Final Attack Orders

[Ichimura Ryunosuke]

Type of Quest: Assault and extermination
Quest Info: The Totomi militia had unveiled the hideout of the bandit group that had raided the marketplace! Being a trivial manner to the Amakusa as weighed from foreign disputes, the militia decided to remove the bandit threat in Totomi all by themselves!
Location: In the hideout of the bandits in Totomi, near the Imagawa border of Suruga province
People Involved: Ichimura Ryunosuke, the Totomi militia, the Totomi-Suruga bandits
Plot-Important: Might affect relations of the Amakusa with the Imagawa, more in a constructive manner.

Due to Ryunosuke's affiliation with the Amakusa army, he receives the aid of Amakusa Kazuya, one of Takehiro's commanders! Size of the militia: 36 Men

The Totomi Militia, led by Ichimura Ryunosuke, would march on the bandit cove, which was hidden in a small cave by a river. The entrance had four bandits on watch, and none of them really seemed to be paying attention to the outside. The militia could not see any other bandits, as they all seemed to be within the cove.

[Ichimura Ryunosuke]

As the Totomi militia finally arrived at the bandit hideout in a cave by the river, Ryunosuke instructed them to hide in the bushes and take note at the actions of the bandits. When, while sizing up his men, he saw Commander Amakusa Kazuya with them, he said, "I know it is far too dangerous for the Amakusa to be involved with this while our Daimyo was settling our relations with the other daimyo, but I am deeply grateful that the Daimyo had sent you to help us."

When the report came that only four bandits were on the entrance, he said, "Stay where you are, as I take all four of them down. If by chance there are men in that cave and decided to attack, just wait until they are five paces away from me, and then attack. We need to use utmost caution; we don't know how many are there inside." With that he moved towards the cave, and when he within the bandit guards' sight, he started to fire his gun-blade towards them; he was 50 paces from the cave. He would try to hit the bandits' head or chest as much as possible. This had to be finished fast before the bandits inside of the cave would swarm him.

"Thank me not, Ichimura. It is my pleasure and my duty to assist the militia, especially in times like these." Kazuya was kind and understanding, and he, along with the rest of the men, would wait as instructed by Ryunosuke.

Ryu shot each of the men in the head, and they fell basically without a fight. The men in the cave were alerted, however, and in a matter of moments, Ryunosuke would find a swarm of bandits charging him. There could have been no less than twenty at the moment, each armed with katanas.

As they charged, the militia would would fire upon them, taking out seventeen of the men, and Kazuya launched his spear through the air and it pierced one of the men's skull. Of the last two, before the militia could reload, one charged Ryunosuke, looking to cut him in half at the waist, while the other ran back into the cave, screaming. "The militia is here! We're under attack!"

As Ryunosuke finished all four of the guards, some of the bandits came out of the cave, katanas drawn. But before they can attack him, the militia fired upon them, taking out most of them. Commander Kazuya also charged towards the bandits, taking out one with a vicious pierce to the head. But then two remained, one who attacked Ryunosuke, seeking to cut him in half, and one who ran towards the cave to alert the other bandits inside.

Seeing this, Ryunosuke strode backwards to gain distance from the charging bandit, and then he would fire at the fleeing bandit before guarding himself from the slash of the other bandit using his gun-blade. This done, he would try to parry the swing of the bandit's katana before issuing a slash sideways, seeking to rip apart the bandit's stomach.

Ryunosuke would shoot the fleeing bandit in the back just after he shouted, and the rest were alerted to the militia's presence! He also successfully blocked the attack, ripping the bandit's stomach apart! The man went for one last-ditch attack, though found his head smashed in by Kazuya, who retrieved his spear.

"Well, this is gonna get real dirty real quick."

Small barrels of gunpowder would be thrown out from the cave, and fired upon once they were near the group! Kazuya would tackle Ryunosuke out of the way, though three of the men from the militia would be wounded, each suffering injuries to their legs! They could no longer fight, and it seemed the bandits were not going to leave their cove!

The bandits seemed to know what they are doing, as they did not leave the cove and threw kegs of gunpowder at them, and when the kegs are near them, they fired upon the kegs, making them explode. That dastardly move incapacitated three of the militia, and Ryunosuke could not tolerate more injuries as they still don't know the number of the bandits. But...

"They did not get out of that cave? All the better for us." Ryunosuke then said to the militia, "Get away from the mouth of the cave! And we need to cut some tree branches! We need many of them to make a huge bonfire!" While saying that, Ryunosuke went away from the mouth of the cave, fixing a 3-meter long match into the barrel of his pistol to the serpentine of the pistol. This would serve as the incendiary for the huge fire.

((I'll just wait for another post to know how many would be injured as they flee from the mouth of the cave, before I start the tactic.))

Another three militia men would be wounded as they began to flee, but a large amount of branches would be gathered and placed where they were needed! It was all on Ryunosuke now!

As the branches were already prepared, Ryunosuke arranged the match on a spiral. He got some pieces of paper and some tinder, and placed them on the spiral of the match. He then pulled the trigger of the matchlock, the serpentine igniting the match, the flame traversing through the barrel of the matchlock, and into the spiral of the match. This would, in turn, ignite the paper, and then the tinder, and then the leaves of the branches, making a huge fire with the main part of the branches not yet burning.

Ryunosuke would turn towards the militia, saying, "We need to throw these burning branches into the mouth of the cave, as much as possible, to cover the mouth of the cave! Some of you throw the burning branches, while others would cut more branches and toss them into the mouth of the cave." With that, Ryunosuke would try to throw one of the burning branches into the mouth of the cave. He hoped that the smoke from the burning branches would urge the bandits to go out of the cave, or else be suffocated from the smoke.

Kazuya and a good majority of the men would assist in throwing the branches, while a few would begin to cut some more. Before the stack grew too big, however, the fires were doused by buckets of water, another barrel of gunpowder was thrown outside, and it was shot a few feet in front of Ryunosuke! A swarm of bandits would rush outward toward the militia men, the bandits in the back armed with rifles!

As the gunpowder barrel was thrown in front of him, Ryunosuke would evade it as much as possible, only to see some bandits charging at them, and some seemed to be armed with rifles. He then shouted to the militia, "Those who are confident that they could kill someone with one shot, shoot at the gunners, and then some of you would shoot at the warriors, while others who are confident of their strength and ability to dodge bullets would charge at the enemy!"

He then would set his aim towards the bandit riflemen with his gun-blade, seeking to eliminate as many of them as possible with one shot each, while also dodging the bullet of the gunners and the attacks of the melee bandits. When those gunners would be out of the way, this would be easy.

With Ryunosuke and several of the militia men taking aim at the riflemen, Kazuya led a small amount of men to combat the bandits who charged! The Amakusa commander slew them with relative ease, and Ryunosuke's fire proved a useful distraction as he and the militia men tore through those who remained!

Another explosion, this time an immense one, would knock everyone back a few feet, the entrance to the cave beginning to crumble as another fifty bandits rushed outward to defend their homes! They were led by a massive man who wielded a large hammer, and he seemed intent on crushing the small boy who led the militia!

[Ichimura Ryunosuke]

Ryunosuke, seeing that the plan had gone through, was about to celebrate when suddenly a great explosion swept the feet of all those who are present away. He managed to stand up, muttering, "Now damn it, that was a huge one. Now what's next?" He then saw the entrance of the cave starting to crumble, as 50 bandits rushed out of the entrance of the cave, led by a giant of a man wielding a huge hammer. As the man stared at the diminutive head of the militia, Ryunosuke then thought that the giant would go for the dwarf first.

He then shouted at the militia, "Regroup as fast as you can, and stick to our former strategy! I need to settle something with this giant, so just attack or shoot at him if there are no bandits remaining!" The giant then charged at him, and Ryunosuke would respond with backward strides, firing his gun-blade towards the giant's head until when the giant dies or was five paces from him, whence he would respond by making a slash on the arm of the giant with which he held the large hammer.

The bandits and militia all seemed evenly matched for each other! Ryu's bullets would bounce off the chief's helmet, and the slash on the arm cut him deep but it barely seemed to affect him! He kicked Ryunosuke to the ground, before raising his hammer and slamming it down where the boy was, looking to crush him in one move!

"Argh, that hurts!"

Ryunosuke did not expect that coming. He thought that the cut on the arm would disarm the giant, but the giant kept on holding to that ponderous weapon as he swung it again towards Ryunosuke, intent on quashing him to the ground. Bullets won't affect the giant's head as he had a very versatile helmet on, and Ryunosuke could not have any choice... wait. He has a helmet, but to see the enemy he should keep his eyes open.

He then would try to evade the ponderous hammer swing, while firing on the giant's eyes. But if it does not work, he would aim towards the part that he had confirmed to be unprotected, the arm that he slashed a while ago. He would fire the arm that he had made a cut into, seeking to dismember it from his body.

Ryunosuke's impeccable accuracy found his bullet piercing the man's eye! He howled in pain for just a second, before the bullet splattered his brain and killed him! He would fall to the ground in a slump!

"BOSS!"

The bandits reacted to their leader having fallen, a good portion of them getting cut down as a result. Though, a few of the militia men would meet their end as well, but Kazuya would protect as many as he could.

[Ichimura Ryunosuke]

The bullet fired by Ryunosuke fortunately found its way to the eye of the giant, who screamed in pain before falling down on the ground with a slump. As the bandits were disheartened and the militia celebrated, the battle went on, the bandits being put down by the militia. But a sudden counter-attack by the bandits had ended the lives of some of the militia. Ryunosuke was shocked at those who fell; three of  them he knew by name, and were those who were closest to him.

"NOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

He screamed at the loss of his friends, and, somewhat furious, he aimed his gun towards the bandits.

"YOU CAN'T ESCAPE FROM THE HANDS OF JUSTICE! SURRENDER HERE AND NOW, OR SUFFER YOUR FATE IN THE GRAVE!"

If the bandits would dare to attack, Ryunosuke would fire his gun on those bandits' heads, while striding backwards to evade the attacks. Those who will surrender would be kept alive, and will be taken by the militia to their custody.

It seemed none of the bandits would surrender willingly! Ryunosuke would put a pullet through several bandits' heads, and with the help of the militia and Kazuya, they would have slain the rest of bandits with relative ease!

"Well, kid, looks like we got the bandits taken care of," Kazuya spoke at Ryunosuke's side. "The Amakusa will not forget what the Totomi Militia did here today. You lot made a sacrifice, and we can't hope to repay you for your duty."

He would give a moment of silence for the fallen men of the militia, before taking up one of the bodies himself in respect.

[Ichimura Ryunosuke]

"Yes," Ryunosuke said to the Amakusa commander, still somewhat sad from the loss of some of the members of the militia. "It was hard for me to see the passing of some of the members of the militia, some of them were my intimate friends, but..." He turned at the direction of the castle which was the seat of power of the Amakusa. "...they sacrificed their lives for the people that they cherish to see the light of justice dawn. I know this might be the first of the many battles that I would encounter while seeking that goal, but for now, I would tell the families of the departed that they had died in the course of pursuing justice, that they died so that they would be protected."

Ryunosuke also offered a moment of silence for the departed members of the militia, before carrying another of the dead militia with him, and instructed others to do so. No one would be left behind.
