The man would place Brandt's weapon before him, and explain to him that he had tended yo his wounds. Brandt would could barely remember but he was pretty sure he had been pin cushioned before he passed out. However the gods had been watching over him clearly. Otherwise he would never had survived, right?
The northlander wasn't exactly sure if he trusted the man completely, but if he wanted him dead he would have killed him already. The cloaked male had introduced himself as 'The Raging Inferno', but Brandt knew that was probably a nickname.
"Thank you for saving me.. I fear I might have.. bled out otherwise."
The nord would thank the gods that not a single arrow hit any vital location. But his sense of smell punched him in his nose and his mind slipped from his injuries to his stomach. He had already been starving before. Now more so than ever.
"I do not mind. Were it not for you, those rabble would have made off with it.. I will gladly give you a share."

Brandt hadn't actually realized just how tired he actually was until Takehiro had mentioned it. Thus far the day had been grueling. The Nord had the fight of his life, even if he had only barely managed to last. On top of it he had been moving with so much weight upon his lower half that his legs were just barely shy of giving out. Of course he still did his best to stand strong.
"That might be best. I need to stick around anyways.. But I will not stay for free. If I must, I will help around the Inn.."
The last thing Brandt wanted to come off as, was a freeloader or beggar. As he saw it, he got a sword that probably would have cost a fortune otherwise. He did not have it in him to take anything else for free. Brandt had always worked for whatever he got and that wasn't about to change now.

Brandt heard the rush of fire, but at first he simply thought his hearing was distorted and it had been the fire beside him. However he would muster the energy to open his eyes, catching sight of a blur of a man dispatching his assailants with fire and fury. However he hadn't the energy to muster words, nor could he stay conscious any longer. Unaware of how much time had passed, or exactly what had taken place, the Nord startled awake unsure of his surroundings. Wincing from the pain, the giant's memory was as fuzzy as his eye sight. However as his vision began to clear, those pale green hues would settle upon the cloaked form in front of him.
Brandt would instinctively feel around for his sword, but find nothing. He knew not whether this person was friend or foe and it made him uncomfortable to be without his blade. At first he would not speak as he regained his wits. Soon enough though, that damaged voice of his would sound out.
"Who.. Ahh-Are you..?"

This time it looked as if he had actually felt the attack, at least more so than his previous. Brandt knew for sure that this weapon would help to set him apart from many. It was decided then that he would work to master the art of fighting with it. The tool of combat would help to forge him into a warrior closer to Takehiro's level.
"I believe so, my friend.. I will not let it's might go to waste."
Brandt still found it a little difficult to see that he had met and befriended such a powerful, kind man. He certainly had no obligation to help the northerner, but it would seem he was sharing quite a bit with him here. The nord would be forever grateful.
"My thoughts? Well.. I feel as if the gods brought me here for some reason. I know not yet what that is.. But I feel as if meeting you was part of it."
The nord would continue to look his blade over briefly before he would strap the Zanbato to his back. What he said, he felt was the truth. The gods had everything planned and what would become of Brandt was in their hands.
"I believe I have a role to play here.. And I was very fortunate to find you."

"It certainly is a blade of legend. I think I may grow quite fond of it.."
The giant would lift the blade once again, however this time he felt more confident wielding it. It surely was a mighty blade and Brandt would make sure he was truly worthy of using it. Finding his center, Brandt would sway the blade slightly to the left and right as his feet settling into a wider stance.
The blade would sway left once more, before it shot back right and then up and over. The giant would aim the blade to connect with Takehiro's glaive once again. But this time as his new sword arched downward Brandt would twist the handle and let the explosive force take action.
Now that he figured out its special feature, Brandt was sure the blow would be far stronger this time

Brandt would heed his advice, resting the blade against his body as he crouched down to take the weights off. Much to his comfort, Brandt felt as if he had been set free to move naturally again. However even he himself noticed the slight difference after he had taken then off.
The giant would then stand again, holding the blade in front of him to inspect it. Something seemed odd about the back side of the blade, but he had initially attributed it to fancy craftsmanship. However he would notice the slightest wiggle in the handle.
Brandt would extend the blade in front of him as he inspected the handle closer. The Nord would twist it, half expecting to break the handle from the sword. Instead he heard an explosion of sorts, and his sword shot uncontrollably to the ground, driving the blade a mere inch or two from the toes of his right foot.
"GREAT ODIN'S BEARD! W-WHAT THE HELL!?"
Brandt's reaction was not one of hatred for thw weapon. It was due to the fact that he was not expecting such a thing to happen. He nearly chopped his foot! Even worse, the nord almost soiled himself in the process.

Brandt had watched carefully, listened attentively and followed suit with the rest of the men when they roared out and banged upon their chests. In a way he felt a little big of nostalgia. Almost as if he and his former Brethren were preparing to head into the raid season.
Takehiro certainly could carry his words. Not only was he good in the field, it was clear he knew how to command a force. Brandt shouldn't have been surprised though. There was a lot the man could do that made it seen as if the gods favored him well and had a special destiny in mind.
Soon enough though, Toshi would bark his instructions as Brandt began stretching in preparation. Those pale green eyes would look toward the end, his mind focusing upon his goal. Nothing would stop him this day, or any foe that matter.
Brandt would wait for the signal and begin his run. The giants agility had certainly improved as of late. There was a good chance he might even outrun some of the others. The current conditions on his first run weren't all that difficult for the nord. His body was accustomed to crappy, cold weather. He would make it to the other side, his clothes soaked from sweat and moisture alike. Over all though, the giant would still be good to go. Turning back around, he would start the trek back to where he came from.
It was there that he began to have a much harder time. Brandt's pace dropping considerably as he pushed him way forward. A hot environment was something he wasn't so familiar with. Brandt had raided in hotter locations a few times. But nothing like this.
The viking could feel his throat drying up, the dry air running down his throat only making it harder to fight off coughing. Brandt could feel the strain of dehydration throughout his body as well. Muscle cramps and tightening were slowing the hulking mass down, but eventually he would reach start again. Wheezing for air, the giant would take a knee to catch his bearings. That certainly was a little slice of the underworld.

Brandt watched as his new friend pulled out his glaive. He couldn't help but admire that weapon as well, even if he wasn't familiar with it. He had seen Halbards before, but it was not quite the same thing. He would hold out his weapon and instruct Brandt to strike it with his new Zanbato.
"If you insist.."
Grasping the sword with both hands, the northlander would lift the blade upward, extending as far as he could before he would force his blade down with all the strength he could muster. It was certainly more difficult to keep tabs on his footwork with the weights on.
Brandt wasn't sure what was expected to be the outcome of his strike. But he believed Takehiro must of had a reason for him to test it out.

It had been quite the day for the nord. What started out as an early day of adventuring had lasted all the daylight. He was a few miles from the nearest village, and upon his right shoulder he carried a large buck. Brandt had been lucky enough to stumble upon it down wind of the animal while it drank from a river.
The giant had taken it down with a single decisive bolt from his gauntlet crossbow, however he had already been on his way back to the village. He had figured when he got closer he would work on gutting and skinning it before he carved up the meat.
Having set up a small campsite to rest, the viking had been deep in thought as he prepared to start work on the game he had scored. It was then, out of no where that the giant felt a sharp stinging pain, followed by two more. Brandt let loose a startled roar but as he tried to pick himself up he felt something slam against the side of his head.
Completely taken off-guard, Brandt found his vision fading it and out as he landed upon the ground on his right side. Through approaching blackness, Brandt glanced down to see three arrow heads sticking out of him. One near his shoulder, one near his left side ribcage and one in the thick of his left thigh.
Brandt could only be furious with himself as he faded into unconsciousness. While everything blackened, the crackling sound of fire stayed jn his ears, along with a few voices belonging to those who sprung the ambush.
"Ya think we should finish him off?"
"Naaah. Look at the giant man.. He'll bleed out soon enough."
"Yeaah. You probably cracked his skull with that clubbin'"
"And would you look at that sword! I call it!"
"Mate, none of us could even pick that up! Just grab whatever else he has on him, and don't forget the buck! Thats dinner for the night!"
Brandt would only hope that the gods were watching him. That they would send someone to save him before it was too late. The viking could not die like this if he ever hoped to gain entrance to Valhalla.

Brandt had managed to clear the crowd near his 'boss' a bit quicker then he had originally thought he would. Again hearing the males plea about his stuff, Brandt would turn to face the other direction once again. Frustration set in when he saw the number of people running with crates.
"You fools are toying with the wrong man! I WILL TEAR YOU ALL LIMB FROM LIMB!"
Unleashing angered roar, the giant would bull rush toward the back end of the cart and once he cleared it completely, those massive arms would ripple as he heaved his massive sword low, throwing it toward the escaping crowd. His goal was for it to act like a fan and cut as many legs off as he could before the sword skidded to a halt on the surface of the earth.

After some time, Takehiro had asked him to follow him back toward the smithy. He wasn't sure exactly how much time had passed, but he was as sore as ever. He still struggled to move in the weights, but Brandt did not let it discourage him. It would take time to master moving with them.
Takehiro's blacksmith would present to him a mighty sword. Brandt was surprised to see it wasn't too far from what he had previously, though the craftsmanship was far beyond that of it's predecessor. Thumping loudly with each step, the Nord would grab ahold of his new Zanbanto, carefully admiring it.
"Your smith certainly has a knack for this..It is a piece of artwork."
Brandt wasn't intending to enlarge the man's ego, but to him it was the truth. Brandt found more beauty in a good weapon than in that of a painting or poem. He would inspect nearly every inch of it, even giving a few contained swings, careful not to hit anyone or anything.
"..If I could mate with it, I would.."
A joke, al-beit a horrible one. And the tone je said it probably made it seem as if he was serious. Maybe even part of him was.

(OOC: Since Brandt is a merc, this is written as him by himself.)
Today would not be a day of rest for the northerner. Brandt had a training regiment in mind and his day was cleared of all tasks so that he could get this work out in. After all, he needed to be in the best shape possible to keep up with Takehiro.
The weather did not favor him this day, but he would not allow it to be a deterrent. The man had a goal and he wasn't going to quit this day until he had accomplished it. Shirtless, the man begun by stretching. A man him size really needed to limber up in preparation for this type of thing.
Brandt would begin this day with a run. The medium sized village he currently held up in would be a good marker for him. Pacing himself the giant would begin his trek around the village. Once, twice and so on he went around and around the village. By the time he had finished his run, the Nord's body was glistening with sweat.
Having paced himself though, he wouldn't be too tired from the run. His lungs were good and had adjusted during the run to pace he set for himself. But Brandt was far from finished. It was time to begin the core of his work out now that the cardio was finished.
Dropping down on his knees before he lowered himself down into position, Brandt would place his hands down into the muddy earth and begin his grueling physical challenge. 150 push ups was no easy feat when you were pushing up nearly 300 pounds.
However he would soldier through it, stopping every 50 to simply keep himself straight on his hands. The mud was making it difficult to prevent sliding as he neared the end, but he would manage to finish as his arms started to feel the burn.
Brandt would give himself a few moments to recover. He felt incredibly warm, even though the rain was cold. And he could feel his blood flowing within his whole body. The rest felt nice, but he knew there would be time for leisure afterwards. Rolling over, the mucky Nord would get into his next position.
200 sit-ups was the name of the game. Luckily for Brandt, he felt the sit-ups would be a little easier. The giant had a strong core, probably from all the years of walking and maneuvering with a giant sword on his back.
While it would still take time, the giant would count his reps as he stared up toward the dark clouds still letting loose their tears. With each drop of his body Brandt took a breath, and with each push up into sitting position he would let it go. A solid breathing technique was quite efficient.
Soon enough the Northerner realized that he was approaching the end of his reps. Using the last of his energy he would power through the rest of his sit-ups before he groaned and brought himself to his feet. Brandt was sore, but in the end it would only help. His stomach would growl like a starving beast and the viking took that as his que to head home. He was in desperate need of food and a wash.
It had been a long day. The giant estimated he had been at it for a solid five hours. That was surely long enough. Heading back toward his rented room, Brandt couldn't help but feel this had served to help him grow in strength, even if it felt like a tree fell on him..

The life of a warrior was a tough one. Brandt's even more so. In the recent days the Nord had put his body through quite the regiment and he could surely feel the aches of hardship stabbing at him through it's entirety. The forehead wounds he had suffered in his friendly duel with the Demon of Totomi were finally healing up. The bandage was no longer needed, but the gashes were still noticeable.
Tonight he dressed light. His armor lay at his in his rented room, along with his leg protection. He was in no mood to carry anything more then he had to. Having 600 pound weights strapped to your ankles while moving around was no easy feet and his legs could still feel the effects without them on. Instead he wore a simple tan tunic, the strings meant to tie near the neck hung loose. A pair of simple dark brown trousers were strapped to his waist by a large black leather belt and upon Brandt's back was his new Zanbato that Takehiro had given him.
Having made his way toward the tavern, Brandt was in need of some healing. Mead would do the deed, he always thought, so he had set off with the goal of drinking himself into a coma til the morn' came. The giant hulk of a man would duck his head slightly as he made his way inside. He too ignored the looks of other. His pale green hues settling upon the barstead.
Brandt approached it, paying little attention to the female he sat down next to, apart from having noticed the tattoo running down her back. He wouldn't think on it much though, as those large elbows hit the bar top and be brought the rest of his battle-torn arms down to tap upon the surface.
"Give me your best.. Better use one of those big jugs.."
The nord's voice was gruff, the vocal damage done long ago certainly was something that had stuck with him and would never heal. It was clear by the looks of the man a few inches shy of seven feet, that he had experienced more battle than most. Even his face contained the evidence. The viking would quietly wait for the bartenders return.

General summary of how GANTZ works:
A pair of high school students, Kei Kurono and Masaru Kato, are hit by a subway train in an attempt to save the life of a drunk homeless man who had fallen onto the tracks. Following their deaths, Kurono and Kato find themselves transported to the interior of an unfurnished Tokyo apartment. The pair soon realize others are present and find that they are not able to leave the apartment. At one end of the room there is a large black sphere known as "Gantz".
After some time in the room, the Gantz sphere opens up, revealing a bald naked man with a breathing mask and wires attached to his head, with three racks protruding from it, that offer various items for them to use. These include the custom fitting black suits Gantz made for each of them, giving them super-human strength, speed, stamina and relative invincibility, a controller which acts as a radar and stealth unit, and three types of weapons.
When the Gantz sphere opens, green text appears on its surface, informing those present that their "lives have ended and now belong to him". A picture and brief information is shown of some of the Gantz' targets; Gantz orders them to go and kill them. All but one target shown thus far have been aliens living on Earth, which take on a wide variety of forms. After a period of time which varies between missions, everyone except Gantz is transported to the location of the mission. Those sent cannot return from the mission until all enemies have been killed, or the time limit has run out. If they survive a successful mission, each individual is awarded points for the aliens they have killed. Once a participant has scored 100 points, a "100 point menu" will appear. The menu offers three options:
Option 1:
the participant can return to their normal life, never having to be summoned by Gantz again. As a price, their memories of Gantz and the missions will be erased.
Option 2:
the participant obtains a unique and extremely-powerful weapon.
Option 3:
the participant can revive someone who has died during a mission from Gantz' memory.
After a mission has been completed, and points have been tallied up, the participants are then allowed to leave, and live their lives as they see fit until Gantz summons them back again for their next mission.
GANTZ Amv:
The manga is also available online many places.
Now I may change things, add more to the points menu. Allow weapon/suit customization as well.
I will be setting up a test board and wanted to see the interest. It would be something fresh to try and I think I could run some interesting missions. I will probably be inviting around five people to try it out.

Brandt could feel it. There was something in the air. The energies of battle were beginning to flow freely within the Nord as he stood awaiting the clash ahead. Having stayed with Oda's main force, the giant was preparing to take an army head on.
Resting upon one knee, his newly acquired Zanbato dug into the earth as those pale green hues hid behind their lids. Resting his forehead against the pommel as he prayed to the gods.
"Odin, grant me your strength, wisdom and courage.. I shall fear no army of man, for all men bleed and die. However my path has not reached an end. I shall not see my way into Valhalla this day.."
His gruff voice barely speaking above a whisper. Brandt would lift his chin upon the bottom of his blade, cheek against the handle as he opened his eyes. The nord would wait patiently, for The Sword of The House Of Strength would lay waste this day.

Damn it!
Brandt realized that the likely hood he would actually be able to save both the cargo and the man moving it. So it would ultimately be up to him to choose what to do. And the nord would take it upon himself to choose the driver instead of the cargo.
Rushing forward, the giant would drop low to scoop up his sword and then head toward the front of the cart. Brandt would aim to slam his shoulder into the closest one in the group to knock him into the others. The giant would then pull his sword across in a horizontal slash to cleave into the twelve.

"Ahh. Okay. I'm still.. learning your terminology."
While Brandt's Japanese had vastly improved since he set foot, he was still learning the language. He liked to believe he was alright when it came to picking up on language. This certainly wasn't the first he learned throughout his travels.
The northerner's mind would return to the object at hand though. This zanbato interested him to say the least. He certainly wasn't about to turn him down for no good reason. The upgrade would be welcome.
"If it is what you say, that sounds good to me.. I'm rather fond of most weapons.. Apart from those damn firesticks.."
Flintlock pistols and such, he was not so happy with. They were loud, and required far less skill in the giants eyes to use. And they hurt when they shot you.

Brandt would loose his grip upon his sword handle, and then receive the pummel strike to the chest. Brandt would loose his breath briefly, but not his wits. His hands already held toward the sky from his previous strike, Brandt's right hand would extend slightly and he would activate his gauntlet as it approached the hammer head.
If it worked like he planned, Brandts gauntlet hand would tug up and away to try and rid the other giant of his own weapon. If it worked he would shoot the hammer away just as he had the arrows before. His left hand would shoot for his face, trying to grasp it with his thumb pressed into his enemy's right eye socket.
So long as thongs went they way he planned his right hand would then attempt to shoot an arrow into his face at point blank.

Casting a quick glance behind him, the giant would snarl was he caught sight of the two men grabbing crates. Directing his arm toward them he would fire off a burst of five bolts in their direction in hopes of hitting them. He wouldn't focus on them however, because he had a much large problem in front of him.
Brandt didn't like to be with hammers. He had dealt with many in the past. Axes and hammers were favored among his northern brethren. As the larger man swung, Brandt would pull his upper half backwards as the hammer approached.
The nord would then snap his right leg out to kick him in the stomach as his opponents hammer passed. If he managed to send him off-balance, Brandt would try to cleave his head in two from the top down.

Brandt would heed Takehiro's call and begin to follow him, although his pace was still slow. Each footsteps creating an audible thud and heaving little bits of earth as he moved. 600 pounds on top of the near 300 pound giant was enough to make mother earth groan with each movement.
The giant would follow Takehiro toward the smithy, still red face with sweat beginning to bead above his bandaged forehead. This certainly was a work out for the Nord and he wasn't even in combat.
Soon enough though his new instructor would offer him a custom weapon. Brandt would contemplate the idea briefly. He had grown quite fond of his ol' steel carver. But he had to admit, it had seen its fair share of battle. A new weapon wouldnt be a horrible idea.
"Zaan..bat..o?"
The giant simply stared around briefly, breathing heavily as he returned his attention back toward Takehiro. He was clueless as to what a Zanbanto was.
