Type of Quest: Search and Retrieve Quest Info: The daughter of Lord Mōri Motonari, Kikuhime, has lost... her pet puppy, Koromaru. With his men unsuccessfully managing to catch the puppy, as Koromaru ran away upon being approached each time, before finally running across the border of Chugoku and into the neighboring territory, with all of his options exhausted, as a final resort, Lord Mōri has (begrudgingly) called upon the youngest General of the Takeda clan, as he had heard Koromaru was spotted somewhere in Shinano, to search for and bring the puppy back. Location: Chugoku, Shinano. People Involved: Yukimura Sanada, Mōri Motonari, Kikuhime, Koromaru. Plot-Important: Board-wise, it might establish an alliance between the Takeda and Mōri factions. And because it's hilarious imagining Yukimura running all over the place chasing after a puppy.

Lord Motonari was rubbing his forehead in irritation in respond to the events that had transpired over the last few days. His youngest daughter, Kikuhime, had lost her puppy. It had apparently run off while the two were in the gardens, and Kikuhime was greatly upset over the matter. Motonari's wife had informed her husband, and so he had purchased another dog, hoping this would quell his daughter. But it wasn't the same as her Koromaru, his daughter had whined, and so he bought an identical puppy. But she had definitely inherited her father's intelligence because after less than ten seconds of looking at the puppy, she had looked up at Lord Mori and the five-year-old had furrowed her brows, little arms crossing over her chest while saying, "Kiku isn't stupid, Daddy."
Goddamnit.
Only because it was Kikuhime did Motonari send out his some of his men to search for the puppy. It had taken them a day to find the canine, but it had proven difficult to catch. In fact, announcement after announcement proclaimed that the puppy was still on the run. It had been caught a few times, but had managed to escape... four times! At the last messenger coming in with the news, Motonari twitched and snapped, "How hard is it to capture a cur!? Idiots! Worthless, the whole lot of you! If someone does not bring that dog back, so help me, Amaterasu-!"
From there he exclaimed that he didn't care if they brought the puppy back or someone else did because they couldn't do their jobs. Motonari had been growing steadily more and more annoyed as the days went on. It didn't help that his daughter had been quite literally clinging to his legs everywhere he went for the last several days and whined the whole time. It was incredibly grating, and even his wife was having trouble maintaining the girl. With his patience level over the matter, Kikuhime would have a dead puppy returned to her if Motonari went out himself to get the dog, and that simply wouldn't go over well at all.
And so one of Motonari's (smarter) generals sought out help, and that was how Yukimura found himself here and why the Lord of the Mori clan was sitting on his throne, internally grumbling and rubbing his temples. Kikuhime was sitting on the floor, hugging his leg, and the beautiful Lady Mori was sweatdropping and smiling nervously, having given up on begging and enticing her daughter to come over to her.
Lord Mori's brown eyes looked over to Yukimura and the daimyo straightened himself in his chair, releasing a sigh. "Sanada Yukimura, is it?"
Motonari knew who the young man was. Even if he didn't have many alliances or associate with Eastern Japan, Motonari made sure he knew as much as possible about other factions and of the members within them. Looking over at his general, Motonari raised his brows and inquired, expression a deadpan, "Did Hajime-san inform you on the situation?"

"That is correct Lord Mōri. And yes, General Watanabe informed me of the current and incredibly amusing situation. I did hear the people in Shinano say they saw a white puppy running around, though none thought much of it, assuming it was either a stray or a lost puppy belonging to one of the villagers."
Giving Lord Motonari a respectful bow of his head as he knelt before the Daimyo of Chugoku, though he had a look of utmost respect and serious on his face, inside, he was sweatdropping just as much as Lady Mōri was seeing Lord Motonari's daughter hug his leg while sitting on the floor.
"As the youngest General of Lord Takeda's army, I will do the very best to bring your daughter's puppy back."
Or not come back at all. Which, was an option for Yukimura, because unlike the other Generals of Lord Motonari's army, Yukimura didn't live in Chugoku. But if he came back empty-handed... he didn't want to think of the consequences, least of which was sending Lord Motonari over the edge and declare war on Lord Takeda or something. Once he was dismissed by Lord Motonari, Yukimura would rise up and bow once again, before making his way out of Lord Motonari's castle and out of Chugoku itself. He'd start his search in Shinano, the last known location of the puppy. This was going to be fun. /sarcasm

Lord Mori rubbed his forehead, exasperated by the whole ordeal. It was not only incredibly frustrating, but embarrassing. His own men couldn't capture a little puppy, and if word really got out, it would look bad for the Mori faction. Many men were most certainly going to be feeling the wrath of Motonari's Abuse Boots. Lifting up the leg that Kikuhime was clinging to, he crossed his legs, and the little girl moved so that she was hugging her father's other leg, much to his dismay (his wife's sweatdrop only grew and hung lower lol.) "Good. I can assure you that you shall be paid quite well for your troubles. Five-hundred-thousand yen will be paid to you in full if you return and succeed, and any other expenses while on the search shall be covered. Hopefully that will suffice."
For the first time in a while, Kikuhime released her father and stood up, scrambling hurriedly over to Yukimura. This surprised her parents, as well as some of the others there, and she screeched to a halt upon reaching the young man. Reaching into her pink, floral robe, the youngest daughter pulled out a scroll and handed it to him. Her brown eyes were big and shimmered as she looked up at him, pleading sweetly, bottom lip pouting, "Pwease bwing back Koro-kun safewy. He may get into twoubwe, but he's a good boy."
She smiled up at him and bowed her head, scrambling back over to her father, although a bit more slowly, so as to avoid being scolded. A sigh released from Mori's lips and he remarked as Yukimura began to leave, "It would have been preferable to have met under different circumstances, Sanada-san. Nevertheless... good luck."
It obviously pleased his wife that he spoke kind words to someone else other than herself and his family, and a few others close to him, particularly out in public, however brief, and a sweet beam lit up her beautiful face. Her hand moved over to Motonari's, leaning towards him a little, and she called out while bowing her head respectfully, tone kind and bell-like in sound, "May Amaterasu guide you, Yukimura-san~"
Upon leaving, if Yukimura chose to open the scroll Kikuhime gave him, he would find a drawing of the puppy. Even though she was five, it was surprisingly a very good and accurate depiction of the dog, making it debatable whether it was really the daughter who drew it, or her roping someone into doing it for her (something which didn't seem too surprising for those who were around the girl long enough. Those who knew her suspected and feared that Kikuhime would be as good of a manipulator as her father.)
Once outside of Chugoku, Yukimura would eventually enter Shinano. There would be no signs of the puppy, although there was a small roadside restaurant run by a husband, wife, and their two teenage daughters. Perhaps he would find some luck there...?

Just as the sweatdrop on Lord Mōri's wife's head grew in size and hung lower, so too did the sweatdrop on the back of Yukimura's head increase in size and hang lower upon seeing Lord Mōri's daughter move to hug his other leg after Lord Mōri had crossed his legs, though Yukimura's face would remain nothing but respectful for the Daimyo of Chugoku.
"That is more than sufficient Lord Mōri. And hm?"
Crouching down so he was face to face with Kikuhime as she ran over to him and pulled out a scroll from within her pink floral kimono, Yukimura would gratefully take the scroll from her, giving the young girl a kind smile.
"I shall bring Koro-chan back to you safely, Kikuhime-chan. You have quite the remarkable puppy, considering he managed to get all the way to Shinano."
Watching as she turned and ran back to Lord Mōri, albeit slower this time, after straightening up, just as Yukimura turned and began to set out for Shinano, he would immediately halt in mid-step, his back to Lord Mōri, as he would turn his head slightly to look at him.
"As do I Lord Mōri. Oyakata-sama greatly respects your tactical prowess, and considers it an honor if he is even on your level. Thank you greatly Lady Mōri, may Amaterasu-no-Okami continue to bless all of you."
Upon leaving Chugoku and on his way to Shinano, Yukimura would indeed open the scroll, staring utterly speechless at the painting of Koromaru. Either Kikuhime was an artistic prodigy, or one of the court painters composed it for her (clearly it was Shiji Hiroyoshi, if that was the case). Upon returning to Lord Takeda's territory, spotting the nearby roadside restaurant and tucking the rolled up scroll inside his jacket, Yukimura would enter inside, as he would flash the Mon of the Takeda he wore on the back of his cloak, before speaking.
"Forgive my rudeness, but have you seen a small white puppy around lately? He may or may not be worn out from traveling a great distance, and any information you have, however small, would be greatly appreciated."

The youngest daughter greeted Yukimura, smiling kindly, but at the mention of the puppy she visibly stiffened.
"Oh no..." she murmured, glancing behind her.
"DID SOMEONE MENTION A WHITE PUPPY?!?!" a man's voice yelled from within the kitchen, and the girl sweatdropped and grimaced. A middle-aged man bust from the kitchen, anger gleaming in his eyes, and he looked around, pan in hand as he shouted, "IS IT BACK? WHERE IS THE DAMNED THING?! I'LL KILL IT!"
The youngest daughter raised her hands and shook her head. "No, Father, no! It isn't here. I-I promise." She then turned to Yukimura and smiled nervously. "Eh heh~ I'm sorry, sir, but... well, you see... we did come across a puppy fitting that description a couple of days ago, buuut..."
The older daughter by just a few years came up to them, rubbing her forehead and finished for her sister, "We let it in, and the darn thing ate our best meat, tore up furniture, and ran off when we tried to catch it. It was as though it could see our every move. It was uncanny...."
"Yeah..." replied the other sister with a sigh and a nod of her head.
"The dog ran north, further up the road," said the mother, who was currently wiping off a table. She smiled kindly and stood up, patting down her kimono. "I suggest taking food to go for the journey and leaving now, lest my husband come back out and rant to you all day. Haha~"

"... That sounds like Lord Mōri Motonari's daughter's puppy alright..."
Yukimura would murmur beneath his breath, all the while with this expression on his face: ^__^;. That puppy certainly caused the family running the inn quite a bit of trouble okay a lot of trouble and grief, and he was going to have to speed up his search for the puppy, because he was sure he was going to come across more groups that the puppy caused trouble for.
"You have my thanks for the information. It's not much, but here..."
Along with the money he would give them for food for his journey, he would also give the two daughters a little bit more money out of his own pocket, as compensation for the grief Koromaru caused them. That, and he didn't quite want to be ranted to all day by their father. After bowing to the daughters and their mother, giving the two daughters an easygoing smile that would make most girls blush, he would head out of the inn and move quickly north, up the road. It probably wasn't hard to figure out where the puppy had been, he'd just look for a trail of possibly angry people.
