Zain is a young man with black dreadlocks styled up into a half ponytail. He is of average height and often wears some simple rags from the slums back home. Zain's dress is very simple, though he appears almost dangerously underfed. Due to the relatively decent amount of combat he used to see when he was poor in the slums what little physique he does happen to have is very toned.
Personality: The young Arabian male is quite the lady killer, a charming and charismatic guy. Especially at first sight. His very first instinct when presented with a social situation is to mingle his way into a group of people. Zain is the leading sort, meaning once he has a group of people under his social spell, he is more than capable of setting off a riot with a few words. He knows the domino effect very thoroughly, and he knows how to set things in place to cause waves. Of course, why would he do that when he could just ride out the waves other people have crafted for him?
Zain is a leader who follows others, never letting himself become known to be the source of calamity. Hiding within the Date Faction, he's almost like a separate force, he has his own sway over lesser forces. Of course, he's not as charismatic as his leader, which means he most likely couldn't get them to betray Date or anything, but he could definitely pull some forces to aid him on a particular side excursion.
All of that is just social stuff though. The young Arabian knows what needs to be done when it needs to be done, and has a strong sense of social duty. He's quick to provoke with opportunity to prove himself to both the opposing side and his faction's ranks. He is not afraid to fight someone who outclasses him if they need to be held back, though he won't be a fool who would challenge an officer outright to a death match, especially if he's less qualified than someone else. After all, he's no fool, it is always best to assign the best person to the task.
Zain's combat style focuses primarily around ferocious offense, mixed in with taking full advantage of the surrounding area. Thusly, he is actually better off when fighting on treacherous terrain. He is also fond of maintaining aerial combat when the terrain is actually too treacherous.
History: Zain was never a fortunate person. Born in the hot slums of Arabian territory, his family was poor, he rarely had more than a stale loaf of bread to eat, and he pretty much gathered nothing from the success that was any town. The best friends he'd made in early life were pretty much dead by the time he was 13. He'd often have to fight for what little rations were available. The young Arabian was unfortunate in every way other than his natural combat prowess.
When he was young, he hitched a ride on a passing horse-and-wagon en route to eastern China for trade purposes. After a series of events, Zain was found and captured as a slave by the merchant, and forced to work for about the same amount of poor rations he used to get for a relatively similar amount of work in brawling back home. This of course meant that nothing in particular changed. He got along and survived by doing the work he was required to do. Of course, because there was an authority figure, that being the slave-driving merchant, he found himself feeling a sort of unbearable drudgery.
So what better to do than to hitch a ride on a ship. At about 16 years of age, he went from a slave, to a sailor within a night. However, this time he didn't let them find him. No, he took this ship by storm overnight. His harsh life had made him stronger than the sailors. Now the captain of a ship, he pretty much altered their course for wherever he felt like going, which happened to be further east. And thusly, he wound up in Japan. He quickly found his crew defeated like the mooks they were, and he escaped into the night.
He would soon learn of the Warring States, hearing the tale of the Fabled 'One-Eyed Dragon' Date Masamune. Figuring it would now be a great opportunity, he decided to make his stake in the world, and took up the art of swordplay, to become a Samurai in the age of opportunity. Joining up with the Date Faction, while not taking up their name, he would still fight for his faction's beliefs or whatever, but in truth, he's really in it for the food, which is far better than what he was used to, and a lifestyle that was more lackadaisical that what he was used to.
