I made a quick detour to the tavern before attacking the group opposite to the one that the man who helped me. I grabbed two bottles of molotov cocktails once more. They worked out well enough before. I figured I'd try them again. I threw the bottles at the men who had just entered after lighting their fuses.

If Masahiro was looking, he'd find the man was not yet finished off! As he got the molotovs, his arms would be struck before he could fully throw them, and they would set fire to the huts! Before he could react again, the bandit kicked him in the back and sent him to the ground!

The huts... no... I was so shocked that I was easily thrown to the ground. I pounded my fist on the ground... GOD DAMMIT! HOW COULD I LET THIS HAPPEN?! GOD DAMMIT! I got to my knees and picked up my sword. I turned to the man crouching... This is it. I'm going to end this... Once and for all. RYUUTSUISHOUSEN! I launched myself upwards from the crouching position, aiming to slash the main's throat vertically with the tip of my sword and continue further into the air to be above him. Once at the pinnacle of my jump, I did a forward roll in mid air to add momentum and slashed my sword down, aiming to slash my sword down on top of his head... hopefully vertically bisecting this monster.

"I... WILL KILL YOU! AND ALL THE REST OF THE FILTH THAT FOLLOWS YOU! I WILL PURGE ALL OF YOU FROM THIS WORLD!"

Masahiro was successful! The leader was slain, cut in two by the mercenary hero's attacks!

The extra villagers who tried to help were quickly slain, though the man with the hammer continued to kick some ass, killing another six bandits in no time!

There were still 10 at this gate. I sheathed my sword... Quickly I grabbed the halves of the bandit leader's body. Hopefully the men were petrified at the sight of their fallen leader's broken body. I would throw the two halves at the men and charge behind the throw, using the pieces of the body to conceal my own. As I approached them, I pulled my sword from my sheath attempting to slash them in a horizontal arc, hoping to slash as many of them as I could.

The throws terrified the bandits, and he was able to slash the bellies of six of them! One of them charged him, but before he could do anything, he had an iron hammer smashed into his skull! The villager from before hurled his weapon to save Masahiro, and ran into the group and knocked the three living bandits onto the floor and then stomped on their necks, killing them in seconds!

"I thank you for your help, stranger," the villager spoke after a while, panting. "This is the first attack we've ever repelled, and it is because of you."

"Thank you... but this isn't enough..."

I looked around me. So much destruction.... so many lives ruined... Dammit. To think I let this happened. I made myself sick. Stupid. So fucking stupid. HOW COULD I LET THIS HAPPEN. I dropped my katana from my hands and looked at my blood ridden hands... I was a murder who killed murderers. That much I had come to terms with... but I couldn't stop them before the village had suffered this much. I was indeed pathetic.

"No short amount of lives were lost today... and the blood of the villagers soaks my hands. I was the one who could not protect them."
