(OOC: This is a story involving some of mine and several other's characters from XIN-based RPBs, notably PHS #552 and #259. This can be seen as an alternate future to #259, and is set 10 years in the future after the current canon of that board. It's heavily based around my character, Valo, and Shugo's character.... Shugo. >.> I wrote this in like 15 minute but meh. This is Chapter One out of... probably like five or something. Maybe.)
Ten years have passed since Strike and Midgard threatened the world. A combined effort between the Yuy Corporation, Hikari Industries, and the former Midgard general Takehiro Amakusa brought a swift end to the regime. Many battles were fought, but in the end, victory was claimed. Takehiro himself faced off against Strike alone, while Kazuya Hikari and Shugo Yuy fought their own battles, making sure to buy Takehiro the time he needed to win. Jacket Ankari and Valo Morei, cured of his sickness thanks to Shugo, would send out broadcast to the entire world announcing that this reign of terror was over, and that the people were free at last. After that, a final showdown took place, Valo and Shugo versus Haru Morei, the man who's ambitions for Project Valor grew so untamed that he nearly succeeded in wiping out the entirety of the Morei and Yuy families, and endangered many more people. Valo and Shugo barely emerged victorious that day with their lives... and on that day, they sealed their power away, all for the sake of living out peaceful lives with their families...
Valo, now the head of Research and Development for the Yuy Corporation, spent a lot of his time in the lab. He oversaw the advancement of technologies that would help to restore humankind to their way of life from before the apocalypse had hit, and it just so happened that they were close to creating a medicine that could cure the people who were affected the worst physically from the nuclear fallout, strengthing the body and fighting off anything that did not belong in the human body, ensuring that they would be at their peak once more. It was very reminiscent of the Valor project, which was created when Valo was born in order to save his life, as he was a weak child who was never meant to live, but he wanted to make sure that this wasn't used for anything wrong.
"Well, with all of the advancements we've made recently, I'm sure this will be done within the next couple of days." Valo spoke happily, his arms crossed as he looked over the notes that were brought to him. Working for the benefit of mankind felt like a way he could make amends for a lot of the wrongs he had committed, and he was glad that Shugo had given him this opportunity.
"Mr. Morei, sir. Your wife and kids have come to visit you." His attendant had announced, and Valo looked around, surprised. A little boy and a teenage girl had walked in, the boy running into Valo's arms and hugging him. "Hey, Adrian! Chastity! It's good to see you both." He pulled his daughter into a hug as well. Behind them walked in Valo's wife, a beautiful girl with blazing red hair and bright green eyes. Valo went up to approach her, and she hugged him as well. "Katarina, what's with the sudden visit?" She looked at their kids, a soft smile on her face. "Well, we hardly ever see you since you spend most of your time here, so we thought we could pay you a visit."
Adrian ran off, dragging Chastity with him. Valo watched them both with a smile, and Katarina spoke again. "You should come spend some time with us tonight. We really miss you." Valo looked at her, taking her hands in his. "I know... but I need to finish some things up here first."
She sighed. "You say that every time. But I know that's not why you stay on your own so much." She placed her hand on his chest. "I know that I'm not her... But, Valo, all I'm asking for is a single night."
He looked at her, realizing she knew him too well. Katarina had been his informant while he worked with the government over the last fourteen years. They were partners, and she helped him through countless situations that he wouldn't have been able to survive alone. Despite his objections, she had helped him with his personal crusade against the Projects and stopping Haru. None of it would've been possible without her. And it wasn't something she just did because she was assigned, but because she loved him as well. And somehow, after Jayne disappeared again, the two of them ended up together.
Placing his hand on her's, he would nod. "Alright... I'll come home tonight." Katarina would give him a smile and kissed his cheek. Valo smiled too, wrapping his arm around her as they walked outside his office together. "Yo, Kurosawa, I'm heading out for the night. I'll check in with your progress tomorrow." He announced to the second-in-command, who nodded as Valo left with Katarina, Adrian, and Chastity. He didn't see Kurosawa's dark grin while his back was turned...
The next day, Valo strolled into the lab in the afternoon, shocked to see that the place looked as though it were a warzone. Everything was destroyed, and all of his fellow workers were on the ground, blood was splayed along the walls and floors. Valo ran to one of the men who he noticed was still breathing, taking him in his arms. "What's going on?! What happened?!" He asked, and the man would cough out some blood before struggling to speak. "K-Kuro...sawa... be... careful... sir..."
The man would barely finish speaking before Valo heard a noise from behind him, and he turned around just in time to bring his arms up to stop a kick sent straight for his head. Valo was sent flying backwards, his feet sliding along the ground before he regained his balance. Lowering his arms, he saw a man clad in a nanosuit, the kind of high-tech equipment that the Yuy Corporation used to make. Only the assailant's face was visible, and it was...
"Kurosawa... why...?" Valo stared the armored man down, and Kurosawa laughed as he stomped down, killing the man who Valo was just speaking to. "Do you have any idea what potential this research has for warfare? What kind of profit can be steered from it? And you want to use it to save people? What a laugh. Look at me, look at the power I've gained by creating this suit and enhancing myself with your little project. You aren't fit to be in control of this, someone as weak as you..."
He advanced towards Valo at a speed at which Valo could hardly keep up, sending his fist to the man's face. Valo went flying through a desk, striiking the floor hard. He coughed, grunting in pain as he spit out some blood before he rose to his feet. "You son of a bitch... you killed everyone for this..." He turned and charged at Kurosawa, sending a kick towards his side. Kurosawa blocked and grabbed Valo's leg, and in response, Valo jumped up with his other leg, sending that one towards Kurosawa's head, which was also blocked. The man smirked, holding onto Valo's legs tightly as he spun around, throwing him through a wall.
"Give it up, "Sky Dragon". You lost your fangs ten years ago when you opted for peace and sealed away your Qi. There's no way you could ever defeat me." Kurosawa began to walk towards the exit, producing a device from his waist. It was a switch. "This whole lab is rigged to blow. I'll make sure your research gets put to good use... the way your brother intended for it to be used."
Valo's eyes widened as Kurosawa pressed the button, and a series of explosives detonated inside of the lab, engulfing Valo within them...
(lol cliffhanger)
