Burning Soul [Yukimura | Musou]

[Sanada Yukimura]

Without a moment's hesitation Yukimura would push the boy out of the way of the foot, leaving him to take the full weight of the foot, as he would try to repeatedly jab the blade of his spear straight up into the foot of the creature, hoping to at least make it flinch in pain and he could dodge out of the way to avoid being crushed. As he did so, he felt a heat build up inside his body, but it wasn't a painful kind of heat, or like when he had a fever, instead this felt... invigorating.

Like he could do anything.

"GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM!"

As Yukimura thrust his spear upwards, the monster suddenly recoiled in pain. It would step back, and it looked as though it was suddenly raining water around Yukimura. If he looked upwards, the blade of his spear would be completely engulfed in flames, the heat that had channeled in his body had found its way to his weapon.

Angrily, the beast once more went for the boy, firing ice at him and planning on freezing him.

Staring wide eyed as the blade of his spear was suddenly completely engulfed in flames, he was confused as all get out on how the heat from his body made its way to his spear, but he wasn't going to complain about it. As the creature went for the boy, Yukimura would quickly dash to the side, aiming to shield the boy from the ice as he would swing his spear at the creature, to try and not only knock the ice away, but also injure the creature with his fire.

"I WON'T LET YOU HURT ANYONE ELSE ANYMORE!"

[Uesugi Kenshin]

Yukimura's slash of the spear would send forth a large wave of fire, flying right at the monster and nullifying its ice breath. The creature would shriek in pain, backing away in fear. Yukimura would feel as if he could bend the power of fire to his will suddenly, and he would hear a voice inside of his head. "Let your soul burn with strength."

Utterly amazed at what was coming forth from his spear, as the creature backed away in fear, Yukimura would dart forward, feeling as if he could bend the power of fire to his will, and would swing his spear in a vertical slash at the creature just as he heard a voice inside his head.

... Let my soul burn with strength... Yes. I will protect the person precious to me.

"... I will... I WILL PROTECT-!"

He would roar, as he would let loose two strikes, forming an X-shape, at the creature, one right after the other.

Yukimura's burning spirit seemed to be too much for the giant creature, the cross slashes striking through the creature, practically cleaving straight through it as the fire melted away at its icy body. In one last desperate attempt, the beast would look to the sky and roar with all of its might. Ice would shoot up from the ground in a circle around Yukimura and the boy, looking to impale them both. What more, ice would also shoot from the sky, to rain down on them and freeze them solid.

"GET DOWN LITTLE ONE!"

Yukimura would roar, as he would hold his spear outwards behind him, and try to execute a spin attack, aiming to not only melt the ice surrounding both him and the boy, but also use the momentum of the spin to melt the ice that rained down on them from the sky. He'd then thrust his spear skywards, before bringing it down at the creature with an almighty roar.

The boy would duck as Yukimura spun his spear around him. The resulting spin would cause a flaming whirlwind to appear around them, warding off the ice to the sides and top of them. As he roared and brought his spear down upon the monster, a large blade of fire would come forth, slicing the beast clean in two as it cried one final shriek. The flames that engulfed it would melt the creature to nothingness. Yukimura emerged victorious.

Breathing in heavily, his chest heaving in and out, a little stunned at the giant blade of fire that had come forth from his spear, he would take a moment to catch his breath, before quickly turning around and go to check on the boy.

"Are you alright little one? Come, let us see if we can free the villagers from the ice that holds them."

Turning to the ice wall the creature had created to prevent the boy from escaping, he would thrust his spear towards it, to melt it and allow them to return to the village.

The boy would follow behind Yukimura, strangely quiet. As they walked towards the village, they would notice the temperature seemed to be raising considerably. It was no longer bone chillingly cold, and the snow seemed to stop falling. The blizzards and winds raged no longer.

Upon arriving in the village, Yukimura would find that the people there had been freed from their curse. They were looking around confused, and upon seeing Yukimura returning with the boy, they would all run up to him, cheering. "You're a hero! Thank you so much, stranger!" They would tell him.

Yukimura would be a herald to these people for the rest of time. Amidst the celebration, he could hear a voice speaking directly to his consciousness. "Well done, Yukimura. I chose well." If he looked towards the boy, he would see the boy staring straight at him, the voice seemingly belonging to the child.

Feeling the temperature raise considerably, now that the creature was slain, as they made their way towards the village, he would briefly glance back at the boy, slightly puzzled by how quiet he was, but his attention would quickly shift back to the immediate change in the environment. It was no longer bone chillingly cold, the snow had stopped falling, and the blizzards and wind no longer raged. As soon as he reached the village, he would smile happily seeing the villagers had been freed, and would bow his head humbly, an embarrassed, if not slightly sheepish look on his face.

Amidst the cheering and celebration, he would hear a voice speak directly to his consciousness, causing him to look around confusedly, before his gaze settled on the boy, who was staring straight at him.

"I mean no disrespect, but may I humbly ask, who are you?"

[Uesugi Kenshin]

The boy looked at Yukimura with a smile. "You may know me in your world as Kagutsuchi, the god of fire. I took on the appearance of this boy when I brought you to this world to test you. I believe you are worthy of my blessing and my power, Yukimura. You have stopped the eternal winter of this world and saved these people, at the risk of your own life. But tell me... for what purpose do you wield your strength?"

It was as if everything else was shut off now. Yukimura could no longer hear the people around them, it was as if they stopped moving entirely. All that seemed to exist was Yukimura and Kagutsuchi.

[Sanada Yukimura]

Kagu-tsuchi-no-kami!"

Immediately Yukimura would fall to one knee in respect to the God of Fire, his head bowed, and would look up and around when he realized he no longer heard the sounds of the villagers celebrating, like they had been frozen in time. Looking up at Kagu-tsuchi, still on one knee, his expression would turn serious, as he would raise his right hand up and rest his fist on top of his heart.

I'd like to... protect Kofu and everyone in it. I want to protect my father; my older brother; and everybody! But most of all, I will protect a person precious to me."

[Uesugi Kenshin]

Kagutsuchi, in the guise of the boy, would look down at Yukimura as he bowed. He gave the soldier a gentle smile, and seemed thoroughly pleased with his answer. Yukimura did not want his power to wage war or to ravage the lands with villainy. Instead, he wanted the power to protect those around him, those he could protect. Kagutsuchi looked at Yukimura, and instead of seeing just another boy, he saw someone with the makings of a hero to him.

"Very well. Then I shall lend you my strength to aid you in your quest. You may bend my fires to your every whim, calling upon them when you see fit."

Yukimura would feel a deep heat taking a hold of his heart, power now surging through his body. He had become Kagutsuchi's Chosen. Light began to envelope the Takeda warrior, and he slowly began to be transported back to his own world. It would seem like one big dream, but that feeling of power would feel very real.

"Perhaps one day, I will call upon you again... Until then, farewell, my warrior."
