Appearance: Nakashima is a European by birth. He has a noticeable difference from the Japanese due to his hair, green eyes, and lighter skin color. Untested by battle as of yet, his only scars are on his left hand, from withdrawing and sheathing his katana when practicing.

Personality: Nakashima tends to be withdrawn, having been raised traditionally by a Samurai class family. He carries a burden around and often suffers from insecurity due to the fact that he was raised samurai by Japanese, and is not himself Japanese. Nakashima will do anything in his power to prove himself worthy to not only be called a samurai by right and merit, but to prove himself Japanese in custom and mindset as well. His insecurities about his ethnicity have led to many fist-fights in his youth, when he teased for European origins.

History: Yoshitoki Nakashima was born in 1540, on a European boat carrying Christian missionaries to Japan. His birth parents died from illness during the voyage, and he was put into the care of two priests. These priests, once on the mainland, began their religious duties and stumbled upon the Yoshitoki family. The Yoshitoki's were a samurai-class family with little status other than their class as samurai. The priests, during their missionary activities, became good friends with the now converted Yoshitoki family, and left Nakashima in their care. As Nakashima grew older, the Yoshitoki's revealed the nature of his coming into their care to him, and revealed his birth name, "Christoph"; his surname remains unknown. As a result of insecurities and doubts, Nakashima relentlessly throws himself into the Japanese (and Samurai) ways to prove to any and all that he is worthy to be called Japanese and samurai. Nakashima prefers to be called by his Japanese name, the Yoshitoki's being the only ones allowed to refer to him by his Christian name. Nakashima's only link to his birth parents is his shared faith. His family, having converted to Christianity, raised him in the religion as well. The Yoshitoki's bible is the Bible his father carried onto the boat, and Nakashima wears a crucifix necklace given to him by his adopted mother, which belonged to his birth mother. Nakashima takes care to wear this concealed and keep his identity as a "Kirishitan" concealed, as experience has taught him that revealing his faith leads to stranger looks than the fact of him being European does.There are 3 sure ways to start a fight with Nakashima, insult his adoptive family, point out his ethnicity in a derogatory manner, or call him by his Christian name without permission. He came to the Date Faction because of his desire to prove himself Japanese and a samurai, Yoshitoki will follow any order given him with absolute obedience, with few exceptions. His ambition is what drove him to the Date Faction, and he can only hope and pray that his ambition is enough to prove his honor.
