With his trademark axe in hand, the sun would shine down upon Shingen, having barely crested over the eastern horizon. The orange glow of its rays increasing the shadows casting off the tents in front of him, a hearty grin on his face. Dew clung to the grass and trees scattered around, and the sounds of deep, peaceful snoring could be heard issuing from the tents. Behind him stood Sanada Masayuki, Yukimura's father and one of six kinju to him, hands clasped behind his back. Looking at the back of Shingen's head as the daimyo strode forward, it was around five thirty, and with his eyes on the tents, he would take in a deep breath. "GOOD MORNING MEN! IT'S TIME TO GET OUT OF BED! PLEASE LINE UP IN FRONT OF ME IMMEDIATELY! LET'S MOVE! MOVE! MOVE!"Letting out a hearty roar of laughter as a few cries could be heard as people jerked awake, several of them falling out of their beds in shock. Several of the generals and captains, whom Shingen had woken up beforehand, started lifting the cloth entrances to the tents apart, letting sunlight pour in and shouting for men to wake up and form rank in the front field line up. As the men rushed outside, some in just sleeping pants, some in just their underwear, and even some dressed in training gear and ready to go. Shingen paced up and down in front of them as the lines slowly filled. Fifty. Seventy five. One hundred men. A solid response. Without warning, he would snap his axe at them, causing many to flinch. "Men, if this had been an attack from the Uesugi faction, many of you would be dead, I am sorry to say. That response time was shamefully deplorable. I thought your commanders taught you better than that."Seeing the ears of the training instructors go bright red with embarrassment, it meant they would start whipping the men into shape again, which is what Shingen wanted to see. "Unfortunately, they will not be running your training today. I will be. The generals will be. The captains will be. And by the time this training day is over, though you will be exhausted, you will be rewarded! You will start off with a nice warm-up, a five mile run to wake you all up fully. Understood?""Yes Lord Takeda!"They would all roar as one, as Shingen would let the generals and captains lead the men on their warm-up run. As for him, though he was no spring chicken, he would be taking part in the training as well. He could still crack a few heads easily even at his age. (OOC: This is a training thread for the Takeda faction, PC's and NPC's alike. If your character does not have a high rank, you will be among the men that is being trained. Please post whether you were awoken by Shingen's shouting or showed up and started running if your character does not sleep in the tents. This will be submitted to a staff member for EXP and rewards, but the requirement for the rewards is you must have at least 4 posts of decent length, meaning no one-shot post or one-liners and that's it.)

Even though his men were used to waking up early in the morning for training, even they didn't expect to be woken up like this. Shirtless and dressed in a pair of grey hakamas tucked inside black instep foot guards, a white cloth belt tied around his waist, a gray bandanna tied around his head, and black arm guards and fingerless gloves with metal plates on the back of each hand, his eyes on their tents as he took a deep breath. "TIME TO GET UP MEN! ON YOUR FEET NOW!"A slight smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth as his men scrambled to get out of bed, some ending up tangled in their sheets in panic, others literally falling out of bed trying to get up quickly, dull thumps heard all around. Once everyone was gathered, he'd take his place behind Lord Takeda, beside his father, his hands clasped behind his back. Once everyone had been dismissed, he would head into the training ring he had set up, as he stood in the middle of it, cracking his knuckles and rolling his shoulders and neck. Before the morning was over, many a body would be tossed aside and sent flying out of the ring.

Shou regretfully unlike most of the camp had already been awake. Correction, it was more precise to say still awake having just arrived back to camp. Surprised to see Lord Shingen and a collection of other important figures of the Takeda together in front of the tents. Shouting Lord Shigen woke the camp in a booming voice, and Shou watched as soldiers rushed outside in varying states of attire, some embarrassing so. He cursed under his breathe as he moved from his current walk to a jog towards the line of men forming up. Glancing around he saw Captain Koboyashi, almost dragging his men to the line as Lord Shingen reproached the performance of the troops.
When Lord Shingen finished explaining what was ahead, Shou managed to hold his tongue, before cursing aloud again now that he was within ear shot of the leader of the Takeda. Shou did not like what the intimidate future held, why couldn't he have arrived back to camp a few hour latter, to avoid this or at least a few hour before so he could rest before hand. He was tired. "Yes Lord Takeda!" He chorused with the rest of the men, as they turned and proceeded to run the distance as instructed. He managed to track down some of the men of Koboyashi's unit during the run.
Looking back at Lord Shingen and his retinue. He saw one of them break off and entered what looked like a figting arena of some kind, hoping that they weren't expect to fight him as part of today's exercises. HE was tired already, and after 5 miles he would be more so, take into account that he had been the first to enter the arena it was likely he was a skilled, strong person. Well if they were made to do so, maybe he would knock Shou out. At least he would get to sleep that way.

After the captains took off and lead the men in their run at the front of the pack, keeping them moving at a brisk pace, it was meant to wake them up, not make them drop from exhaustion. Once they had come back full circle to the front of the tents, having run around the perimeter of the camp, one of his generals, Yukimura-san, was already standing in the middle of one of ten training rings set up. "Men form up! Today's training session will be involve building up your strength and toning your muscles, as well as testing and building up your stamina, or building up and increasing your speed and agility, as well as your reaction time! In pairs, half of you will wrestle against one another, to try and send your opponent out of the ring either by forcing the other wrestler out of the ring or to touch the ground with anything other than the soles of the feet, but you also have to avoid being sent out of the ring or thrown to the ground yourself. You are NOT fighting. You are not to break any bones or spill blood. As for the other half, you will be taking on an obstacle round of sorts. Sounds simple enough, right? Well it is not I am afraid. The obstacles will test not only your speed, but how fast can you react to hazards being thrown at you from all different directions."His eyes twinkling despite his stern expression, behind Shingen, a large, wide circle of wooden towers with one torch attached to the railing had been built, each tower connected to the one beside it by a simple wooden plank bridge. "Captains Hashimoto, Yamamoto, Hayashi, Hirano, and Koboyashi. Your men will be in the training rings under General Sanada's command. The rest of you will be with me, at the obstacle course. Understood?""Yes Lord Takeda!"After the men had broken off, Shingen would turn and head towards the towers, the other half of his men following behind him, and after climbing up to the platforms, he, along with Masayuki and Sarutobi Sasuke, stood up above on the towers, the former acting as observer and mediator, Masayuki holding a bow in his hands and a quiver full of arrows made out of just wood on his back, and the latter equipped with a belt of throwing stars, kunai, and wooden throwing poles. Each of them stationed at one tower, eight in total, allowing them to switch to the tower beside them easily, to attack from different angles, the moment the first man up was positioned in the center of the circle, they would begin. In rapid succession, Masayuki would begin firing a series of arrows at the soldier, while Sasuke would toss a series of kunai with explosive tags attached with rapid flicks of his wrist. The morning fog blanketing the area making it that much harder to evade, and the only light from the torches set up, which in itself did not help much, as it was meant to only light up the tower area, not the area below.

Shou formed up with the other men at Lord Shingen’s command, as they all finally finished the warm up run. Shou listened as the Lord explained the different tasks ahead and that the men would be split between them. Wondering which he would prefer, Shou knew he didn’t have a choice when Lord Shingen listed off Koboyashi’s unit as one that would be training in the rings with the man he had seen before. ‘So that’s Sanada Masayuki’s son.’ Shou thought to himself, having not seen the man up close before, even though he had heard about him in the camp quite often.
Exhausted, Shou propped himself up on one of the men as they moved over to the ring, before alongside the men, pulled himself up inside. Shou noticed how man after man started pairing up as they had been instructed when, something jumped to the front of his mind. He was only a temporary member of Koboyashi’s unit, and he was the odd man out. Turning his head, knowing he would get in trouble if he just stood there doing nothing he spoke. “Sanada-san Sir, we appear to have incorrect numbers.” He said with a salute. Praying deep down that it would mean he got out of the exercise at least for today.
He knew he wasn't going to though, either he was going to be made to wait and take turns with another pair. Or someone else would be added to there group, in order that he would have a partner for the training. Shou was just glad that, the small amount of time he gained for them to sort it out, would be enough to rest his legs a little before they were made to start.

"Alright ladies, I hope that run woke up you all up nice and good, because if you thought that was grueling, you haven't seen anything yet! Matsumoto, Kobayashi! Ring one! Yamaguchi, Okada! Ring two! Takeuchi, Nomura! Ring three! Ishida, Maeda! Ring four! Kimura, Hara! Ring five! Koyama, Otsuka! Ring six! Ogawa, Takada! Ring seven! Kinoshita, Sato! Ring eight! Ichikawa, Ito! Ring nine! Suzuki! Takagi! Ring ten!"
As the men paired up when their name was called out and went to the ring assigned to them, he had attached no honorific to each of their names, which meant he was serious. He wasn't here to be their friend today, today, he was here to whip them all into shape.
"Don't just stand there with your mouths open! Get going! Or do you WANT to run another five miles!?"
"SIR NO SIR!"
"Then move it! Move it! MOVE IT! No blood or broken bones, or you'll be the ones tossed out of the ring... BY ME!"
Turning to Shou, he would see not a look of confusion on Yukimura's face, but one of calmness.
"Yes, you are correct Yamabara-san. You will not be training against one of the other soldiers. You will be training against me. Suzuki, Takagi! Vacate the ring and go to Oyakata-sama's training area."
After the two men exited the ring, bowing respectfully to Yukimura, he would step into the ring, and turn to face Shou.
"If you can push me out of the ring Yamabara, you get to rest."

Watching as everyone else start vacating the ring at Yukimura command, Shou could almost feel what was going to be said in reply to his answer as Yukimura got in to the ring with him. A expression of dread momentarily flashed across Shou's face. He didn't really think he was in a state to be wrestling with the other man, but that fact he had mention that he would be allowed to rest if he managed to do so made him motivated to do so as quickly as he could. Though how exactly he was to do that he had no idea. Shou was use to fighting only if his life depended on it, and at least with some form of weapon to assist him. But that was completely against the idea of today's training.
"Yes sir." Shou would say with a bow, before slowly moving towards Yukimura as if cautious of the other man, before hopefully surprising him when he burst forwards. Shou would be crouched low, trying to spear a shoulder into Yukimura gut, his head on one side of the man's while his arms would lock around him. Trying with all his strength Shou would attempt to lift Yukimura off the ground, or a least unbalance him slightly. The idea was to try and end things as quickly as he could. Tackle the man, lift him slightly before running forwards pushing the man to the edge of the ring before dropping him out.

Ttaking up a grappling position, his feet spaced out shoulder length, his center of gravity low to the ground, Yukimura watched Shou carefully, and the moment the man burst forward, Yukimura would push off with his left foot to the right, letting Shou run past him, before quickly ducking down and sticking his left leg out, to try and trip Shou.
If he was successful, he would then quickly try to get behind Shou and wrap his arms around Shou, beneath his arms, before attempting to lift him up and toss him out of the ring.

Shou wasn't to surprised when the other man managed to move out the way, and was lucky that being crouch low as he was he could see the ground easily and noticed Yukimura foot in time to force his foot over it rather then tripping. It put him off balance because it caused him to make a larger step then was smart, but it was better then tumbling forward completely.
Turning he faced the other man, the other man was a nimble he was and dodging a charging foe like he had wasn't to hard obviously. Hoping that Yukimura had showing off the fastest he could move when he dodge, Shou got ready for the other man to try and come after him, legs spread for stability and crouched low, to keep his centre of gravity low. Hopefully the other man was above just waiting him out in his tired state.

Though he was unable to trip Shou, facing the man, Yukimura would mimic Shou's body position, and if it wasn't for the fact their body shape was far less bulkier, they looked like two sumo wrestlers. Stepping towards Shou at a controlled pace, he would try to lock hands with Shou and grapple with him while attempting to push him backwards out of the ring. It seemed like it would come down to a war of attrition, who could outlast the other. Granted, Shou was at a disadvantage, given his tired state, but the prospect of resting was quite the driving force. All he needed to do was get Yukimura out of the ring, simple as that.

Shou lock hands with Yukimura, and would plant his feet as solidly as he could as the other man tried to push him backwards through the right. Shou would wait into he felt the deadlock between them. He knew that he was going to tired before the other man. Instead of attempting to push back with everything he had in hopes that the other man would give before he did Shou had a plan in mind.
He would relax one arm and stop pushing with it while immediately pushing hard as he could with the other. Hoping that Yukimura would continue to push before he realised what was going on and would be push slightly off balance before Shou would then pushed back with both arms once more and powering his legs forward. The extra power from his leg, use to years of running would be enough to gain ground against the other man.

Feeling Shou immediately relax one arm while pushing harder with the other, instead of digging his heels in and fighting back against Shou, effectively using more effort up and tiring himself out, he would allow Shou to push him back, but just as he was rather close to the edge of the ring, he would tighten his arm and leg muscles up and digging his heels in, try to lift Shou with the strength he had, before quickly pivoting on his heels and try to swing Shou right out of the ring.

Shou felt the other man not push back as he hope he would, and noticed how the other man planted his feet before trying to lift him. Instead of waiting to be lifted and thrown clear of the the ring, Shou gripped the other man's hands as tightly as he could, and jump to the side, hoping to follow the momentum of Yukimura's attempt to throw him out of the ring and force the man to carrying on spinning long enough that he could land back in the ring. He assumed that Yukimura would try and let go of him while he was out the ring, so that he would fall out, but Shou would claw on as long as he possibly could.

As Shou jumped with Yukimura's momentum and attempt to throw him out of the ring, he would indeed let go of one of Shou's hands, but the momentum would be lessened due less force being exerted on Yukimura's part. Just as Shou neared the edge of the ring on the spin, Yukimura would launch a flat palm strike to his chest at an angle, to try and push him off-balance as he continued to claw on as long as he could, before releasing his grip on Shou's hand, hopefully sending him stumbling enough to get one foot out of the ring.

Shou relised that he wasn't in a position to really block effectively, as he was trying to hold onto the other man as best he could. And Yukimura blow struck him as planned. However it didn't cause him to suddenly leg go or anything but did cause his grip to loosen. This wasn't good.
Desparatly Shou tried to get his feet back to the ground inside the ring, and only managed to get one inside, while off balance he he refused to put the second down as it would lead him to losing. With everything he had, including his body weight Shou pulled, he knew was going out of the ring anyway at this point, but he planned to at least drag the other man with him. Yukimura had only said he had to ring him out in order to rest, not the he couldn't go down at the same time.

"The rest of you will be with me, at the obstacle course. Understood?"
"Yes Lord Takeda." Her voice was quiet, dull- not very full of conviction as the others but a response no less. She stood out, probably because she was the only female amongst the ranks (but definitely not because of her white hair and pale skin). She thin frown was pulled tight over her lips whenever he yelled 'men' but whatever- that couldn't be helped.
Obstacle course. A small sigh escaped her as she kept up with the lord. She stood in line- last to go because the men before her didn't want a woman to trump their success, as if they knew she would fail but what did they know? Apparently little, since it wasn't the first time she had trained with them. Regardless, she watched as the first man took off- not out of being ready but because there was a barrage of arrows and little trinkets of explosion that went off at his feet. At that point, Seiko's eyes went up, trying to look through the fog for where each of the assailants were located.
Interesting obstacle, though. If one were to be hit with an arrow...
She mentally winced at the thought.

With their sight not much use to them, given the fog, the men would have to rely on their other senses only to evade the arrows and kunai, but that was no easy task, and though the first man managed to avoid the slew of weapons shot and thrown at him, he couldn't evade all of them, and would be hit by Masayuki's arrows occasionally, Sasuke's explosive kunai's landing too close to him for comfort. But just as he managed to get a rhythm down, Masayuki and Sasuke would switch up their angles of attack, forcing him to stay on his toes to avoid being hit. As the other members of the army watched on, seeing what their fellow soldier was faced with, it became clear why Lord Takeda decided to train them in the early morning, as opposed to daytime.
Slowly the line would dwindle in front of Seiko, and soon enough, it was her turn, the men that had gone before her now lined up behind her, some grumbling about the course, others waiting for her to start so they could see how she fared. Once Seiko was in the center, Masayuki and Sasuke would begin firing their barrage of arrows and kunai at her from all angles.

OOC: I wasn't sure how far I was supposed to go...so if there's something you don't agree with, you can just ignore it and GM it however haha and I'll just follow along.
Her turn.
She watched as each man before her attempted to do the same as the one before- merely to get through the obstacle course without getting hit. Seiko was, physically, at a slight disadvantage; the men that went before her were stronger than her and no doubt could endure longer than her in a fight. But Seiko had foresight; she had intelligence- might as well use that to her advantage.
Before it was her turn, she had been taking mental note of where the first arrow usually landed depending on where the first steps of the individual taking the course. That would be key in her fight to get through the course. No one had gotten through the obstacle course unscathed so Seiko didn't expect the same: her purpose was similar, but judging how none of the men were seriously injured, Seiko realized that those shooting the arrows and bombs weren't necessarily trying to seriously maim the men.
She didn't bother staying on the center stage for too long; as fast as she stepped on, she stepped off, following in the footsteps of one of the men in the beginning. Arrow shot before her, as predicted; she was low to the ground and hand swiped to pick up the arrow to use, twice, for one arrow in each hand-- and, to ensure that she wouldn't be following exactly in the steps of the ones that went before her, she switched it up. The beginning was easiest because there were only two towers shooting at her.
Seiko was completely immersed in the obstacle. The towers that the men were on were evenly spaced; timing was almost everything, especially when she was to transition from tower to tower; there would never be more than four towers attacking her at once. Bombs fell close to her feet which made her wonder if there was a deeper purpose to how they were attacking...there usually always was in trainings. The next bomb that fell, rather than avoiding it, Seiko would launch herself towards it and, holding one of the arrows by the point, would use it as a bat to have it explode in the air above and before her. It wasn't fair if it was only foggy on the ground, so why not create smoke up in the air too? Level out the playing field.
She wans't sure if that was even allowed, but whatevs!

With Shou off-balance, Yukimura would launch another flat palm strike at Shou's chest, and would continue rapidly striking him until the man was off-balance to the point Yukimura could rip his hand free, the added motion possibly sending him out, or Shou was forced to released him. Either way, regardless of the outcome, Yukimura would give Shou a smile.

(OOC: You're all good Kia.)
High above on the center tower, Shingen would smile. Though the men had proven themselves capable of avoiding projectiles while their vision was inhibited, none of them were creative going about it, simply dodging and evading the fire as best as they could. Seiko on the other hand... Much like General Sanada Yukimura, who found her in a ruined village and took her in and accepted her without hesitation, so too did Shingen welcome her with open arms. It mattered not to him a person's appearance, what mattered to him what was on the inside. And watching her creatively defend against Masayuki and Sasuke's barrage, he was like a father proudly watching his daughter.
Masayuki and Sasuke both frowning at the smoke that impaired their vision from Seiko knocking one of the explosive kunai back at them, they would switch up their positions on the towers, both at a rather strange angle, and Masayuki would launch a barrage of arrows while moving between towers, Sasuke doing the same but with his kunai, both trying to keep Seiko on her toes.

Shou collapsed backwards as he failed in his plan. Yukimura had reacted with yet another palm strike. A set of them, and Shou was unable to react, or tighten his grip as he pulled back at the same time as Yukimura pulled his arm free. Staggering back out of the ring, and falling to the ground with aloud thud he looked up at other man with tired eyes, as Yukimura told him he could go rest
"Yes sir, thank you sir." Shou would reply formally, forcing his tired muscle to bring his to his feet. Giving a bow, as was proper of is superior Shou turned to go find somewhere to sleep for the day. Hoping that next time Lord Shingen called such a training session, he was awake enough to actually make more use out of it. Reaching where Koboyashi unit usually slept, Shou collapsed by the entrance of the tent, hoping that the Captain would wake him later.

But they wouldn't see Seiko coming out of the smoke in the direction they had perceived. Instead, she went backwards to collect more arrows, using their misconception of her re-appearance to her advantage. She didn't go back too far, she only needed two more which she had collected with ease before disappearing back into the smoke and coming out, making a straight dash to the finish line- a full out sprint.
There were only so many arrows Masayuki could aim at Seiko at a time; there were probably 2-3 seconds of leeway while he grabbed another arrow, aimed, and launched, which was plenty of time for Seiko to shift her attention back and forth between that and the explosive kunai. Because she was at an all out sprint, she was only assuming that the two above in the towers were likewise running to keep up, or at least stay ahead of her. So she stopped. There would be a couple missteps in her two superiors who were attempting to thwart her- perfect, because that gave her some time (not much) to actually follow the trajectory of one of the kunai, allowing her to do the same as before. Except the same tactic would not work twice, so rather than running through the smoke, she would be running outside it, hoping that their eyes were focused more in the covered area than on herself; if only she were wearing all white, how simple her task would be.
Though, an arrow came down and she could not avoid it, not entirely. It cut through the sleeve of her shirt and cut her skin, blood seeping through, but with the adrenaline pumping through her she barely even felt it. She switched the pace of her run multiple times at random; the thing about shooting arrows is that the offender needed to have an estimate on where their moving target would be in the future; he was a skilled archer, and no doubt if he wanted her dead she already would be. But knowing that their purpose was not to kill nor seriously injure was probably the greatest advantage one could have.

Shingen letting out a hearty roar, he was immensely pleased at how much progress Seiko was making, while at the same time, putting the men to shame. Perhaps now they would think twice about assuming a female would fail, because right now, what they didn't want, a woman trumping their success, was happening. Just before Seiko would reach the end however, Masayuki and Sasuke had a few more tricks up their sleeve. Switching his weapons up, along with the arrows he fired, he would also throw the wooden poles that were located at each tower, Sasuke doing the same with the wooden poles located on his side. Soon Seiko would find a hail of wooden poles flying not towards, but roughly in front of her, and not always in her path, sometimes the poles landed to the side.
This was to not only keep her moving, but try and drive her back and forth between each side, essentially testing her ability to weave in and out between fire with no set path.

Ooh...kay. That was new.
The wooden poles were actually a pleasant surprise; it was a weapon that Seiko was familiar with- well, not a wooden pole, but it was more useful to her than arrows. When the first few poles landed in front of her, Seiko stopped; rather than immediately running around it, she pulled one from the ground before moving to the right, only to be stopped by another pole. Move to the left, pole. Without so much of a second thought, her lithe body successfully weaved between the center pole and the left one, and with each subsequent pole that flew towards her after would not stop her; instead, she would press on by spinning (much like in American football to avoid a tackle). If she could help it, she would use her own pole that she took and swing, to knock the pole further away before it was fully able to touch the ground. This was definitely a hindrance to her grand finale, but the fact that they whipped out something on her that they hadn't on the other men made her feel an odd sense of pride.

Sasuke had one more trick left, to try and hinder Seiko. A stack of ninja stars in his hand, with his other hand, he would swiftly begin flicking them down towards her, each ninja star turned vertically so that they would appear near invisible. As for Masayuki, he would continue firing arrows down at Seiko, more for a distraction than anything else. But if she managed to get past this, with one last attempt by Masayuki and Sasuke, literally bombarding her with every weapon they had, she was home free, and would find Lord Shingen waiting for her up on top of the center tower, his hands clasped behind his back. Though it was not evident, there was a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye, seeing first hand her skills.
The moment the sun was high up in the sky, burning the morning fog away, with the hours that had passed, by the time lunch time came around, each of them had managed to successfully evade the waves of attacks Masayuki and Sasuke had thrown at them, literally, but all of them were greatly exhausted and rather sore from all the arrows and the small explosions. Pleased at the progress the men made, nodding to Masayuki and Sasuke, he would step back and make his way down the towers and back to ground level.
"Takeda army, form up!"
He'd roar heartily, as the men would immediately stop what they were doing and run towards him, forming back into rows once more. Once all of them were in line, he'd pace back and forth in front of them, before stopping and turning to face them, a twinkle in his eye.
"Well done everyone, you survived your first training day. But don't celebrate just yet. There will be more training days in the future, so prepared. But for now, you've earned your meal. Dismissed!"
