AESTHETICS
Physical: Macht is an incredibly well-built man, as is the result of a life filled with conflict. There is not a single muscle on his body that lacks definition, though he rarely shows it. This is due to the fact that his body is riddled with scars, almost everywhere. He has numerous stab wounds, some from blades, others from arrows, and there are many that seem as though they came from life-threatening wounds. In spite of the injuries he's endured, he holds himself high, as he wants to seem presentable as a mercenary.
Despite Macht's incredible muscle definition, he is more tone than size, opting to make what he has work at its fullest and keep a reasonable stature rather than bulk up and become unnecessarily big. He's taller than he would choose to be, as he sees size can often get in the way, though he uses his height and long limbs to his advantage more often than not.
Macht is a very handsome man, with a firm jawline and a smile that could kill. Despite having one eye ripped out at a young age, the German still looks like a stud, and the eye-patch only really helps. He is a lady killer, a vagina slayer, collector of knickers. At least, that's what you can gather from his looks.
Macht's hands and feet are enormous, which should be evident given he is much larger than the average Japanese man. In his hands, he could hold an Asian's head with no problem, and his feet are large enough he could crush them with ease.
Attire: A couple of trademark items you'll find on Macht's person are his eye-patch and his headband. The eye-patch is used because of his lack of a right eye, while the headband keeps his hair from falling in his eyes. As for his style of dress, he'll never be found wearing Japanese traditional garb. He'll wear the shirts, trousers, and boots he brought with him from Germany, not those "hakama" and "haori" things that look weird and are unreasonably big.
PERSONA
Friends: With friends, Macht is a kind, happy man. He treats them with respect, but a different kind than most people are used to. Macht is a naturally sarcastic man, and he feels feigning kindness and honorifics to those he's close to is dishonest and insulting, rather than respectful. Because of this, his friends can often conclude that he is more rude than anything, though that is never his intention. When Macht has opened up to you and talks more shit than he hands out compliments, you'll know you've got on this guy's good side.
Enemies: While Macht can buy sarcastic and douchey with friends, his douche-meter knows no bounds around those people the German just really hates. He's been called needlessly cruel at times, treating his enemies like dirt and with utter disrespect. It won't take much to get him agitated if you're on his bad side, something so simple as laughing at a joke he didn't intend for you to hear could get him riled up and pissed at you. Macht will not mask his dislike of anyone, least of all those undeserving of his kindness.
Rivals: Very few people have been seen as a rival in Macht's eyes, and most who have lost that spot rather shortly. A rival to him is everything in the path of the warrior; a rival is your motivation to grow stronger, your competition, someone you have the goal of surpassing, and once you have, they grow stronger than you, and the cycle continues. Rivals are the most important and respect figures Macht will ever know, and his standards for them are set high. Someone with incredible physical prowess and the brains to back it up are the kinds of people he looks up to.
Superiors: Macht will not feign respect to any Lord or Lady he does not care for. Unless he holds them in high regard, he'll speak to them just as he'd speak to anyone else, and if they don't like that, it's no skin off his back. If he does respect them, he'll treat them with reasonable respect, such as referring to them as "Lord" so-so or "Lady" what's-her-face. That's the extent of it, though.
Subordinates: Subordinates are those Macht goes into battle alongside, and they are the people he respects. He is kind to them, but he will push them to be their best at any and all times. While he won't risk his life for them, he'll do all he can to watch their backs in battle, as he trusts them to watch his. If they're all as good as they should be, no one would be risking their lives for anyone, and everyone would make it out with their necks. That's how he sees it.
In Battle: In battle, Macht is ferocious, striking first and asking questions later. He'll follow orders, just not to the letter, and he much prefers to fight on the front lines. In situations like these, he truly stands out, fighting with a fervor that outclasses even most samurai in this age.
Mental: Macht is unbelievably laid-back. The man is carefree, even in a land filled with strife and chaos, and he sees it as the perfect time for a warrior to live in, particularly a sell-sword. Despite his sarcastic, fierce exterior, Macht is rather caring for those close to him, though he'll never show it. It's much like a silent affection, if anything.
BACKGROUND
Macht Stärke, of the powerful Stärke family, was born in Germany, year 1537. His was a family of warriors, and so he was trained since he could hold a sword in his hands to be a warrior. While most children lived a life of farming (or pampering, if you were a noble child), Macht's childhood was filled with combat and danger, and often times he could have lost his life before even having reached the stages of puberty. There was no room for weakness in his family, so training was the norm. If children could not fight, they were disowned. That is the harsh environment Macht grew used to.
Not long after he finally turned 13, Macht was a more capable warrior in combat than most adults, having been training his entire life up to this point. For a teenager, his body was incredibly well-toned and fit, and held more scars upon it that most soldiers saw from battle. And it only got more severe as his years went on.
Eventually, the Stärke family grew powerful enough that many houses vied for its support, and it became one of sell-swords, who offered their services to the man with the fatter wallet. This gained them incredible renown, and Macht - alongside his father and siblings - would fell many a powerful figure in Germany, often times slaying a previous employer. It was all part of the business, of course.
In the year 1555, Macht specifically was hired to take part in a Transylvanian rebellion, where the people demanded change from the nobility. The Stärke family name had spread across Europe, so they demanded the best, and paid incredible coin for his services. It was during this battle he encountered one Adrian Marluxia, a Transylvanian Royal who seemed just as skilled as Macht, and was able to hold off the Stärke mercenary. The fight between those two ended up a draw, but the rebellion was eventually quelled, and Macht had to retreat or lose his life.
Not long after Transylvania, Macht encountered a large Nord by the name of Brandt Solveig, and a woman by the name of Amilia Mihaelov - a mutt. The three became their own band of mercs (any Stärke work he got, he would do with these two rather than his family) and quickly gained renown. Macht and Brandt, as was expected given the time the three always spent together, both ended up falling for Amilia. The two found out about one another's feelings, and this caused a tension within the group that would have fatal consequences.
On the last job the three would take together, Brandt and Macht both made incredibly rash decisions in an attempt to impress the woman they cared for and make the other man look bad. The job ended up going horribly wrong, and would end with Amilia's life. This caused the friendship between Macht and Brandt to die, and the two would end up going their separate ways.
In late 1550s, Macht grew tired of being in Europe as it held constant reminders of Amilia, and started moving eastward, leaving behind his family and trying to find a new beginning. Around 1559, he heard of war-torn Japan, and paid for voyage to the country, where he would start his new life. For the last year, he'd fought as a sell-sword, and learned of the language and culture. So far, the new start has proven kind to him.
