be able to avoid arrow fire from the side, when charging in battle. Ten men will be running in front of you - still padded. You get a bonus for each one you take down." "Oh, I like this. You got it."
The men were all lined up perpendicular to the mercenary, and he simply grinned. Another chance to earn some easy Yen. He set another standard for himself, limiting the men he'd miss two only two.
The first man started with a mad dash, and Takehiro quickly nocked his arrow, following the man for a moment. He released the arrow, and it soared into the man's leg, causing him to crash to the ground. Immediately after, the next man would take off, and the same course of events would follow.
At the end of this event, only one of the ten men made it all the way across the plain without being shot, so Takehiro's take was increased even further. He loved his line of work, sometimes.

"They've got us pinned down!" "What are we gonna do?!" "They took out half our guys -"
"Alright, shut the hell up for a second!"
Takehiro's unit company had been doing a mock battle with another company, and his unit was being paid to expose all the flaws they could in the other company's form. A daimyo had hired the mercenaries as a means of giving his men a taste of battle against men they did not know the technique of, and there was much to be learned from fighting new opponents! Of course, the company of mercenaries was only to be paid of they win, and right now, Takehiro's company was losing. Bad.
"Here's what we're going to do," he spoke as quietly as he could, though he had to be sort of loud, to account for the arrow fire raining against their cover. "Two of you are going to remain here. The other eight of us, we'll break off into two groups, go around through the brush and the trees, and flank 'em on either side. The two who stay, your job is to keep the fire on you, but you keep your head down while you do it. Once we're in position, the group with me will rain fire down on these guys from one of their blind spots. Then they're going to focus on us, and here's where the other group comes in - when they're focused on us and the other two guys, you're going to get their last blind spot. If all goes well, they'll be focused on my group, and the other group of four, leaving the two who stay behind the chance to cover ground and get the stragglers. Are we clear on this?"
The men looked to each other, worried. If they lost any more men, they lost their pay check. But this was their best bet. Reluctantly, three of the men would group up with Takehiro, and another four would group up together. Two men stayed behind at the cover, throwing rocks and launching arrows overhead, to keep the enemy focused.
"Alright, we'll head down their left flank, you guys take their right. Wait until they're focused on us before you fire. Let's go."
Bow in hand, Takehiro's small group would make their way around the battlefield, moving in an arc. They stayed in the cover of the trees and the bushes, moving as quickly but quietly as they could. They would find a good amount of cover for four men, and they quickly set up behind it. They each nocked their arrows, and just as the enemy released theirs, Takehiro's group did as well. One wave of arrows had taken out four of the twenty men, and Takehiro's men quickly hid behind cover after that first assault.
Already down to sixteen.
As the group focused fire on Takehiro's men, the other band of mercenaries had launched a small volley of arrows into the group, taking out another four, easily. The men were confused, disoriented, and no longer focused attacks on the other group of two.
Down to twelve.
The Daimyo's men would focus fire on the two flanking groups, leaving the two men who'd stayed behind the opportunity to cover ground. They rushed across the battlefield, drawing their bokken, and, once in proximity, they struck down the confused men, each effectively felling two before the men could comprehend what was going on.
Now, the tides of battle were shifted from twenty to ten, to ten to eight.
Takehiro's group arose from cover, bows drawn and arrows nocked, all eight aimed at the Daimyo's men. The two mercenaries also had their bokken drawn, at the necks of two of the soldiers. Reluctantly, the soldiers put their bows down, surrendering.
"I gotta say, I'd make one badass tactician."
