Appearance: Katsuo is very unique in terms of his appearance, his hair style being the most noticeable. Only one half of his head actually had medium-length brown hair atop it. The other half is shaved extremely short and sports ornate designs shaved into it. When you factor this in with his scruffy facial hair and piercings, it gives Katsuo an edgy look that tends to make people think he’s a hoodlum or a punk. As far as his attire is concerned, Katsuo is a fan of full length black body suits. He can either be seen wearing one or, at the very least, wearing one under whatever clothing he has to wear. The material from which the bodysuit is made is extremely light and breathable. Lastly, Katsuo is missing an eye and he wears an eye patch over his left eye because of this. The eye patch features a cross shaped design upon it.
Personality: Katsuo, despite his appearance, is a very kind man and is slow to anger over most things. The only thing that gets him heated is when somebody would seek to disrespect his lord Hojo Ujiyasu, to which Katsuo has a fanatical devotion to. It’s unclear how or why he acts this way to his lord, but if Katsuo acts in a manner that is violent or cruel, it is because he is carrying out the orders of Hojo.
History: Katsuo was born in an impoverished family and grew up having to steal whatever his family needed to get by. It was a hard life, but at least they had each other. This wouldn’t last forever though and one winter a horrible disease swept through his village and killed many people, a few of which were his mother and sister. His father took the deaths the hardest and he was never quite the same afterwards. Lost in alcoholism and opium addiction, his father was never around for him past the age of ten. Katsuo might have died had he not been taken in by Hojo Ujiyasu to serve as a caretaker for his soldiers. Katsuo helped feed the wounded and sick, cleaned the barracks, and generally did small things to earn his keep. This went on for years and soon Katsuo began to look at Hojo as a father figure and this view planted the seeds for his unwavering devotion to the man in his later years. Katsuo might not be the most powerful soldier in his lord’s military, but he is among the most trustworthy.
