Some interesting facts about him.



Born 1560 - Died 1634



A samurai retainer of the Shimazu. Rank karō/senior advisor and senior deputy commander. He lived during the early Edo Period. He was born into the fifth generation of the Shimazu family line. He adopted the name Kabayama as his surname in the respect of the birch-covered mountaintop upon where his castle domain was built.



His most famous battles was invading the Ryukyu Islands which took place after the unification of Japan for Ieyasu Tokugawa. He was sent from the Kagoshima harbor with 100 ships carrying 3,000 soldiers on March 1609. He militarily chastisized the Ryukyu Islands for their percieved gestures of defiance. He was successful in the Invasion and faced little opposition. For a reward for his service he was granted the command to govern the Ryukyu Islands on Tadatsune's behalf.



Hisataka was also known by the named Gozai or Gonza.

Appearance: Normally wears a light blue or dark greyish blue kimono with a light grey hakama. He also has a black haori or vest around his kimono. When he sleeps he sometimes sleeps in his clothes. Usually when he is drunk or camping out. But he usually wears a long yakuta when sleeping. Usually the code of the Wataku, Light blue in the morning till noon, and Dark greyish blue from noon to night.



Personality: Jovial, kind, fun, energetic and youthful man. A lover of drinking sake. He is more intelligent then what he leads on. His foolish ability is his greatest asset but rather unfavorible to his fellow generals who do not see what Kenshin Uesugi sees in him in the first place. But however his foolish nature hides his true serious personality and what he is truly capable of. He is known to use this nature to feed his enemy to perceiving him as a fool and nothing else. While he looks calm and harmless he can change instantly and became a very fierce and unpredicable opponent.



History: The Wataku line is the descended line of the Minamoto clan. As for Katsumaru. He was born in Niigata as the second son of Katsuhori Wataku. A former general of Kenshin Uesugi. Tragedy had strike his family as a virulent plague sweeps the clan. As a young child his grandfather took him, his older brother Sounkatsu, his sisters Suisei and Taiyou and got them away from his village in order to protect the future Wataku bloodline. They all grew up in a noble village.











While they grew up. Sounkatsu his older brother and his sister Suisei had been training hard with their grandfather. By the time his eler brother Sounkatsu came to age he had been the first to be taken away into the Uesugi army. Suisei had stayed home in order to help her grandfather look after her younger siblings Katsumaru and Taiyou. Their grandfather had also grown in age. Too old to care for himself anymore. The three took turns caring for his needs.



Their grandfather eventually died of old age. Leaving the three to fend for themselves. Suisei had imparted her knowledge of her grandfather to Katsumaru and Taiyou so that they would have a better chance fending for themselves if something happened to her. After hearing the death of his grandfather Sounkatsu returned to his family as the new head of the clan. Sounkatsu brought his younger brother Katsumaru into the Uesugi army and taught what he knew about war. He also trained his younger brother and gave him a weapon. A naginata. While Katsumaru was placed in the Uesugi Army at his older brother's side. Suisei and Taiyou had gone to devote their time as Miko's.
